  • The building HVAC systems have very different qualities of performance and durability with the superintendent's ability for management and maintenance. The poor management of these systems finally lead to the shortening of the life expectancy and result in the increase of operating costs and energy consumptions due to low efficiencies. So it is essential to try to develop ways to adequately maintain and to use the building facilities efficiently in order to preserve earth environment and the limited resource. In this study, the LCC based numerical calculation package will be developed for the efficient maintenance plan and the determination of the reasonable time of repair or replacement of equipments.

  • Disaster Resources are the resources used in the disaster fields such as fire, typhoon, flood, collapse, flood damage, distress, relief, sanitary, explosion and so forth. The resources are distributed by the several institutes including governmental agencies, public institution, and private sectors. When the large scale disaster is occurred, many kinds of the disaster resources are needed. But it is not easy to know where institutes has the needed resources, because the resource management systems are all distributed in the each institute. To integrate or connect the resource data among the systems, it need the several kinds of coordinations such as terms, classification, and resource exchange protocols. In this paper, we propose the standard specifications and how to connect and exchange the data among the systems.

  • Various methods that crash the project completion time have been studied. Line-of-Balance (LOB) is well accepted as a useful method that enables steady resource utilization without frequent hire-and-fire of resources for a project having repetitive units. Existing studies involved in LOB-CPM focuses on thesis such as resource leveling and optimization in construction scheduling community. However, crashing methods are not arrived at a full maturity in LOB scheduling, because no one handles steady resource utilization while keeping activity-relationships. This paper proposes a method that crashes project completion time by hybridizing concurrent engineering and LOB scheduling without using additional resources.

  • In order to recover gold from iron-hydroxide in acid mine drainage, a lead-fire assay has been used. Acid mine drainage is generated from mining waste rocks, and iron-hydroxide precipitates from acid mine drainage, which severely contaminates the area surrounding the mine. Iron-hydroxide samples contain on average 520.29 mg/kg of Fe, 4,414.62 mg/kg sulfur, and 16.19 mg/kg Au. In an XRD analysis, quartz and goethite were observed along with the iron-hydroxide. Using a lead-fire assay, the recovery of pure gold was on average 0.174 g/ton from the iron-hydroxide, whereas the gold not recovered in the process was on average 1.37 mg/kg. This unrecovered gold was lost to the glass slag due to the galena and lead formation. The galena and lead in the glass slag was identified through XRD.

  • This study established analysis theory for flow characteristics prediction of the spray nozzle and predicted discharge and discharge type of the spray nozzle from numerical analysis. It could know that discharge type of the spray nozzle from prediction data determine to position of nozzle and needle, and flow characteristics prediction of the spray nozzle could know that the characteristics according to shape of nozzle and needle is decided. New model of the spray nozzle that can maximize efficiency of fire suppression from flow characteristics and prediction data of the spray nozzle is presented. The result of this study utilize to data necessary to develop new model of the spray nozzle. Also the result of this study wish to contribute to resource technology security of the spray nozzle, technique ripple effect enlargement of same kind industry and technical development activation of fire protection field etc.

  • The performances of the building service equipment relay on the individual superintendent's share for the assessment of performance, fault detection, deterioration diagnosis of the building service equipment. A major use of building energy management system(BEMS) is for monitoring plant and building's energy consumption. National building management system (N-BMS) presented in this study links buildings into a network group in order to monitor and control the buildings. How to construct the N-BMS was considered to save energy resource and to conserve performance of building service equipment. The FEMIS, facility, energy/environmental management & information system, for building service offer management process integrated with BAS, FMS and EMS and so on.

  • A new methodology to detect forest fire burnt scars at near real time using MODIS (Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) data is presented here with a goal of introducing a new and improved capability to detect forest fire burnt scars in Thailand. This new technology is expected to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the forest fire tackling resources distribution and management of the country. Using MODIS data in burnt scars detection has two major advantages - high availability of data and high resolution per performance ratio. Results prove the near real time algorithm suitable and working well in order to monitor the forest fire dynamic movement. The algorithm is based on the threshold separated linear equation of burnt and un-burnt. A ground truth experiment confirms the burnt and un-burnt? areas characteristics (temperature and NDVI). A threshold line on a scatter plot of Band I and Band 2 is determined to separate the burnt from un-burnt pixels. The different threshold values of NDVI and temperature use to identify pixels' anomaly, abnormal low NDVI and high temperature. The overlay (superimpose) method is used to verify burnt pixels. Since forest fire is a dynamic phenomenon, MODIS burnt scars information is suiting well to fill in the missing temporal information of LANDSAT for the forest fire control managing strategy in Thailand. This study was conducted in the Huai-Kha-Kaeng (HKK) Wildlife Sanctuary, Thailand

  • In this study, we develop a fire stochastic simulation model by season based on the historical fire data in Korea. The model is utilized to generate sequences of fire events that are consistent with Korean fire history. We employ a three-stage approach. First, a random draw from a Bernoulli distribution is used to determine if any fire occurs for each day of a simulated fire season. Second, if a fire does occur, a random draw from a geometric multiplicity distribution determines their number. Last, ignition times for each fire are randomly drawn from a Poisson distribution. This specific distributional forms are chosen after analysis of Korean historical fire data. Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) is used to estimate the primary parameters of the stochastic models. Fire sequences generated with the model appear to follow historical patterns with respect to diurnal distribution and total number of fires per year. We expect that the results of this study will assist a fire manager for planning fire suppression policies and suppression resource allocations.
