This study is an introductory study on Convergence of Traditional Chinese Paper-cutting Art and Contemporary Ceramic Decoration. As a part of Chinese folk art, now newly developed by the convergence of contemporary ceramic ar, today it promotes artists' creativity and find a alternative way for ceramic art. This mainly explore transition of 2 dimentional paper-cutting art into ceramic art. As a part of convergence art, this study suggest combination of 4 elements yin-yang-true-false with understanding of its history and contemporary status, and towards aesthetic values.

The Gifts that Freobel devised in 1837 were the first instructional media using concrete and systematic toys as materials for early childhood education. The shapes of hexahedrons, cylinders and balls and conception of point, line, plane and six colors shown in the forms of Freobel's Gifts are the basics of formative elements in modem design. However, the Gifts, or educational toys, which were presented to practice Freobel's educational ideas actually in the educational fields were hardly examined or analyzed from the viewpoint of design. In this study, the structural principles, which were applied to the plastic formation of the Gifts under the influence of Freobel's educational philosophy, are examined by analyzing the visual formative characteristics of Freobel's Gifts. Accordingly, through an analysis on the formative principles of the Gifts, it is studied how a system of abstract and philosophical thought was visually applied to forms. This study is a probing research on the formative characteristics presented in the Gifts and is an investigation of formation theory about geomatrice forms. The effects and problems of the formative features of teaching materials for little children are also examined from the viewpoint of design in this study.

This study analyzed the formative relationship between clothes and hat, and to find out the development direction of next hat design. To do these purposes, Fashion photos were picked up from all kinds of fashion magazines containing in Paris from the 1990's to 2004 S/S and some designers' collections. Then 1,381 photos were selected through two screenings. At first time, 1,500 photos were selected to have the relationship between clothes and hats, and finally 1,381 photos were picked. The method to analyze was the formative analysis by Marian L. Davis and Marilyn R. Delong. The results suggest that clothes and hat have an organic relationship, and a hat style is changed with formative elements of clothes.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the relationship between the visual sensibility and the decorative design of clothing. 41 kinds of costume samples have been selected from photographs in fashion magazines under detail and trimming, and divided into three types according to line, shape, and form. I have measured these images by using Semantic Differential method. The obtained data were analyzed by factor analysis ANOVA, discriminant analysis, regression analysis and MDS. The results of analysis are as follow; 1. Factor analysis has extracted five factors which consist of decorative design sensibility. These factors are Attractiveness, Hardness and Softness, Rhythm, Decorativeness, Cuteness. 2. There were significant differences in visual evaluation of decorative design and demographics 3. The discrimination among formative designs was closely related to decorative image, especially between line and form. 4. The Image effect on Preference, Buying needs, Riches and Pleasant was consist of complicated sensibility. 5. Evaluative dimensions of decorative design were identified by Simple-Complicated, Cubic -Plane perceptive image differed in degree of similarity in spite of same formative design.

This study's basic intention is to analyze property of combination relations of formative element composing robot' s face based on a result of preference response on robot's design. Also, in order to improve preference from the analysis result, the study intended to inquire into possibilities of suggesting design guideline. For the above, photographs of 27 robots' faces were selected as a experimental stimuli, and experiments on preference response and association response were performed. As a result, various properties such as robots' form of eyes having greater influences than facial structure, etc. Based on the result, each formative element's property that could have positive influence preference response on robot's face could be drawn and basic design guideline could also be suggested.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of formative assessments practiced in middle school science teaching from a constructivist perspective. In order to examine the practices of formative assessments in science teaching, 7 science classes were observed and video-taped for each of 2 instructions. We also interviewed the teachers and 3 students per each class with semi-structured questions. The findings indicated that 3 types of formative assessments were generally used in science teaching; planned, interactive, and transitional from planned to interactive. Teachers tended to assess students' personal, social, and scientific developments through formative assessments. The assessment of scientific development was the most frequent pattern and was classified into the assessments of content, process, and context. However, formative assessments concerning content covered in class were dominant. The processes of formative assessments consisted of three interdependent stages; getting informations from students, judging their responses, and giving feedbacks to them. The types of questions and feedbacks used were also influenced by the extent of interactions between the teachers and the students.

