  • This paper focuses on the study of the robustness of face authentication methods under illumination changes. Four different face authentication methods are tried. These methods are as follows; Principal Component Analysis, Gaussian Mixture Models, 1-Dimensional Hidden Markov Models, 2-Dimensional Hidden Markov Models. Experiment results involving an artificial illumination change to face images are compared with each others. Face feature vector extraction method based on the 2-Dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform is used. Experiments to evaluate the above four different face authentication methods are carried out on the Olivetti Research Laboratory(ORL) face database. For the pseudo 2D HMM, the best EER (Equal Error Rate) performance is observed.

  • The three-phase four-leg voltage source inverter (VSI) topology can be an interesting option for the three phase-four wire system. With an additional leg, this topology can handle the neutral current, hence the DC link capacitance can be reduced significantly. In this paper the three dimensional space vector modulation (3D SVM) in ${\alpha}{\beta}{\gamma}$ coordinates for the three-phase four-leg VSI is presented. By using the 3D SVM method, the DC link voltage can be reduced by 16% compared with the split DC link capacitor topology and the output distortion can also be reduced under the unbalanced load condition.

  • Four air hardening steels with carbon, silicon, manganese, chromium, and molybdenum variations have been used in this study to find out the optimal chemical compositions of steels with over 1200 MPa tensile strength for automotive subframe. The dimensional changes after heat treatment were determined for two automotive parts with open and closed cross sections using 3D scanner. When four steels were austenitized at 900℃ for 30 seconds, cooled at 3℃/s, reheated to 450℃ for 10 seconds followed by air cooling to simulate hot-dip galvanizing treatment showed ultra high tensile strength over 1200 MPa. Rear floor cross member with open cross section revealed much bigger dimensional changes than subframe with closed cross section after heat treatment at 900℃ for 20 minutes followed by air cooling.

  • This study aims to establish the concept about a new approaching method dor remodeling in the planning step. also, this study sets up the way how to approach in a dimensional way by classifying the conceptual composition of the target housing as a method. The dimensional definition is as below. The one dimensional approach: the spot. the two dimensional approach: the line, the three dimensional approach: the apatial mass, the four dimensional approach: space + time, the n dimensional (multi-dimensional) approach: the space + time + emotion. The research findings are as follows : For the purpose of remodeling, the old housing should be viewed in the three dimensional shape and space. It is defined as multi-dimensional module method to design the shape and space of the target housing in a multi-dimensional point, considering the three dimensional space composition, the emotion of the user, the housing itself. and the time of the user.

  • The connected and simply connected four-dimensional matrix solvable Lie group $Sol^4_1$ is the four-dimensional geometry. A crystallographic group of $Sol^4_1$ is a discrete cocompact subgroup of $Sol^4_1{\rtimes}D(4)$. In this paper, we geometrically describe the crystallographic groups of $Sol^4_1$.

  • In this paper, we proceeded to the classification of four dimensional baric algebras strictly satisfying a polynomial identity of degree six. After some results on the structure of such algebras, we show that the type of an algebra of the studied class is an invariant under change of idempotent in the Peirce decomposition. This last result plays a major role in our classification.

  • We compute the extended four operations of the 2-dimensional quadratic fuzzy numbers. Then we calculate the intersection between a plane perpendicular to the x-axis, which passes through each vertex, and the resulting 2-dimensional quadratic fuzzy number. We confirm that the equations of the two intersections acquired in this way and the graphs are actually identical, respectively.

  • A novel space vector modulation strategy in the non-orthogonal three-dimensional coordinate system for multi-level three-phase four-wire inverters is proposed in this paper. This new non-orthogonal three-dimensional space vector modulation converts original trigonometric functions in the orthogonal three-dimensional space coordinate into simple algebraic operations, which greatly reduces the algorithm complexity of three-dimensional space vector modulation and preserves the independent control of the zero-sequence component. Experimental results have verified the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed three-dimensional space vector modulation in the new non-orthogonal three-dimensional coordinate system.

  • Four dimensional data assimilation (FDDA) technique was considered for 3 dimensional wind field in coastal area and a set of 3 numerical experiments including control experiments has been tested for the case of the synoptic weather pattern of the weak northerly geostrophic wind with the cloud amount of less than 5/10 in autumn. A three dimensional land and sea breeze model with the sea surface temperature (SST) of 290K was performed without nudging the observed wind field and surface temperature of AWS (Automatic Weather System) for the control experiment. The results of the control experiment showed that the horizontal temperature gradient across the coastline was weakly simulated so that the strength of the sea breeze in the model was much weaker than that of observed one. The experiment with only observed horizontal wind field showed that both the pattern of local change of wind direction and the times of starting and ending of the land-sea breeze were fairly well simulated. However, the horizontal wind speed and vertical motion in the convergence zone were weakly simulated. The experiment with nudgings of both the surface temperature and wind speed showed that both the pattern of local change of wind direction and the times of starting and ending of the land-sea breeze were fairly well simulated even though the ending time of the sea breeze was delayed due to oversimulated temperature gradient along the shoreline.

  • Over a wireless sensor network (WSN), accurate localization of sensor nodes is an important factor in enhancing the association between location information and sensory data. There are many research works on the development of a localization algorithm over three-dimensional (3D) space. Recently, the complexity-reduced 3D trilateration localization approach (COLA), simplifying the 3D computational overhead to 2D trilateration, was proposed. The method provides proper accuracy of location, but it has a high computational cost. Considering practical applications over resource constrained devices, it is necessary to strike a balance between accuracy and computational cost. In this paper, we present a novel 3D localization method based on the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) values of four anchor nodes, which are deployed in the initial setup process. This method provides accurate location estimation results with a reduced computational cost and a smaller number of anchor nodes.
