Background: Wound healing is a complex process influenced by a variety of environmental factors. Dressing materials play a critical role in creating barriers against contaminants, maintaining optimal moisture levels, and absorbing wound exudate. Therefore, selecting materials tailored to wound characteristics is crucial for enhancing outcomes. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural biocompatible polymer that supports healing by regulating inflammation and promoting tissue repair. This study compared HA- and hydrocolloid-based hydrogels in a rat model to optimize wound care strategies. Methods: Full-thickness dermal wounds (diameter, 8 mm) were created on the dorsal skin of 12 Sprague-Dawley rats under sevoflurane anesthesia. The wounds were treated with HA/silver sulfadiazine gel (group A), hydrocolloid gel (group B), or left untreated (control), all covered with a transparent dressing. Biopsy specimens on days 3, 7, and 21 were used to assess histological parameters: inflammatory cell infiltration, fibroblast infiltration, collagen deposition, neovascularization, and epithelial thickness, using a semi-quantitative scoring system. Histological analyses were conducted blindly, and statistical analyses were performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test (p< 0.05). Results: On day 3, group A showed significantly higher inflammatory cell infiltration and collagen deposition than other groups, indicating extracellular matrix formation. By day 7, angiogenesis was highest in group A, followed by group B and controls. By day 21, all wounds had completely healed. Epithelial layer thickness, reflecting inflammation and fibroblast maturity, was significantly higher in group A. Conclusion: This study compared HA-based hydrogel and hydrocolloid-based dressings through histological analyses to elucidate wound healing mechanics. HA-based hydrogel dressings significantly enhanced wound recovery. However, generalizing these outcomes requires future studies to expand the range of effective wound treatment materials. These findings underscore the potential of HA-based dressings to enhance clinical outcomes in wound management, suggesting avenues for improving therapeutic strategies.

The objective of this study is to propose a modification of the previously proposed drainage system for catching the partial leakage of underground concrete structures. Two techniques were proposed for applying the drainage system only to the leaking parts. One was for conveying leaking groundwater to the collection point in the drainage system and the other was for conveying the collected groundwater to the primary drainage system of the underground concrete structure. Four waterproofing materials for conveying leaking groundwater to the catchment point of the drainage system, Durkflex made of porous rubber material, KE-45 silicone adhesive with super strong adhesion, Hotty-gel made of polymeric materials and general silicone adhesive were evaluated for waterproofing performance. Hotty-gel only showed perfect waterproof performance and the other three waterproof materials leaked. The modified drainage system with Hotty-gel and drainage pipe with fixed saddle to convey the leaking groundwater from the catchment point to the primary drainage system were tested on the concrete retaining wall. The waterproof performance and the drainage performance were evaluated by injecting 1,000 ml of water in the back of the modified drainage system at the 7-day, 14-day, 21-day, 28-day, 2-month and 3-month. There was no problem in waterproof performance and drainage performance of the modified drainage system during 3 months. In order to evaluate the construction period and construction cost of the modified drainage system, it was compared with the existing leaching repair method in surface cleaning stage, leakage treatment stage, and protective barrier stage. Total construction period and construction cost were compared in considering the contents of work, repair material, construction equipment, working time, and total number of workers. As a result of comparing and analyzing in each construction stage, it was concluded that the modified drainage system could save construction period and construction cost compared to the existing leaching repair method.
To determine the compatibilities of soft liming materials with denture cleansers by measuring the flexibility and elasticity and investigating the surface changes, 4 self-curing acrylic resin soft lining materials and 1 heat-curing silicone soft lining material were evaluated. 3mm thick x 20mm diameter discs of soft lining materials were individually bonded to a hard acrylic resin base as per manufacturers’instructions. Using an Instron universal testing machine, a static stress of $2kg/cm^2$ was applied for 30secs., the strain in compression was measured, giving an indication of the material’s flexibility. Elastic recovery was measured at 10secs. After removal of stress. Surface changes were investigated with Stereomicroscope. Then the specimens were immersed in 4alkaline peroxide denture cleansers and water as control group, tests were carried out at 1 day, 2 days, 7 days, 14 days and 30 days. The results were as follows : 1. Alkaline peroxide denture cleansers caused considerable porosity on the surface of selfcuring acrylic resin soft lining materials, and the most affected by the cleansers were Viscogel, Coe-Soft, Coe-Comfort, Lynal, in that order. 2. There was significant difference in flexibility between each soft lining material except for Coe-Comfort and Visco-gel, and every soft lining material was significant difference in elasticity. Especially Molloplast-B and Lynal were less flexible and more elastic than other soft lining materials(p<0.05). 3. The denture cleansers increased the flexibility and elasticity of the soft lining materials compared with control group(p<0.05), and Denalan, Polident, Kleenite, Efferdent affected the soft lining materials in that order. 4. There was significant difference in flexibility between each denture cleanser except for Denalan and Polident(p<0.05). Though Denalan and Polident, Denalan and Kleenite did not show significant difference in elasticity, other denture cleansers showed significant difference among each other(p<0.05). 5. Clinically Coe-Comfort, Coe-Soft and Visco-gel were incompatible with alkaline peroxide denture cleansers, and Lynal would be used within only 2 weeks. But Molloplast-B was compatible with alkaline peroxide denture cleansers.