Creative application of exaggerated measurements and origami principles can make clothing design unique and formative clothing design possible. There have been many techniques applied to formative clothing design, but, in particular, origami principles, in company with exaggerated measurements, play a significant role in enlightening clothing uniqueness and formativeness in contemporary fashion design. The primary purpose of this study was to make a new suggestion for the production of high value-added fashion by reviewing and synthesizing exaggerated measurements and origami principles. Diverse relevant designs were retrieved through a comprehensive literature review on topic-related theses, books, and fashion media from 2000 and significant cases were retrieved from Rick Owens, Damir Doma & Haider Ackermann out of 2008 & 2009 F/W collections. From a comprehensive review, the following formative characteristics of exaggerated measurements and origami principles applied to clothing design were identified: (1) expandability, (2) fluidity, (3) deconstruction, and (4) irregularity. In addition, the following value of exaggerated measurements and origami principles applied to clothing design were identified: (1) alterability, (2) form potentiality, and (3) contradistinctive formativeness.

This study aims to apply the formative aesthetic of human body to the form of clothing. For this purpose I try to find the various methods of analysis used in the work of sculpture. The method of inference and the checklists of design are used to relate the sculpture with the clothing design specifically. This methodology intends to regard human body as an artistic form and use the image of sculpture to the maximum. Especially I try to derive the motives of design and recreate them in clothing design emphasizing silhouette. On this methodology, following results were developed. First, the observations on the formative characteristic of human body show that the transformed form of human body expresses more perfect image of human body than the original form. The power of simplicity heightens the total beauty of the work. Second, the image of human body expressed in simplicity heightens the total beauty of the work. Second, the image of human body expressed in simplicity and exaggeration can be variously recreated in a silhouette with the formative and cubic effect, simplicity, and activity. Third, the elegant and static image found in the analysis and synthesis of human body can be used as a motive of clothing design and the changed details lead to the transformation of silhouette. Fourth, in developing designs by the item of checklists, one motive can be variously recreated according to the methods of designs.

As a mirror of its time, fashion exactly reflects the trend of today' s society. In addition, as a tool to satisfy our desire and express images, it brings diverse image changes in people's minds. This kind of pattern is frequently found in wedding images, especially in wedding dresses. When it comes to a wedding dress, in general, we often think of a modest and pure-white one. In modem times, however, people prefer a differentiated image which reflects their personality and ego. In other words, it is an important means of expressing their own personality by focusing on their active and personal aspects and getting away from the passive, stable and formative aspects in the past. These days, a combination of narcissism and eroticism is found on wedding dresses. This kind of trend has been expressed into romanticism. In terms of the latest sensitive wedding dress trend, unique and creative couture wedding dresses have appeared. Therefore, this study has classified this kind of trend into two categories; Formative and Design aspects. According to an analysis on the formative and design aspects of romanticism in wedding dresses, diverse characteristics were observed in shape, color, material and ornament in the Formative Aspect. In terms of design, the characteristics of sensuality, ornament, exoticism and compromise were observed.

The aim of this study is to identify the formative feature of the Chippendale style of the 18th century and to understand the aesthetic feature of the Chippendale style applied in the modern fashion. This is significant in that new possibilities are proposed in fashion design in more holistic and multifaceted views by comparing and delving into the fashion vis-a-vis other fields in a bigger scope of the formative art. The Chippendale style furniture is a combination of various styles of different eras and regions such as Gothic and Chinese style based on the Rococo style. Today, It is regarded in fashion as a composite design of heterogeneous elements or very curvy decorative design. The Chippendale style of this kind is classified into the Rococo style, Gothic style and Chinese style. Depending on each classification, formative features including curves, asymmetry, decorativeness, geometrical feature, exoticism, compositeness and graceness were derived. In comparative studies, fashion and furniture of the Chippendale style have the similarity in formative features but there were some differences in the expressive method. This study analyzed the formative features of the Chippendale style represented in furniture and the modern fashion based on the Rococo-revival design in the modern fashion starting from 2000.
