Soil and groundwater contamination by petroleum hydrocarbon products is only one of many environmental problems in Korea. However, many environmental consulting companies have been targeted their business on this subject because the petroleum-oil-lubricant (POL) products have been widely used product and accidental releases of the products from storages resulted numerous small and large contaminated sites throughout Korea. Therefore, many small and large companies are actively participating in environmental assessment and remediation projects for the POL contaminated sites. Remedial technologies for the POL contaminated sites have been developed for many years by government and private institutions throughout the world. Development of a new decontamination technology for the POL contaminated sites is no longer attractive issue in research community because scientific bases of most cost-effective remedial technologies are well understood and have been used in the field by commercial sector. Numerous sites contaminated by underground tanks at gas stations have been remediated by relatively small companies in this country. We should appreciate their noticeable contributions as a frontier under very difficult market environment in Korea. We heard many successful stories as well as a few failure stories. Soil-groundwater remediation of POL contaminated site is not a simple task as shown in the text books or protocols. Therefore, failure risk is always with us, which requires continuous efforts for improvement of the technologies by the users and developers. In this presentation, author will discuss technical problems encountered and improvement made during implementation of several remedial technologies applied by Samsung Environmental Team. This is not a presentation about research or case study. We want to share our thought and experience with environmental engineers actively engaged in soil and groundwater remediation projects in Korea.
This study aimed to explore social work practice tasks and KSA(Knowledge, Skill, Ability) that are being used most frequently in practice field so that developing contents of training program for social worker. The participants in this study included 340 social worker in community welfare center nationwide and exploratory statistical methods were used. The specific result were as follows: 1.social work service was classified four dimensions(direct service, community service, organizational strategic and human resource management, and indirect service). 2.In each dimension, important practice tasks were screened. 3.Basic KSA of social worker that were needed to perform these tasks successfully were screened. On basis of these results, this paper provided some practical strategics for developing training program.

Li-air cell is an exotic type of energy storage and conversion device considered to be half battery and half fuel cell. Its successful commercialization highly depends on the timely development of key components. Among these key components, the catalyst (i.e., the core portion of the air electrode) is of critical importance and of the upmost priority. Indeed, it is expected that these catalysts will have a direct and dramatic impact on the Li-air cell's performance by reducing overpotentials, as well as by enhancing the overall capacity and cycle life of Li-air cells. Unfortunately, the technological advancement related to catalysts is sluggish at present. Based on the insights gained from this review, this sluggishness is due to challenges in both the commercialization of the catalyst, and the fundamental studies pertaining to its development. Challenges in the commercialization of the catalyst can be summarized as 1) the identification of superior materials for Li-air cell catalysts, 2) the development of fundamental, material-based assessments for potential catalyst materials, 3) the achievement of a reduction in both cost and time concerning the design of the Li-air cell catalysts. As for the challenges concerning the fundamental studies of Li-air cell catalysts, they are 1) the development of experimental techniques for determining both the nano and micro structure of catalysts, 2) the attainment of both repeatable and verifiable experimental characteristics of catalyst degradation, 3) the development of the predictive capability pertaining to the performance of the catalyst using fundamental material properties. Therefore, under the current circumstances, it is going to be an extremely daunting task to develop appropriate catalysts for the commercialization of Li-air batteries; at least within the foreseeable future. Regardless, nano materials are expected to play a crucial role in this field.
Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the level of ethical values and its related factors among some paramedic students. Methods: The subjects of this study were 480 paramedic students from five universities located in G-metropolitan city and J province. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlations, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The mean scores of level of ethical values, academic self-efficacy and self-esteem were $3.70{\pm}0.45$, $3.15{\pm}0.42$ and $3.60{\pm}0.70$, respectively. In the correlation analysis, ethical value level was significantly positively correlated with self-esteem (r=.195, p< .001) and academic self-efficacy (r=.156, p= .001), of domains in academic self-efficacy, self-regulation efficacy (r=.230, p< .001) and confidence (r=.105, p= .022). In multiple regression analysis, self-esteem (${\beta}=.163$, p= .026), task ease preferences (${\beta}=-.350$, p< .001) and confidence (${\beta}=.403$, p< .001) were significantly related to ethical value levels. In addition, subjects willing to participate in the bioethics education showed higher relevance to ethical values than indifferent subjects (${\beta}=2.751$, p= .003). Conclusion: Concrete and systematic education will be needed in order to foster the establishment of ethical values of the paramedic students. Additionally, to fulfill their roles and obligations as emergency medical technicians, in the field, various educational curricula based on simulated cases in the university should be introduced.

