PAUT-based defect detection method for submarine pressure hulls

  • A submarine has a pressure hull that can withstand high hydraulic pressure and therefore, requires the use of highly advanced shipbuilding technology. When producing a pressure hull, periodic inspection, repair, and maintenance are conducted to maintain its soundness. Of the maintenance methods, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is the most effective, because it does not damage the target but sustains its original form and function while inspecting internal and external defects. The NDT process to detect defects in the welded parts of the submarine is applied through Magnetic particle Testing (MT) to detect surface defects and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Radiography Testing (RT) to detect internal defects. In comparison with RT, UT encounters difficulties in distinguishing the types of defects, can yield different results depending on the skills of the inspector, and stores no inspection record. At the same time, the use of RT gives rise to issues related to worker safety due to radiation exposure. RT is also difficult to apply from the perspectives of the manufacturing of the submarine and economic feasibility. Therefore, in this study, the Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) method was applied to propose an inspection method that can address the above disadvantages by designing a probe to enhance the precision of detection of hull defects and the reliability of calculations of defect size.

Evaluation of the regenerative capacity of stem cells combined with bone graft material and collagen matrix using a rabbit calvarial defect model

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the regenerative capacity of stem cells combined with bone graft material and a collagen matrix in rabbit calvarial defect models according to the type and form of the scaffolds, which included type I collagen matrix and synthetic bone. Methods: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were obtained from the periosteum of participants. Four symmetrical 6-mm-diameter circular defects were made in New Zealand white rabbits using a trephine drill. The defects were grafted with (1) group 1: synthetic bone (β-tricalcium phosphate/hydroxyapatite [β-TCP/HA]) and 1×105 MSCs; (2) group 2: collagen matrix and 1×105 MSCs; (3) group 3: β-TCP/HA, collagen matrix covering β-TCP/HA, and 1×105 MSCs; or (4) group 4: β-TCP/HA, chipped collagen matrix mixed with β-TCP/HA, and 1×105 MSCs. Cellular viability and cell migration rates were analyzed. Results: Uneventful healing was achieved in all areas where the defects were made at 4 weeks, and no signs of infection were identified during the healing period or at the time of retrieval. New bone formation was more evident in groups 3 and 4 than in the other groups. A densitometric analysis of the calvarium at 8 weeks post-surgery showed the highest values in group 3. Conclusions: This study showed that the highest regeneration was found when the stem cells were applied to synthetic bone along with a collagen matrix.

광발광 측정법에 의한 $AgGaS_2$ 단결정 박막의 점결함 연구 (Study on Point Defect for $AgGaS_2$ Single Crystal Thin film Obtained by Photoluminescience Measurement Method)

  • [ $AgGaS_2$ ] 단결정 박막을 수평 전기로에서 합성한 $AgGaS_2$ 다결정을 증발원으로하여, hot wall epitaxy(HWE) 방법으로 증발원과 기판 (반절연성 -GaAs (100))의 온도를 각각 $590^{\circ}C,\;440^{\circ}C$로 고정하여 성장하였다. 이때 단결정 박막의 결정성은 광발광 스펙트럼과 이중결정 X-선 요동곡선 (DCRC)으로 부터 구하였다. $AgGaS_2$의 광흡수 스펙트럼으로부터 구한 온도에 의존하는 에너지 밴드갭 $E_g(T)$는 Varshni. 공식에 fitting한 결과 $E_g(T)=2.7284 eV-(8.695{\times}10^{-4}eV/K)T^2/T(T+332K)$를 잘 만족하였다. 성장된 $AgGaS_2$, 단결정 박막을 Ag, Ga, S분위기에서 각각 열처리하여 10K에서 photoluminescience(PL) spectrum을 측정하여 점 결함의 기원을 알아보았다. PL 측정으로부터 얻어진 $V_{Ag},\;V_s,\;Ag_{int}$, 그리고 $S_{int}$는 주개와 받개로 분류되어졌다. $AgGaS_2$ 단결정 박막을 Ag분위기에서 열처리하면 n형으로 변환됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한, Ca 분위기에서 열처리하면 열처리 이전의 PL스펙트럼을 보이고 있어서, $AgGaS_2$ 단결정 박막에서 Ga은 안정된 결합의 형태로 있기 때문에 자연 결함의 형성에는 관련이 없음을 알았다.

