Superoxide and Hydrogen Peroxide Scavenging Action of Ocimum Sanctum Extracts and their Fractions

  • Ocimum sanctum, the Indian holy basil has significant abilities to scavenge highly reactive free radicals. Shade dried leaf powder of plant has extracted with water and alcohol, fractionated with different solvents. Both extracts and their fractions were found to be good scavengers of Superoxide and hydrogen peroxide. Free radical scavenging action of these compared with ascorbic acid, a known antioxidant.

보육교사가 인식하는 동료교사와의 갈등 원인 및 대응에 관한 연구 (Teacher-Teacher Conflicts in Childcare Centers : Causes and Process of Resolution)

  • 본 연구는 어린이집에 근무하고 있는 보육교사들이 동료교사와의 관계 속에서 어떠한 갈등을 경험하고 있는지 그리고 갈등상황에서 어떻게 대응하고 있는지 심층면담을 통하여 알아봄으로써, 동료교사와의 갈등을 원만히 해결하기 위한 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다. 보육교사로 재직 중인 교사5명을 연구대상으로 하였고, 면담은 2011년 9월 7일부터 2011년 10월 4일까지 각각 3~4회 이루어졌다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과 보육교사는 동료교사와의 관계 속에서 경력에 따른 위계질서, 미흡한 사회적 관계 맺기 기술, 개인이 가진 가치관 및 교육관의 차이, 비지원적인 동료교사관계 등으로 인하여 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 이러한 갈등상황 속에서 교사개인의 판단 및 관계 개선에 대한 의지에 따라 동료교사와의 관계에 긍정적 또는 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이처럼 동료교사와의 관계 속에서 다양한 갈등을 경험하고 있었으며, 갈등 및 대응과정을 통해서 교사관계의 중요성을 인식하고 있었다.

교사 행위자성(teacher agency)에 기반한 가정과교사의 포괄적 성교육 실천 탐구 (A Practical Exploration of Comprehensive Sexuality Education by Home Economics Teachers Based on an Ecological Model of Teacher Agency)

  • Based on an ecological model of teacher agency, the purpose of this study was to examine the relevance of HE (home economics) subjects and CSE (comprehensive sexuality education) for HE teachers, and their implementation in HE classes. To achieve this, a survey was conducted with HE teachers nationwide for which 243 responses were collected, and interviews were conducted with five HE teachers who were actively practicing CSE. The results of the survey and interview were as follows. First, HE teachers strongly recognized the relevance of HE subjects and the topic of CSE with an average score of 4.63 (out of 5 points), and practiced CSE at an average of 72.23% (97.12%~43.21%) in their class. Second, based on the ecological approach model of teacher agency, the factors facilitating the CSE practice of HE teachers included: childbirth and parenting experienced as parents, experiences of students encountering sexual problems in school, the philosophy and content of HE subjects, positive feedback from students and support from fellow teachers, and intention to help students in their lives. Conversely, HE teachers cited a lack of sexual education experience as learners, complaints from parents, weakness of HE teacher networks, lack of specific statements in curriculum and textbooks, insufficient class content and teacher training, and lack of absolute class time. This study is significant in revealing that CSE is highly relevant to the contents of HE subjects and is already being practiced in HE classes.

초등학교 교사의 정보 요구 및 이용 행태에 관한 연구 (A Study on Information Need and Use Behavior of Elementary Teachers According to Their Task)

