A Four-Node Assumed Strain Plate Element for Explicit Dynamic Transient Analysis (명시적인 동적 시간이력해석을 한 사절점 가변형도 평판요소)

  • An enhanced four-node plate element, which has been developed for explicit dynamic analysis of plate, is described in this paper. Reissner-Mind1in(RM) assumptions are adopted to consider transverse shear deformation effects in the present plate element. RM plate element produces a shear locking phenomena in thin plate so that the substitute natural strains based on assumed strain method are explicitly derived. The present plate element is applied into the explicit transient algorithm and the mass matrix of plate is formulated by using special lumping method proposed by Hinton et al. The performance of the element is verified with numerical examples.

  • In this paper, the advanced explicit algorithm is proposed to simulate the stress-erection process analysis of Strarch system. The Strarch(Stressed-Arch) system is a unique and innovative structural system and member prestress comprising prefabricated plane truss frames which are erected by a post-tensioning stress-erection procedure. The flexible bottom chord which have sleeve and gap detail are closed by the reaction force of prestressing tendon. The prestress imposing to the tendon will make the Strarch system to be erected. This post tensioning process is called as "stress-erection process". During the stress-erection process, the plastic rigid body rotation is occurred to the flexible top chord by the excessive amount of plastic strain, and the structural characteristic becomes to be unstable. In this study, the large deformational beam-column element with plastic hinge is used to model the flexible top chord, and the advanced Dynamic Relaxation method(DRM) are applied to the unstable problem of stress-erection process of Strarch system. Finally, the verification of proposed explicit algorithm is evaluated by analysing the stress-erection of real project of Strarch system.

An Enhanced Wireless TCP protocol based on Explicit Error Notification (에러 보고를 통한 무선 TCP의 성능 향상)

  • When a packet loss occurs in a communication network operating a TCP protocol, the TCP protocol regards it that the loss has resulted from network congestion. Then the TCP protocol performs congestion control. When it is applied to the wireless network having quite a high BER characteristics, the performance of TCP protocol is degraded very much. In this paper, we propose an Explicit Error Notification(EEN) algorithm to improve the performance of the wireless TCP When a packet loss occurs in the wireless network, the TCP receiver decodes the TCP segment sequence number and the address of the TCP sender and receiver, and then informs the TCP sender of the error in wireless network by sending a NACK. It is to distinguish packets in error from losses of network congestion. In this paper, the performance of the proposed EEN algorithm is analyzed and simulated. In fact, as more errors are corrected, the proposed algorithm shows a larger improvements in performance.

  • Numerical simulation of fluid flow with moving free surface has been carried out. For the free surface flow, a VOF(Volume of Fluid)-based algorithm utilizing a fixed grid system has been investigated. In order to reduce numerical smearing at the free surface represented on a fixed grid system, a new free surface tracking algorithm based on the donor-acceptor scheme has been presented. Novel features of the proposed algorithm are characterized as two numerical tools; the orientation vector to represent the free surface orientation in each cell and the baby-cell to determine the fluid volume flux at each cell boundary. The proposed algorithm can be easily implemented in any irregular non-uniform grid systems that are usual in finite element method (FEM). Moreover, the proposed algorithm can be extended and applied to the 3-D free surface flow problem without additional efforts. For computation of unsteady incompressible flow, a finite element approximation based on the explicit fractional step method has been adopted. In addition, the SUPG(streamline upwind/Petrov-Galerkin) method has been implemented to deal with convection dominated flows. Combination of the proposed free surface tracking scheme and explicit fractional step formulation resulted in an efficient solution algorithm. Validity of the present solution algorithm was demonstrated from its application to the broken dam and the solitary wave propagation problems.