  • Sb에 기초한 응력 초격자 적외선검출소자의 구성 물질인 도핑하지 않은 기판 GaSb 결정과 GaSb/SI-GaAs 박막에 잔존하고 있는 진성결함 (intrinsic defect)을 비교 조사하였다. 상온 근처 (250 K)까지 광여기 발광 (PL)을 보이는 GaSb 결정에서의 발광 에너지의 온도의존성으로부터, 밴드갭 에너지에 관한 경험식인 Varshni 함수의 파라미터 ($E_o$, $\alpha$, $\beta$)를 결정하였다. GaAs 기판 위에 성장된 이종 GaSb 박막에서는 GaSb 주요 진성결함으로 알려져 있는 29 meV의 이온화 에너지를 가지는 위치반전 (antisite) Ga ([$Ga_{Sb}$]) 결함과 함께 위치반전 Sb ([$Sb_{Ga}$])와의 복합결함 ([$Ga_{Sb}-Sb_{Ga}$])과 관련된 것으로 분석된 732/711 meV의 한 쌍의 깊은준위 (deep level)가 관측되었다. PL의 온도 및 여기출력 의존성을 분석하여, Sb-rich상태에서 성장된 GaSb 박막에서는 잉여 Sb의 자발확산 (self-diffusion)에 의하여 치환된 위치전도 [$Ga_{Sb}$] 및 [$Sb_{Ga}$]가 결합하여 [$Ga_{Sb}-Sb_{Ga}$]의 깊은준위를 형성하는 것으로 해석되었다.

성견 치근이개부 병소에서 Calcium Sulfate 차폐막이 치주조직 재생에 미치는 영향에 대한 조직 병리학적 연구 (A Histo-Pathological Study of Effect on Periodontal Regeneration with Calcium Sulfate Membrane on The Grade II Furcation Defects in Beagle Dogs)

  • The present study evaluated the effects of guided tissue regeneration using xenograft material(deproteinated bovine bone powder), with and without Calcium sulfate membrane in beagle dogs. Contralateral fenestration defects (6 ${\times}$ 4 mm) were created 4 mm apical to the buccal alveolar crest of maxillary premolar teeth in 5 beagle dogs. Deproteinated bovine bone powders were implanted into fenestration defect and one randomly covered Calcium sulfate membrane (experimental group). Calcium sulfate membrane was used to provide GTR. Tissue blocks including defects with soft tissues which were harvested following four & eight weeks healing interval, prepared for histo-phathologic analysis. The results of this study were as follows, 1. In control group, at 4 weeks after surgery, new bony trabecular contacted with interstitial tissue and osteocytes lie cell were arranged in new bony trabecule. Bony lamellation was not observed. 2. In control group , at 8 weeks after surgery, scar-like interstitial tissue was filled defect and bony trabecule form lamellation. New bony trabecular was contacted with interstitial tissue but defect was not filled yet. 3. In experimental group, at 4 weeks after surgery, new bony trabecular partially recovered around damaged bone. But new bony trabecule was observed as irregularity and lower density. 4. In experimental group, at 8 weeks after surgery, lamella bone trabecular developed around bone cavity and damaged tissue was replaced with dense interstitial tissue. In conclusion, new bone formation regenerated more in experimental than control groups and there was seen observe more regular bony trabecular in experimental than control groups at 4 weeks after surgery. In control group, at 8 weeks after surgery, the defects was filled with scar-like interstitial tissue but, in experimental group, the defects was connected with new bone. Therefore xenograft material had osteoconduction but could not fill the defects. We thought that the effective regeneration of periodontal tissue, could be achieved using GTR with Calcium sulfate membrane.