  • 본 연구는 초등교사들의 정보추구행태를 분석하여 학교도서관의 교육정보서비스 개발에 시사점을 얻는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이에 초등교사 11명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하여 초등교사들이 인식하는 역할과 업무에 대한 인식을 분석하고, 이에 따른 정보 요구와 주 정보원을 파악하였다. 분석 결과 초등교사들은 자신의 역할과 업무를 담임 업무, 교수·학습활동, 학교 담당 업무, 기타 업무 순으로 그 중요성을 인식하고 있었으며, 이에 따라 웹정보 및 인적 정보, 도서 정보 등을 정보원으로 활용하고 있었다. 각 역할과 업무에 따라 웹정보 또는 인적 정보를 주로 활용하는 것으로 나타났으며, 초등교사 간 웹 커뮤니티가 주 정보원으로 인식되는 경향을 보였다. 이에 학교도서관에서 운영하는 다양한 교육정보를 많은 초등교사들이 이용하는 웹 정보원에서 공유하는 것, 초등교사들과 학습 공동체 형성을 통해 협력적 교육 정보서비스를 제공하는 것, 학교도서관을 통해 다양한 담임 업무 관련 도서를 제공하는 것 등을 제안하였다.

사서 교사의 효능감에 관한 연구 (A Study of Teacher Libarians' Efficacy)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 사서 교사가 지닌 효능감 특징을 분석하고, 효능감 강화 방안을 제안하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2018년도 K 대학 1급 사서교사 자격연수에 참여한 전국의 사서 교사 30명을 대상으로 설문을 하였다. 분석 결과 사서 교사의 효능감은 평균 3.38점이며, 교수법 효능감(3.60점)이 높고, 집단 효능감(3.38점)과 개인 효능감(3.18점)은 낮게 나타났다. 사서 교사는 수업운영, 불우 학생 지도 의지 및 문제 학생 지도 가능성 판단에 대한 개인 효능감과 동료 교사 및 학부모와의 갈등 관리에 대한 집단 효능감이 높았다. 반면에 문제 학생의 원인 분석과 지도, 어려운 내용 및 과목 지도에 대한 개인 효능감이 낮았다. 또 관리자 및 교육청과의 갈등에 대한 집단 효능감이 낮았다. 사서 교사들은 학생에 대한 교수법 방법 개선 노력에 대한 의지가 강하며, 학생 동기화와 교수 준비에 대해서 높은 효능감을 보였다. 그러나 학습 기술이 부족하고, 다양한 교수법이 부족하다는 인식을 가진 것으로 나타났다. 사서 교사 효능감에 영향을 끼친 변인은 출신 학부, 학력, 근무학교 규모, 경력 등이며, 특히 학력이 높을수록 문제 학생 및 불우 학생 지도에 대한 자신감과 열정이 높고 교수법에 대한 자신감이 강했다. 또한, 동료 및 학부모와의 갈등해결과 교수법에 대한 신뢰도 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구에서는 사서 교사 효능감 향상 방안으로 양성에서의 교직 이수비율 확대, 임용 전 사서 교사 연수 제도 개선, 장학체계 확립 그리고 대학원 진학을 통한 전문성 향상 노력 등을 제안하였다.

교사학습공동체 활동을 통한 가정과 교사의 성찰적 실천에 대한 실행연구 (An Action Research for Reflective Practice of Home Economics Teacher through Professional Learning Community Activity)

  • The purpose of this research is to apprehend what the power of professional learning community (PLC) to make home economics teachers participate is and how PLC activity contributes to reflective practice and change of participating home economics teachers by experiencing reflective practices. For this, self-reflective action research of Kemmis and McTaggart was conducted. Six home economics teachers participated voluntarily and totally 18 PLC sessions from May 31, 2013 to May 19, 2014 were held. Two themes of 'looking in classes' as a main practice theme and 'designing classes together' as a supporting theme were carried. Findings and conclusions of this study are as following. First, participants of PLC to get data and information on teaching and to solve problems with fellow teachers for better classes at first. However, they have become to comfort and sympathize each other about difficulties in school as home economics teachers. Second, through the PLC activity, they found they had uncomfortable belief about teaching and tried to practice solutions by critical and reflective thinking. Third, they put efforts in finding alternative framework of looking inside their classes for the fundamental improvement in teaching. For this, they formulated questionnaire to describe their own reflective practice through the alternative framework from a critical perspective in teaching, a view of student's learning, and a teacher's inner view for improvement of practice. Fourth, PLC activity for a year allowed them to combine theory and reality though reflective process by designing classes together and reflectively practicing them in classes.

