UWB 통신시스템에서 동기 획득 알고리즘 (The Signal Acquisition Algorithm for Ultra Wide-band Communication Systems)

  • UWB(Ultra Wide-Band)통신 기술은 매우 짧은 펄스를 사용하기에 정밀한 동기 획득 제어가 필요하다. 고속 W-PAN 응용이나 저속 무선측위 응용 모두를 위해 정확한 UWB 신호의 동기 획득(Signal Acquisition)은 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 UWB 다중경로 채널 환경에서 동기 획득을 위해 두 단계 신호 탐색기법을 이용하여 동기 획득 알고리즘을 제안한다. 첫 번째 단계는 수신된 신호전체 시간을 두고 탐색 구간을 절반으로 나눠 각각 나눠진 창의 전력 값의 합을 비교하여 더 큰 전력 값을 가지는 구간을 다음 탐색 창으로 잡는다. 이러한 과정을 반복하여 다음 탐색 창을 구한다. 비교된 값이 임계값을 넘을 때까지 탐색을 반복한다. 두 번째 단계에서는 첫 번째 단계에서의 구해진 탐색 창을 Fine Search 하기 위하여 Linear 탐색 알고리즘을 적용하여 검색한다. 이 제안 알고리즘을 UWB 다중경로 채널 환경에서 모의실험 결과 병렬 탐색 알고리즘에 비해 고속 동기 획득이 가능하고 SNR의 변화가 심한 환경에 적합한 특성을 확인하였다.

  • Industrial robots are powerful, extremely accurate multi-jointed systems, but they are heavy and highly rigid because of their mechanical structure and motorization. Therefore, sharing the robot working space with its environment is problematic. A novel pneumatic artificial muscle actuator (PAM actuator) has been regarded during the recent decades as an interesting alternative to hydraulic and electric actuators. Its main advantages are high strength and high power/weight ratio, low cost, compactness, ease of maintenance, cleanliness, readily available and cheap power source, inherent safety and mobility assistance to humans performing tasks. The PAM is undoubtedly the most promising artificial muscle for the actuation of new types of industrial robots such as Rubber Actuator and PAM manipulators. However, some limitations still exist, such as the air compressibility and the lack of damping ability of the actuator bring the dynamic delay of the pressure response and cause the oscillatory motion. In addition, the nonlinearities in the PAM manipulator still limit the controllability. Therefore, it is not easy to realize motion with high accuracy and high speed and with respect to various external inertia loads in order to realize a human-friendly therapy robot To overcome these problems a novel controller, which harmonizes a phase plane switching control method with conventional PID controller and the adaptabilities of neural network, is newly proposed. In order to realize satisfactory control performance a variable damper - Magneto-Rheological Brake (MRB) is equipped to the joint of the manipulator. Superb mixture of conventional PID controller and a phase plane switching control using neural network brings us a novel controller. This proposed controller is appropriate for a kind of plants with nonlinearity uncertainties and disturbances. The experiments were carried out in practical PAM manipulator and the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm was demonstrated through experiments, which had proved that the stability of the manipulator can be improved greatly in a high gain control by using MRB with phase plane switching control using neural network and without regard for the changes of external inertia loads.

압전 캔틸레버 스프링 구조물(SPCS)의 에너지 하베스팅 특성 (Energy Harvesting Characteristics of Spring Supported Piezoelectric Cantilever Structure (SPCS))

  • Spring supported piezoelectric cantilever structures (SPCS) were fabricated for vibration-based energy harvester application. We selected four elastic springs (A, B, C, and D type) as cantilever's supporter, each elastic spring has a different spring constant (S). The C type of SPCS ($S_C$: 4,649 N/m) showed a extremely low resonance frequency of 81 Hz along with the highest power output of 38.5 mW while the A type of SPCS ($S_A$: 40,629 N/m) didn't show a resonance frequency while. Therefore, it is considered that the lower spring constant lead to a lower resonance frequency of the SPCS. In addition, a tip mass (18 g) at one end of the SPCS could further reduce the resonance frequency without heavy degradation of power output.