Traditionally, the GPS coordinates of a transmission tower have been measured at the center of the tower on the ground, which usually takes dozens of minutes. However, this method often produces errors of tens of meters or sometimes demands several hours due to signal interference from the huge steel structure of the tower. To solve this problem, in this paper, a new measuring method for GPS coordinates of steel towers is proposed. First, instead of measuring the center of a tower, four GPS coordinates of the edges of the tower are obtained by using a measuring device with three GPS modules, and then are averaged to find the center of the tower. When a measured value is deviated considerably by signal interference, a newly proposed algorithm filters out such an inaccurate coordinate, effectively calculating the center of the tower by using other edge coordinates. Through field tests, it was confirmed that this new algorithm could improve the task efficiency and its measuring accuracy for GPS coordinates in a GPS interference environment.

In recent years the interest in online monitoring of lightweight structures with ultrasonic guided waves is steadily growing. Especially the aircraft industry is a driving force in the development of structural health monitoring (SHM) systems. In order to optimally design SHM systems powerful and efficient numerical simulation tools to predict the behaviour of ultrasonic elastic waves in thin-walled structures are required. It has been shown that in real industrial applications, such as airplane wings or fuselages, conventional linear and quadratic pure displacement finite elements commonly used to model ultrasonic elastic waves quickly reach their limits. The required mesh density, to obtain good quality solutions, results in enormous computational costs when solving the wave propagation problem in the time domain. To resolve this problem different possibilities are available. Analytical methods and higher order finite element method approaches (HO-FEM), like p-FEM, spectral elements, spectral analysis and isogeometric analysis, are among them. Although analytical approaches offer fast and accurate results, they are limited to rather simple geometries. On the other hand, the application of higher order finite element schemes is a computationally demanding task. The drawbacks of both methods can be circumvented if regions of complex geometry are modelled using a HO-FEM approach while the response of the remaining structure is computed utilizing an analytical approach. The objective of the paper is to present an efficient method to couple different HO-FEM schemes with an analytical description of an undisturbed region. Using this hybrid formulation the numerical effort can be drastically reduced. The functionality of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by studying the propagation of ultrasonic guided waves in plates, excited by a piezoelectric patch actuator. The actuator is modelled utilizing higher order coupled field finite elements, whereas the homogenous, isotropic plate is described analytically. The results of this "semi-analytical" approach highlight the opportunities to reduce the numerical effort if closed-form solutions are partially available.