지각향성검사에 의한 전문직 간호 교수들의 직업효율성에 관한 일 연구 (STUDY ON EFFECTIVENESS OF NURSING PROFESSORS BY PERCEPTUAL ORIENTATION SCALE)

  • This thesis intends to make a study on the effectiveness of Nursing Professors through perceptual psychological approach. Purpose of the Study Researches have been made relating teacher′s effectiveness measurement. However, they share a common defect that they have been done on the basis of superficial aspects of the problems aspects that can bi measured by general objective survey only, but this study is designed "to understand his behavior in terms of a human behaving and of a self as an instrument"-principle, based upon the Perceptual Psychology which puts more stress on the inner perception than on the external one. Method of the Study This thesis is based chiefly on the two sources : "Perceptual Orientation Scale"(Chunghoon Choy, 1971) which has been standardized on the basis of perceptual psychology and the question acres made by the researcher of this thesis and given to the 34 Nursing Professors in seoul and other country. Result of the Study The method of data operation by Pearson "r" asserts that there were distinct deep relation Between Perceptual orientation and fellow′s estimate, while a little relation among the estimate of a-administration, educational backgrounds and occupations but no relations the status of experiences. It can be concluded that the estimates between fellows working at "the same fields" have kept deep relations together on perceptual orientation which resulted from finding out a useful method to measure occupational effectiveness according to the perceptual field. Conclusion of the Study The personnel administration has been managed according to external flatus and not positive operation: on the other hand, this study holds, It shall be operated in accordance with the estimates by fellow, the "Preceptual Orientation Scale" for more positive ability. The study requires the following researches on the devoted professional occupations, such as medical doctors, teachers, nurses, etc. for the purpose of increasing their occupational effectiveness more scientifically.

초등 예비교사들의 '배추흰나비 한살이' 탐구에서 나타난 지식변환 유형 탐색 (A Study on Knowledge Conversion Types in Pre-service Elementary Teachers Inquiring 'The Life Cycle of Cabbage Butterfly')

  • This study divided pre-service elementary school teachers' knowledge conversion into four types, socialization, externalization, combination and internalization, based on their inquiry activities on the life cycle of cabbage butterfly. As research subjects, this study collected results from 24 pre-service elementary school teachers who carried out inquires on the life cycle of cabbage butterfly for about 2 months. The type of socialization indicates the conversion of tacit knowledge into tacit knowledge, and this study found out that pre-service elementary school teachers acquired and accumulated tacit knowledge from their fellow pre-service teachers, professors and even acquaintances inside and outside the lab. However, there appeared no process that they shared their tacit knowledge with other pre-service teachers or delivered it to them. The type of externalization indicates the conversion of tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge, and this study discovered some cases that pre-service elementary school teachers expressed their inner tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge. However, there was no case found that they converted the verbally-unexpressed tacit knowledge of their fellow teachers or experts into well-defined explicit knowledge. The type of combination indicates the conversion of explicit knowledge into explicit knowledge, and this study discovered some cases that they collected explicit knowledge and converted it into new explicit knowledge for the acquisition, integration and delivery or distribution of explicit knowledge. However, there were few cases that they creatively devised new explicit knowledge by acquiring new knowledge through direct observation and supplementing the existing explicit knowledge. The type of internalization indicates the conversion of explicit knowledge into tacit knowledge, and this study discovered both explicit knowledge embodied through personal experiences and explicit knowledge embodied through simulations and experiments that formed tacit knowledge in process of examining the existing explicit knowledge.