Terra-Scope - a MEMS-based vertical seismic array

  • The Terra-Scope system is an affordable 4-D down-hole seismic monitoring system based on independent, microprocessor-controlled sensor Pods. The Pods are nominally 50 mm in diameter, and about 120 mm long. They are expected to cost approximately $6000 each. An internal 16-bit, extremely low power MCU controls all aspects of instrumentation, eight programmable gain amplifiers, and local signal storage. Each Pod measures 3-D acceleration, tilt, azimuth, temperature, and other parametric variables such as pore water pressure and pH. Each Pod communicates over a standard digital bus (RS-485) through a completely web-based GUI interface, and has a power consumption of less than 400 mW. Three-dimensional acceleration is measured by pure digital force-balance MEMS-based accelerometers. These accelerometers have a dynamic range of more than 115 dB and a frequency response from DC to 1000 Hz with a noise floor of less than $30ng_{rms}/{\surd}Hz$. Accelerations above 0.2 g are measured by a second set of MEMS-based accelerometers, giving a full 160 dB dynamic range. This paper describes the system design and the cooperative shared-time scheduler implemented for this project. Restraints accounted for include multiple data streams, integration of multiple free agents, interaction with the asynchronous world, and hardened time stamping of accelerometer data. The prototype of the device is currently undergoing evaluation. The first array will be installed in the spring of 2006.

인지된 유용성과 주관적 규범이 모바일인터넷 사용 의도에 미치는 영향에 있어 개인 혁신성향의 조절효과에 대한 연구 (Moderating Effects of Personal Innovativeness on the Relationship between Perceived Usefulness, Subjective Norm and Intention to Use Mobile Internet)

  • Recently, utilization of mobile Internet services is rapidly increasing. To properly accelerate the vitalization of mobile Internet usage, we have to know exactly about the factors affecting potential users' value recognition and intention to use. Technology acceptance model (TAM) is one of the most powerful reference framework for the individual user's adoption of IT innovations. This research borrowed core concept of TAM, and tried to explain users' intention to use mobile Internet by understanding the direct and indirect effects of subjective norm and perceived usefulness. To increase the explanatory power of the model, this paper introduced personal innovativeness as a key moderator variable. The research findings include; i) subjective norm has strong positive influence on perceived usefulness and intention to use, ii) perceived usefulness has positive influence on intention to use, iii) the influence of subject norm is greater than that of perceived usefulness, iv) positive influence of subjective norm on the perceived usefulness and intention to use are significantly stronger in the case of low personal innovativeness sub-group than the case of high personal innovativeness sub-group, and v) high personal innovativeness sub-group have shown strongly positive influence of perceived usefulness on the intention to use while there is no such significant relationship in the case of low personal innovativeness sub-group. Based on these findings, this paper proposed several guidelines to increase the adoption and the usage of mobile Internet; i) word-of-mouth is extremely important, ii) to form a good word-of-mouth, it will be very important to make early adopters and heavy users have positive direct experiences of using mobile Internet.

전기장 왜란을 이용한 비접촉 스마트 TV 제스처 인식 알고리즘 (Non-Contact Gesture Recognition Algorithm for Smart TV Using Electric Field Disturbance)

  • 본 논문에서는 4-채널 전위계 센서의 배열을 이용한 비접촉 제스처 인식 알고리즘을 제안한다. 주변의 전기장 변화에 민감한 전위계 센서를 스마트기기의 제스처인식에 활용하기 위해서 실내 환경에서 극저주파 대역 EMI(Electro Magnetic Interference) 및 PLN(Power Line Noise) 영향을 최소화하였다. AC 형태의 입력 데이터 값에 10Hz LPF(Low Pass Filter) 및 H/W 샘플링 속도를 고려한 최대 버퍼 값 추출 알고리즘을 적용하여 선형적인 DC 형태의 데이터로 변형한다. 추가적으로 칼만 필터를 적용함으로써 노이즈를 최소화하며, 센서간의 배열을 고려한 데이터 차분 과정을 통해 목표물의 2차원적 움직임 정보를 추출한다. 추출된 데이터 값과 peak 값의 시차정보를 이용하여 DTW(Dynamic Time Warping) 제스처 인식 및 보정 알고리즘을 구현하였으며, 다섯가지 동작 시나리오 테스트 결과 95% 이상의 높은 인식률을 보였다.

TWB용 고강도 박판 강재의 $CO_2$ 레이저 용접성 및 성형성 ([ $CO_2$ ] Laser Weldability and Formability of High Strength Steels for Tailored Blanks Applications)

  • 1)고강도강 BOP 시험 결과 강종에 차이 없이 용접속도에 따라 유사한 비드 형상을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 1.2t 시험편의 적정 용접속도는 $4\~8m/min$으로 나타났다. 2) 용접속도가 빠를수록 비드폭은 작아지며, 경도값은 높게 나타났다. 그리고, 최고 경도값은 강의 성분(Ceq)에 비례하는 것으로 나타났음, 그 결과 TRIP80(Ceq=0.53)의 경우 최고 520Hv이상의 경도값을 가지고 있었다. 3) LDH test 결과 DP강의 모재대비 용접부의 성형성이 약 $90\%$ 정도로 나타났으며, TRIP 및 일반 고강도강은 약 $80\%$의 성형성을 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 4) He을 보호가스로 사용시 기공의 형성은 크게 억제되었다. 그리고 Ar 사용시에는 기공 형성이 He에 비해 많이 형성되는 것으로 나타나 사용시 주의가 필요한 것으로 보인다. 기공 형성은 TRIP > 60C/45R > DP 순서로 나타나 DP강이 가장 좋은 레이저 용접성을 가지고 있었다.

