When Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs) are applied in cosmetic products, they have many merits because of unique feeling and characters. However, it is very difficult to use them as cosmetic ingredients because they are insoluble material in oil and water and have high specific gravity. To develop a special system to stabilize PFCs in cosmetic products, we compared three systems, of gel network system, spherulite lamellar system, and nanostructure system. We found that nanostructure system was the optical system for stabilizing PFCs.
A semi-interpenetrating network (IPN) was prepared for a temperature-sensitive polymer system composed of sodium alginate and poly (N, N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA)-co-ethyl acrylamide (EAAm)). The role of sodium alginate is to provide crosslinked network and that of poly(DMAEMA-co-EAAm) is to provide temperature responsiveness to the polymer system. Semi-IPN gel shows temperature-induced swelling transition at the same temperature of the lower critical solution temperature of poly(DMAEMA-co-EAAm) and its swelling kinetics is manipulated by the control of crosslinking densitv.

The effect of novel N-crotyl-N,N-dimethyl-4-methylanilinium hexafluroantimonate (CMH) curing agent on cure behavior and thermal properties of DGEBA epoxy cationic system was investigated. From DSC measurements of DGEBA/CMH system, it was shown that this system exhibits an excellent thermal latent characteristic in a given temperature and reveals complex cure behavior as indicated by multiple exotherms. The conversion and conversion rate of DGEBA/CMH system increased with increasing the concentration of initiator due to high activity of CMH. Viscoelastic properties during gel formation of DGEBA with CMH were investigated by rheological techniques under isothermal condition. The gel time obtained from the modulus crossover. point t(G')=G", was affected by high curing temperature and concentration of CMH, resulting in high degree of network formation in cationic polymerization. The thermal stabilities were discussed in terms of the activation energy for decomposition and thermal factors determined from TGA measurements.ents.
The effect of age (22, 30, 38, and 46 days) on Beijing duck breast myosin gels was investigated. The results showed that the water holding capacity (WHC) and gel strength were markedly improved at the age of 30 days. Differential scanning calorimetry suggested that the myosin thermal ability increased at the age of 30 and 38 days (p<0.05). A compact myosin gel network with thin cross-linked strands and small regular cavities formed at the age of 30 days, which was resulted from the higher content of hydrophobic interactions and disulfide bonds. Moreover, the surface hydrophobicity of myosin extracted from a 30-day-old duck breast decreased significantly under temperature higher than 80℃ (p<0.05). This study illustrated that myosin extracted from a 30-day-old duck's breast enhanced and stabilized the WHC, thermal stability and molecular forces within the gel system. It concluded that age is an essential influencing factor on the myosin thermal stability and gel quality of Beijing duck due to the transformation of fibrils with different myosin character.

The ultraviolet(UV)-curable materials wildly have been used as a ink and coating materials. A according to measure UV polymerization phase separation of acryl groups 2,3,4-functional monomer, a few experiments were performed gel fraction, dynamic viscosity of alkyd resin blend system. Dependence of photoiniator concentration and various monomer, alkyd resin content investigated structural changes of films cured by UV irradiation. Curing rate measured UV irradiation under $25^{\circ}C$, cell gap 7cm and film thickness 100${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. In results, it was through that the viscoelastic properties of films cured with increasing the ratios of monomer/alkydresin contents are network polymer in properties such as viscoelasticity.

In this study, liquid crystalline (LC) is formed using Gemini surfactant (GS) type and moisturizing effect in vivo is measured. $3.0\;wt\%$ of sodium dicocoyl ethylene diamine (PEG)-15 sulfate (SCD-PEG-15S) is used as GS and $4.0\;wt\%$ of hydrogenated dimer acid esters (HDAE) as booster. For stabilizers, $2.0\;wt\%$ of behenyl alcohol (BA) and $1.0\;wt\%$ of Iyso-lecithin (LyL) are utilized. It is stabilized in pH from 4.0 to 10.5 and the best condition is in pH 6.5. The value of viscosity is $8,000\pm500$ cP. The most excellent particles are formed within the range of 4.0 to 15.5 um. Formed LC is observed around LC particles using polarization microscope. It is also observed that lamellar gel network structure is formed around LC particles. Moisturizing effect is improved by $13.6\%$ (P<0.05) compared to control when measured 30 min later after coating samples. After 1 h, moisturizing effect is improved by 1$12.6\%$ (P<0.05) than control while showing $28.3\%$ (P<0.05) of improvement after 4 h. These results may be caused from that manufactured LC forms lamellar structure so that it has better water-holding ability and absorbance of oil increases. This formula could be utilized by delivery system (DS) on skin so that this technology can be applied for manufactuing pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
The effects of epoxy resins and content of catalyst on the cure characteristics were studied by FT-IR, DSC and dynamic viscometer for the thermal properties and rheological properties of the catalytic (N-Benzylpyrazinium hexafluoroantimonate, BPH) epoxy thermosetting system. Compared with DSC results of DEGBF containing 0.5wt% BPH, the DSC thermograms of DGEBA containing 0.5wt% BPH indicated that the reaction was faster than that of DGEBF/BPH and the conversion rate of DGEBA/BPH was high in the initial stage of the reaction. As the concentration of BPH increases, the reaction and conversion rates show similar value in both the cases. The influence of hydroxyl group of epoxy resin on gel point defined from the crossover point of storage modulus (G') and loss modulus (G") could be explained by the formation of 3-dimensional network in the initial stage owing to the curing reaction between epoxides and hydroxyl groups of epoxy resin. This was consistent with the gel point obtained from DSC, FT-IR and moduli crossover. The activation energy (Et) obtained from the crossover point (G'/G"=1) are $31-39kJ.mol^{-1}$ for various BPH compositions in case of two epoxy systems.