초등학교 초임교사가 학교에서 맺는 인간관계에 대한 어려움과 그 해결전략에 관한 사례연구 (A Case Study on the Human Relation Difficulties of Elementary School Beginning Teachers and the Resolution Strategy in the School)

  • 본 연구는 교사의 생애주기 속에서 초등학교 초임교사의 특징을 탐구하고 그 특징에 따른 해결전략을 제시하는 데 있다. 이로 인해 초임교사가 교직에 잘 적응할 수 있도록 도와줌으로써 교육의 질을 높이고 신규교사 스스로가 초임교사 기간 동안 좋은 교사로 성장할 수 있는 준비기로 받아들일 수 있도록 도와주는 것이 이 연구의 목적이다. 초임교사가 학교에서 맺는 인간관계에 대한 어려움은 크게 관리자와 동료교사와의 관계, 학부모와의 관계, 학생과의 관계 3가지로 나뉠 수 있다. 학교의 통일문화와 그 문화를 강요하는 관리자와 동료교사는 초임교사를 힘들게 할 수 있으며 또, 초임교사가 첫 학교에서 어떤 동료교사를 만나느냐에 따라 초임교사의 성장에 큰 영향을 준다. 초임교사들은 학급경영경험이 적으며, 학생을 다루는 기술이 부족하여 교실에서 학생들을 통제하는 데 어려움을 겪으며, 초임교사 기간 동안 교실 안에서 일어나는 여러 가지 문제를 해결하는 과정 속에서 숙련된 교사로서 성장해 나간다. 뿐만아니라 자신을 초보자로 대하는 학부모의 태도에서 초임교사는 어려움을 겪고 자신감을 잃기도 하며 학부모의 태도에 따라서 학생상담이나 지도에 영향을 받기도 한다. 이러한 교육주체들과의 문제 속에서 초임교사들이 주로 해결하는 전략은 모방하기, 경청과 수용, 합리화하기, 포기하기이다. 초임교사의 이러한 어려움을 해결하기 위해서는 초임교사 연수 중에 초임교사의 어려움과 해결방안에 대하여 이야기할 수 있는 공간과 시간이 필요하며 학교 내에서 멘토링제도를 활성화 할 필요가 있다. 마지막으로 교육지원청에서는 초임교사에 관한 질적연구를 지속적으로 진행하여 사례집을 발간하여 초임교사들에게 실질적인 도움이 되도록 해야 한다.

Feedback on Peer Feedback in EFL Composing: Four Stories

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate prospective teachers' perceptions of the peer review comments readily available to them during the writing process in a teacher training class. Given these needs, we employ a qualitative method of inquiry giving voice to the learner's own view of peer feedback. The data we wish to consider is first-person narratives elicited from four EFL college students, who are prospective teachers of English. With regard to the EFL students' narrative considered here, all were attentive to the feedback they received. Moreover, the way in which these EFL writers talk about peer response activity reflects that they still welcome peer feedback because of the benefits to be accrued from it. Although this study, covering only four EFL students in total, can hardly be considered conclusive, we attempt to offer a synthesis of their stories. First of all, students indicate that they received responses from "authentic readers" (Mittan 1989, 209). We do note, consequently, that students gain a clear understanding of readers' needs by receiving feedback on what they did well and on what seems unclear. Perhaps the greater effect of peer feedback claimed by these students is that they take active roles in utilizing peer comments. Since they feel uncertain about the validity of their classmates' responses, students feel that they have autonomy over their own text and can make their own decisions on whether they should accept their peer comments or not. This contrasts with their treatment of teacher comments that they accept begrudgingly even if they disagree with them. Four EFL writers talked a lot, typically in a positive way, about peer response to their writing, yet they have expressed reservations about the extent to which they should put any credence in comments offered by their fellow students. Perhaps this is because their fellow students are still developing writers and EFL learners. In turn, they were sometimes reluctant to accept the peers' comments. Thus, in EFL contexts, L1 use can be suggested during peer feedback sessions. In particular, we have come to feel that L1 use enables both reviewers and receivers to have more productive peer review experiences. Additionally, we need to train students not "to see peer feedback as potentially bad advice" (Silva et al. 2003, 111). Teachers should focus on training students to utilize their peers' comments. Without such training, students will either ignore feedback or fail to use it constructively.