판형 열교환기의 열전달과 유동특성에 대한 연구 (Study on Characteristics of Heat Transfer and Flow in Plate Heat Exchanger)

  • In present work, experiments conducted to investigate the heat transfer characteristics and relationship between operating parameters and production of fresh water as output of the system. Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE) applied in vacuum evaporator for product fresh water that system intended to efficiently use low grade heat. PHE have become popular in chemical, power, food and refrigeration industries due to the efficient heat transfer performance, extremely compact design and flexibility of extend or modify to suit changed duty. The heat transfer part contains corrugated plates with 60 degree of chevron angle which verified by many researchers and commonly apply. Fresh water can be produced from saline water under near vacuum pressure by operating ejector. Consequently, evaporating temperature stay around $51-57^{\circ}C$ so it is possible to use any low grade heat source or renewable source. The maximum fresh water produced by freshwater generator with plat heat exchanger applied in the study was designed as 1.0 Ton/day.

전위계차 센서를 이용한 원격센싱을 위한 ELF 대역 EMI 제거 및 PLN 응용 연구 (Study on EMI Elimination and PLN Application in ELF Band for Romote Sensing with Electric Potentiometer)

  • 분 논문에서는 전위계 센서를 이용한 비접촉식 동작인식거리를 확장하기 위해 1K Hz 이하의 극저주파 EMI를 제거하는 기법과 제스처 동작 시작점 추출을 위한 PLN(Power Line Noice)을 이용하는 기법을 제시한다. 스마트기기 상에 장착된 전위계차 센서 주변에서 발생하는 극저주파대역의 전기장의 세기를 측정하여 효율적인 센서의 배치를 통해 EMI를 제거하는 동시에 60Hz 대역의 PLN 잡음은 오히려 동작 시작점 검출을 위하여 이용하는 기법을 제안한다. 이 후, 접지를 통해 스마트 기기 및 센서의 회로에서 발생하는 전원선 잡음을 제거하고, 스마트 TV와 센서의 사이를 차폐시킴으로써 스마트 기기에서 발생하는 전기적 잡음을 제거한다. 마지막으로 필터기법을 이용하여 남아있는 미세 잡음을 제거한다. 전위계차 센서를 스마트기기의 비접촉식 원격제어에 활용하기 위한 극저주파대역 EMI의 효과적인 제거 기법 및 성능을 분석하였으며, 또한 전위계차 센서의 비접촉식 응용에 난제중 하나인 동작시작점 검출을 위한 효과적인 방법을 제시하여 제스처 인식거리를 실제 응용가능한 3m 이상으로 확장할 수 있음을 보였다.

전기영동형 전자종이를 위한 $TiO_2$ 나노분말의 분산 제어 (A control dispersion of $TiO_2$ nano powder for electronic paper of electrophoresis)

  • An electrophoretic display using $TiO_2$ particles is the most promising candidate because it offers various advantages such as ink-on-paper appearance, good contrast ratio, wide viewing angle, image stability in the off-state and extremely low power consumption. The core technology of electrophoretic display is the dispersion controlling of $TiO_2$ nano particles in nonaqueous solution. To prepare an ink for electronic paper using electrophoretic properties of $TiO_2$ nano particles, cyclohexane with low dielectric constant and transparency, polyethylene for producing polymer coating layer which reduces apparent gravity of $TiO_2$, and $TiO_2$ powders were mixed together by planetary-mill. The zeta-potential value of $TiO_2$ particles in cyclohexane was measured about -40mV, but was measured over -110mV by dispersant attached to polyethylene-coated $TiO_2$ surface. Prepared electronic ink was filled in cross patterned micro-wall with $200{\mu}m$ in width and $40{\mu}m$ in height on ITO glass designed by photolithography. The response time of electronic paper evaluated by mobility of $TiO_2$ particle between micro-walls was measured 0.067sec, but the drift velocity from reflectance wave form during reverse from of electronic ink was measured 0.07cm/sec.