The proper position of a multi-leaf collimator (MLC) is essential for the quality of intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated arc radiotherapy (VMAT) dose delivery. Task Group (TG) 142 provides a quality assurance (QA) procedure for MLC position. Our study investigated the QA validation of the mechanical leaf gap measurement and the maintenance procedure. Two $VitalBeam^{TM}$ systems were evaluated to validate the acceptance of an MLC position. The dosimetric leaf gaps (DLGs) were measured for 6 MV, 6 MVFFF, 10 MV, and 15 MV photon beams. A solid water phantom was irradiated using $10{\times}10cm^2$ field size at source-to-surface distance (SSD) of 90 cm and depth of 10 cm. The portal dose image prediction (PDIP) calculation was implemented on a treatment planning system (TPS) called $Eclipse^{TM}$. A total of 20 VMAT plans were used to confirm the accuracy of dose distribution measured by an electronic portal imaging device (EPID) and those predicted by VMAT plans. The measured leaf gaps were 0.30 mm and 0.35 mm for VitalBeam 1 and 2, respectively. The DLG values decreased by an average of 6.9% and 5.9% after mechanical MLC adjustment. Although the passing rates increased slightly, by 1.5% (relative) and 1.2% (absolute) in arc 1, the average passing rates were still within the good dose delivery level (>95%). Our study shows the existence of a mechanical leaf gap error caused by a degenerated MLC motor. This can be recovered by reinitialization of MLC position on the machine control panel. Consequently, the QA procedure should be performed regularly to protect the MLC system.
Recent changes in educational paradigms that emphasize the performance or outcomes of education are redefining how learning objectives are being described as 'learning outcomes' in various academic disciplines. Medical education is not an exception to this trend. However, it has come to our attention that the key concepts and appropriate descriptions of learning outcomes have not been well understood among educators and that this lack of understanding has hindered our efforts to implement the practice in the field. This study aims to provide a direction to establish and describe learning outcomes by examining previous studies that have focused on setting learning objectives as well as learning outcomes. Setting and describing learning outcomes starts from reflection on the approach of behavioral learning objectives, which overemphasizes learner's acquired knowledge, skills, and attitude in each classroom rather than actual performance. On the other hand, the learning outcome approach focuses on what the learner is able to do as a result of a learning experience. This approach is more learner-friendly and encourages students to lead and be responsible for their learning process. Learning outcomes can best be described when the relevance of actual contexts and the hierarchy of learning objectives are considered. In addition, they should be in the form of context, task, performance, and level, as well as be planned with proper assessment and feedback procedures. When these conditions are met, the learning outcome approach is beneficial to students as it presents a curriculum that is more open to learners. Despite these advantages of the learning outcome approach, there is a possible concern that setting the learning outcomes and describing them can restrict evaluation to lower cognitive skills if the concept of learning outcome is narrowly interpreted or is set too low. To avoid such narrow applications, it is important for educators to understand the comprehensiveness of the learning outcome setting and to consider long-term outcomes embedded in an organizational vision rather than only short-term behavioral outcomes.

The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship among the self-directed learning ability, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement of elementary school students. The subjects of this study were 197 sixth graders. The results of this study were as follows. First, the correlations among self-directed learning ability, academic self-efficacy and academic achievement were significant. Second, among the variables of self-directed learning ability and academic self-efficacy, self-confidence, preference for task difficulty, self-understanding of learner and independent mind of learning were positively related to academic achievement. These results imply the need for measures to increase these variables of academic efficacy and self-directed learning ability in the field of education in order to improve students' academic achievement.

Though the rate of incidence of each rare disease, including mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS), is low, this is not the case if they are taken as a whole. Rare diseases often have genetic causes and vary in type. However, the signs and symptoms vary greatly by disease, making it difficult to make accurate diagnoses and conduct necessary research, which is why we believe it is a field that deserves more attention and research. It is important to establish an infrastructure of experts in each country and promote cooperation within the Asia-Pacific region in order to improve specialist training and communication. Given the need for a system of cooperation, the Asia Pacific MPS Network (APMN) was established by several MPS experts in South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan in January 2013. Thereafter, the Asia Pacific MPS Registry (APMR), an electronic remote data system, was established by the APMN. Then, the Association for Research of MPS & Rare Diseases (ARMRD), an academic society that supports research on MPS and other rare diseases, was established by President Dong-Kyu Jin in April in 2015. The main task of the ARMRD is to support APMN-related work. The ARMRD published a uniform guideline that reflects the characteristics and circumstances of local patients through the Korean MPS Expert Council. Now, the APMN, APMR, and the annual Korean MPS Symposium are supported by ARMRD. Organizations like the APMN and APMR are necessary because international cooperation and collaboration are needed to conduct clinical trials on those diseases. ARMRD members hope to encourage the interest of experts and researchers of MPS & rare diseases as well as active participation in the research and treatment of patients suffering from rare diseases, including MPS, to ultimately improve the quality of life of the patients as well as their families.