In this study, we investigated the electromagnetic properties and microwave absorption characteristics of M-type hexagonal ferrites, which are known as millimeter-wave absorbing materials, according to their calcination temperature. The M-type ferrites synthesized using a molten salt-based sol-gel method exhibited a single-phase M-type crystal structure at calcination temperatures above 850℃. The synthesized particle size increased as well with the calcination temperature. Saturation magnetization increased gradually with increasing calcination temperature, but coercivity reached a maximum at 1050℃ and then rapidly decreased. After preparing a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) composite containing 70 wt% of M-type ferrites, we measured the complex permittivity and permeability in the Q-band (33-50 GHz) and V-band (50-75 GHz) frequency ranges, where ferromagnetic resonance occurred. Strong magnetic loss from ferromagnetic resonance occurred in the 50 GHz band for all composite samples. Based on the measured results, we calculated the reflection loss of the TPU/M-type ferrite composite. By calculating the reflection loss of the M-type ferrite composite, the M-type ferrite calcined at 1250℃ showed excellent electromagnetic wave absorption performance of more than -20 dB at 52 GHz with a thickness of about 0.5 mm.

The aim of the study is to compare the fluoride release and recharge properties of glass ionomer cements and 'alkasite'. Specimens of two glass ionomer cements (Fuji IX GP and Riva Self Cure), 'alkasite' restorative material (Cention N) and composite resin (Filtek™ Z350XT) were prepared. The fluoride release of each specimen was measured for 28 days. Thereafter, 1.23% acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) gel was applied to experimental groups. No treatment was performed on control groups. The fluoride release was measured for additional 7 days to evaluate the fluoride recharge properties of each materials. The fluoride release was highest in Riva Self Cure, followed by Fuji IX GP, Cention N (p < 0.05). Fluoride release of Cention N was measured to be approximately 49% of Fuji IX GP's. After the application of 1.23% APF gel, increases in fluoride release were observed in Riva Self Cure, Fuji IX GP and Cention N (p < 0.05). Fluoride recharge was observed in Cention N as well as in glass ionomer cements. Further studies are required to evaluate the anti-cariogenic properties of Cention N at clinical conditions.

This study evaluated the linear dimensional changes with the factor of time and thickness using of three commercially available tissue conditioners (Coe-Comport, Visco-Gel, Soft-Liner). The thickness of materials were changed (1.5mm, 3.0mm) and the percentage changes in dimension were measured at 1h(baseline), 12h, 24h, 3 days and 7days after specimen preparation. The obtained data were analyzed by ANOVA with the SAS/PC statistical package. From the results, large differences appear between the various tissue conditioners. The results suggested that the period recommended for forming functional impression would be 36h to 3days after insertion in the mouth. Depending on the type of tissue conditioner over time, as there were significant differences in the elastic change(p<0.05). Tissue conditioner of the 1.5mm, 3.0mm thickness were significantly different by the dimensional stability(p<0.05). Elastic deformation of the ideal itself, and resilient when compared only the look, Visco-Gel 3.0mm group, stability was the most stable volume. In addition, it is important to select tissue conditioners suitable for functional impression because of the wide range of dimensional stability among the materials.
Statement of problem: The clinical criteria of soft lining materials are resilience over an extended period, capability of forming a strong bond with denture base materials, dimensional stability, adequate tear strength, and color stability. Many researches and reports dealt with food colorants or denture cleanser, but not with fermented foods. Purpose : This study was designed to assess what fermented foods, such as soy sauce and red pepper paste that many Koreans have eaten, influence on the color stability of soft denture liners. Material and methods: The color differences (${\Delta}E^*$) were measured by spectrophotometer with different immersion time. For the procedure, thirty disk-shape specimens per 4 soft denture linears(Molloplast-$B^{(R)}$, Ufi Gel $SC^{(R)}$, Dura $Base^{(R)}$, Sofreliner $MS^{(R)}$) were fabricated with a thickness of 2mm and 16mm in diameter. Each 10 specimen were immersed into the beakers of fermented foods distilled water, and $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ values were measured for the color difference(${\Delta}E^*$), on the 1st, 7th, and 28th day with spectrophotometer. Result and conclusion : 1. There were significant differences between samples(soy sauces, red pepper pastes, and distilled water) in Sofreliner $MS^{(R)}$ of 1st day after immersion(p<0.05). There were significant differences between samples in Sofieliner $MS^{(R)}$ and Ufi Gel $SC^{(R)}$ of 7th days after immersion(p<0.05). There were significant differences between samples in Molloplast-$B^{(R)}$ of 28th day after immers ion(p<0.05). 2. In red pepper pastes, ${\Delta}E^*$ values of Molloplast-$B^{(R)}$, Ufi Gel $SC^{(R)}$, Sofrelinev $MS^{(R)}$ weve higher than 3.3. Those values were not clinically acceptable. In soy sauces, ${\Delta}E^*$ values of all denture liners were lower than 3.3. ${\Delta}E^*$values of Ufi Gel $SC^{(R)}$ were higher than those of other denture liners 3. Based on the above results , red pepper paste causes more discoloration than soy sauce.

Diopside (CaMgSi2O6) is known to have high bioactivity as well as excellent mechanical properties. In this study, we tried to improve the bioactivity of zirconia ceramics by surface coating of diopside and its bioactivity was investigated through an in vitro test. Surface coating on zirconia substrate was prepared by sol-gel method using a diopside sol which was prepared by dissolving Ca(NO3)2·4H2O, MgCl2·6H2O and Si(OC2H5)4 in ethanol with a fixed molar ratio and then hydrolysis. To examine the bioactivity of diopside coating, we examined the surface dissolution and the precipitation of new hydroxyapatite particles through in vitro test in SBF (Simulated Body Fluid) solution. Dense and thick diopside coating layers could be fabricated on zirconia substrate by sol-gel method. Also, we confirmed that they contained high bioactivity from the in vitro test, indicated the precipitation of hydroxyapatite particles after the 14 days immersion in SBF solution. In addition, we checked that the bioactivity of diopside coated layers was dependent on the repeated coating cycle and coating thickness.