양전자 소멸 측정법으로 양성자 조사에너지 변화에 대한 n, p형 실리콘 구조 특성 (Investigation of Various Radiation Proton Energy Effect on n, p Type Silicon by Positron Annihilation Method)

  • 동시 계수 도플러 넓어짐 양전자 소멸 분광법으로 n형과 p형 실리콘 시료에 40.0, 3.98 MeV 에너지를 가진 $0.0{\sim}20.0{\times}10^{13}protons/cm^2$ 양성자 빔 조사에 의한 결함을 측정하여 시료 특성을 조사하였다. 양전자와 전자의 쌍소멸로 발생하는 감마선 스펙트럼의 전자 밀도 에너지에 의한 수리적 해석 방법인 S-변수를 사용하여, 시료의 구조 변화를 측정하였다. 본 연구에서 측정된 S-변수는 시료에 조사된 양성자 조사량의 변화에 따라 결함이 증가하였으며, 그리고 40 MeV 양성자 빔의 세기는 n형 실리콘에서 빔의 조사량 $20.0{\times}10^{13}protons/cm^2$에서 3.98 MeV 보다 결함의 영향이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 그 결과 조사에 너지와 조사량의 상관관계를 비교 분석하였다. SRIM 시뮬레이션의 결과는, 양성자의 Bragg 피크 특성 때문에 시료 전체에 대한 결함으로 나타나기 보다는 양성자가 시료의 특정 깊이에 주로 결함을 형성하는 것을 보여 준다.

금속배관 건전성 감시를 위한 배열형 펄스와전류 탐촉자의 설계 및 배열신호 제안 (Design and Array Signal Suggestion of Array Type Pulsed Eddy Current Probe for Health Monitoring of Metal Tubes)

  • 본 논문에서는 외부에서의 탐촉자 스캐닝이 어려운 금속배관의 긴 축방향 결함이나 두께감육 등과 관련된 건전성을 감시하기 위하여 펄스와전류 신호의 피크치와 피크(발생)시간을 이용하는 배열형 탐촉자를 제안하였다. 탐촉자는 관을 따라 외삽형 코일들을 배열하고, 금속배관의 상태를 반영하는 자계는 와전류에 의해 생성되는 자계이므로 원천자계가 직접적으로 센서신호에 영향을 미치는 것을 막기 위하여 코일의 외부를 페라이트로 차폐하였다. 여자코일과 센서코일은 자동적으로 연속해서 위치를 이동하게 되므로 사람이 직접 탐촉자를 주사할 필요는 없다. 두 코일의 위치가 고정되어 있을 때 센서에서 감지되는 펄스와전류 신호에서 피크치와 피크시간을 추출하고, 모든 위치에서 추출되는 이 데이터들을 축적하여 배열형 피크치 신호와 배열형 피크시간 신호를 생성하였다. 수치 모사는 시간영역은 후향차분법으로, 공간은 유한요소법을 사용하여 수행되었다. 모사 결과는 결함의 깊이나 길이가 증가함에 따라 펄스와전류 신호에서 피크치가 증가하며 피크는 더 일찍 나타난다는 것을 보여 주었으며, 이를 활용하여 본 연구에서 제안한 배열신호들은 배열형 탐촉자 내부에서 결함의 깊이나 길이 변화뿐만 아니라 결함의 위치를 반영하는데에도 탁월함을 증명하였다.

토끼의 전층 복벽 결손 재건에서 무세포진피 ($SureDerm^{TM}$)와 합성물질(PROCEED$^{(R)}$)에 대한 생체적합성 비교 연구 (Comparative Study for Compatibility of Acellular Dermis ($SureDerm^{TM}$) and Synthetic Material (PROCEED$^{(R)}$) on Abdominal Wall Defect in Rabbit Models)