In the past, facile dissolution of cellulose has been hampered by the lack of suitable nondegrading solvents. Recently, this problem has been solved in our laboratory by the discovery of an inexpensive, convenient solvent system, that is the mixture of $NH_3\;and\;NH_4SCN$, for cellulose. Also, the $cellulose/NH_3/NH_4SCN$ solution system has been found to form the anisotropic, i.e., liquid crystalline phase. It is believed that both the cholesterio and the nematic phase occur. This finding has prompted extensive on-going researoh on the formation of the liquid crystalline phase from an inexpensive natural source such as cellulose since the nematic phase is envisioned as an excellent precursor sources for products with desirable properties, for example, high modulus and high strength. This interest naturally leads to a desire to understand the theological properties of the nematic phase so that the transformation of the nematic phase to the solid state with desirable properties can be efficiently accomplished, ;From this point of view, the theological behavior of the $cellulose/NH3_/NH_4SCN$ system has been studied as a function of shear rate and shear stress over a wide range of solvent compositions, cellulose concentration, centrifugation and urea contents, Results indicate that the viscosity decreases with increasing shear rate. A marked shear thinning behavior and a quasi-Newtonian behavior were observed in the low shear rate region and in the high shear rate region, respectively for all solvent compositions. The $cellulose/NH_3/NH_4SCN$ solution system only exhibited the viscosity increase with increasing cellulose concentration and failed to show the viscosity drop generally observed at the point of incipience of liquid crystal formation, This may be due to the gel-like nature of the solution by the association of the rodlike molecules into bundles which may serve as crosslinking points giving the cellulose solution a network structure. Also, simply hydrogen bonding may be so restrictive of molecular mobility that a viscosity drop is blocked. In addition to the above results, yield stress and thixotropy were also observed in the $cellulose/NH_3/NB_4SCN$ solution system which are characteristics of liquid crystal and gel, The results of the effect of centrifugation on viscosity show that viscosity decreases by the application of centrifugation. This may be explained by the change of the piled polydomain structure to the dispersed polydomain structure due to the pressure gradient generated during centrifugation.ation.

Polymer substrates were fabricated by using poly (phenylene ether) as a base resin, N,N'-m-phenylenedimaleimide (PDMI) as a crosslinking agent and decabromodiphenylethane as a flame retardant. The effects of crosslinking agent and flame retardant on physical properties such as dielectric property of the substrate were investigated. Thermal curing feature of PDMI with or without an initiator was analyzed by DSC, and then, PPE-PDMI test compositions were designed based on this result. Composite sheets were cast by film coater, laminated under vacuum and pressure, and then, the changes of dielectric constant, dielectric loss, peel strength, solder heat resistance and inflammability according to increasing amount of PDMI and flame retardant were evaluated, Dielectric constant and dielectric loss showed increasing trend with increasing amount of PDMI and flame retardant, but solder heat resistance and inflammability were improved. Peel strength was obtained higher than 1 kN/m when PDMI above 10 wt% was added, but slightly decreased as the amount of flame retardant increased. From the measured gel contents, the reaction mechanism of PPE-PDMI system was deduced to the formation of network structure by crosslinking PDMI with PPE rather than the formation of semi-IPN structure. In conclusion, the polymer composite substrate materials with dielectric constant of 2.52$\sim$2.65 and dielectric loss below 0.002 at 1 GHz were obtained and they will be proper for high frequency applications.

It is well known that cracks in concrete decrease permeability and durability of concrete because cracks enhance the penetration of water or corrosive chemicals like as chlorides, carbon dioxides, sulfates and some others. But some of cracks in hardened cements may be sealed in case of contacting water. This phenomenon is called "self healing" and it has a close relation to hydration products newly formed on surfaces of cracks. Many studies on self healing in concretes commonly showed that CSH gel has been observed on crack surfaces. And some studies have reported that calcium hydroxides and ettringite were observed as well as CSH gel on crack surfaces. This study was carried out to investigate hydration products formed by self healing process and also examine the influence of waterproof admixture for concretes on self healing of cement. As a result of XRD, DSC, SEM and EDX analysis of crack surfaces, it was found that self healing of cement was related to CSH gel, calcium hydroxides and ettringite. And waterproof admixture increased fibrous (needle-like) hydration products which were in network form. It is estimated that such fibrous products are effective for self healing process of cement system.