  • Purpose: Deficiencies of the abdominal wall can be the a result of infection, surgery, trauma, or primary herniation. For abdominal wall reconstruction, synthetic materials have been shown to provide a better long-term success rate than primary fascial repair. But, synthetic materials cannot elicit angiogenesis or produce growth factor and are therefore plagued by an inability to clear infection. As a result of the inherent drawbacks of synthetic, significant effort has been spent on the identification of new bioprosthetic materials. The aim of our study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a synthetic material (PROCEED$^{(R)}$) and an ADM ($SureDerm^{TM}$) to repair abdominal wall defects in a rabbit models. Methods: We measured the tensile strength of the $SureDerm^{TM}$ and PROCEED$^{(R)}$ by a Tension meter (Instron 4482). 16 Rabbit models were assigned to this study for abdominal wall reconstruction. Abdominal defect of 8 rabbits were reconstructed by PROCEED$^{(R)}$ and the rest were reconstructed by $SureDerm^{TM}$. We assessed gross and histologic examinations for the reconstructed abdominal wall. Results: The tensile strength of $SureDerm^{TM}$ and Gore Tex$^{(R)}$ is $14.64{\pm}0.51Mpa$, $8.54{\pm}0.45Mpa$. PROCEED$^{(R)}$ was estimated above the limits of measurement. Inflammatory reaction of PROCEED$^{(R)}$ persisted for 32weeks, but $SureDerm^{TM}$ decreased after 16weeks. Vascular ingrowth into the $SureDerm^{TM}$ was seen after 32 weeks. The basement membrane of $SureDerm^{TM}$ changed into a form of pseudoperitoneum. In PROCEED$^{(R)}$, it seemed like pseudoepithelial lining was made from the fibrosis around the mesh. Conclusion: In our study, the $SureDerm^{TM}$ not only have less inflammatory reaction and presented more angiogenesis than the PROCEED$^{(R)}$, but also have pseudoperitoneum formation. It is expected that $SureDerm^{TM}$ is useful for abdominal wall reconstruction. However, a long-term study of its usage consequences are thought to be needed.

Bridgeman 법에 의한 CdIn2Te4단결정 성장과 열처리 효과 (The Effect of Thermal Annealing and Growth of CdIn2Te4 Single Crystal by Bridgeman Method)

  • The $p-CdIn_2$$Te_4$single crystal was grown in the three-stage vertical electric furnace by using Bridgman method. The quality of the grown crystal has been investigated by the x-ray diffraction and the photoluminescence measurements. From the photoluminescence spectra of the as-grown $CdIn_2$$Te_4$crystal and the various heat-treated crystals, the ($D^{\circ}$, X) emission was found to be the dominant intensity in the photoluminescence spectrum of the $CdIn_2$T $e_4$:Cd, while the ($A^{\circ}$, X) emission completely disappeared in the $CdIn_2$T $e_4$:Cd. However, the ($A^{\circ}$, X) emission in the photoluminescence spectrum of the $CdIn_2$T $e_4$:Te was the dominant intensity like an as-grown $CdIn_2$T $e_4$crystal. These results indicated that the ($D^{\circ}$, X) is associated with $V_{Te}$ acted as donor and that the ($A^{\circ}$, X) emission is related to $V_{cd}$ acted as acceptor, respectively. The $p-CdIn_2$T $e_4$crystal was found to be obviously converted into the n-type after annealing in the Cd atmosphere. The origin of ( $D^{\circ}$, $A^{\circ}$) emission and its TO phonon replicas is related to the interaction between donors such as $V_{Te}$ or $Cd_{int}$, and accepters such as $V_{cd}$ or T $e_{int}$. Also, the In in the $CdIn_2$X$CdIn_4$was confirmed not to form the native defects because it existed in the stable form of bonds.

습윤양생 장치를 이용한 아파트 측벽 균열제어에 관한 연구 (Study on the Crack Control Effect of Moist Curing Equipment in Side Wall of Building)

  • 최근 국내 아파트의 외벽 거푸집공사의 경우 대부분 갱폼 시스템을 통해 철근콘크리트 구조체를 시공하고 있다. 이러한 갱폼 거푸집을 사용한 콘크리트의 경우는 거푸집 탈형 후 외부환경에 노출되고 특히, 건조한 봄, 가을과 일사량이 높은 서중시기의 벽량이 많은 아파트 측벽에 다량의 균열이 발생되어지고 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 신축 아파트 건설현장 중심으로 균열량이 많은 아파트 측벽부분의 갱폼시스템에 습윤양생 자동설비장치를 적용하여 초기 콘크리트 양생에 필요한 수분을 공급함으로써 콘크리트의 품질확보와 다량의 측벽균열 저감을 통한 습윤양생 자동장치의 효율성 및 활용성을 검토하고자 하였는데, 그 결과, 양생 효과 및 낙수량 고려 시 습윤양생 자동장치에 0.3mm 사이즈의 노즐을 사용하여 살수양생을 실시할 경우, 자원낭비 없이 콘크리트의 품질향상 및 균열저감에 효과적인 것으로 판단되었다.