Implicit self tuning controller with pole restriction

  • In this paper, a design method of controller which incorporates pole restriction into implicit self tuning algorithm is proposed. The idea behind pole restriction is that the closed loop poles of the system are restricted to a user-chosen circle in the region to meet maximum percentage overshoot and settling time specification. Most algorithm based on pole restriction are explicit schemes involving a parameter estimation and synthesis stage to obtain controller parameters. The object of this paper is to have an algorithm that has the idea of pole restriction and the simplicity of the implicit approach.

  • In this paper and recursive version of orthogonal ARMA identification algorithm is proposed. The basic algorithm is based on Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization of automatically selected basis functions from specified function space, but does not require explicit creation of orthogonal functions. By using two dimensional autocorrelations and crosscorrelations of input and output with constant data length, identification algorithm is extended to cope slowly time-varying or order-varying delayed system.

  • The maximum likelihood estimation is discussed for the NLAR model with Laplacian marginals. Since the explicit form of the estimates cannot be obtained due to the complicated nature of the likelihood function we utilize the automatic computer optimization subroutine using a direct search complex algorithm. The conditional least square estimates are used as initial estimates in maximum likelihood procedures. The results of a simulation study for the maximum likelihood estimates of the NLAR(1) and the NLAR(2) models are presented.

A Route Selection Algorithm using a Statistical Approach (통계적 기법을 이용한 경로 선택 알고리즘)

  • Since most of the current route selection algorithms use the shortest path algorithm, network resources can not be efficiently used also traffics be concentrated on specific paths resulting in congestgion. In this paper we propose the statistical route selections(SRS) algorithm which adopts a statistical mechanism to utilize the network resource efficiently and to avoid congestion. The SRS algorithm handles requests on demand and chooses a path that meets the requested bandwidth. With the advent of the MPLS it becomes possible to establish an explicit LSP which can be used for traffic load balancing. The SRS algorithm finds a set of link utilizations for route selection, computes link weights using statistical mechanism and finds the shortest path from the weights. Our statistical mechanism computes the mean and the variance of link utilizations and selects a route such that it can reduce the variance and the number of congested links and increase the utilization of network resources. Throughout the simulation, we show that the SRS algorithm performs better than other route selection algorithms on several metrics like the number of connection setup failures and the number of congested links.

Semi-rigid Elasto-Plastic Post Buckling Analysis of Space Frame by Using the Explicit Arc-Length Method (명시적 호장법을 이용한 공간프레임의 반강접 탄소성 후좌굴 해석)

  • In this paper, semi-rigid elasto-plastic post-buckling analysis of a space frame was performed using various explicit arc-length methods. Various explicit arc-length methodsand a large-deformation and small-strain elasto-plastic 3D space frame element with semi-rigid connections and plastic hinges were developed. This element can be appliedto both explicit and implicit numerical algorithms. In this study, the Dynamic Relaxation method was adopted in the predictor and corrector processesto formulate an explicit arc-length algorithm. The developed "explicit-predictor" or "explicit-corrector" were used in the elasto-plastic post-buckling analysis. The Eulerian equations for a beam-column with finite rotation, which considers the bowing effects, were adopted for the elastic system and extended to theinelastic system with a plastic hinge concept. The derived tangent stiffness matrix was asymmetrical due to the finite rotation. The joint connection elements were introduced for semi-rigidity using a static condensation technique. Semi-rigid elasto-plastic post-buckling analyses were carried out to demonstrate the potential of the developed explicit arc-length method and advanced space frame element in terms of accuracy and efficiency.

  • One of the most important matters in designing network and realizing service, is to grip on the traffic characteristics. Conventional traffic prediction and analysis used the models which based on the Poisson or Markovian. Recently, experimental research on the LAN, WAN and VBR traffic properties have been pointed rut that they weren't able to display actual real traffic specificities because the models based on the Poisson assumption had been underestimated the long range dependency of network traffic and self-similar peculiarities, it has been lately presented that the new approach method using self-similarity characteristics as similar as the real traffic models. Therefore, in this paper, we generated self-similar data traffic like real traffic as background load. On the existing ABR congestion control algorithm, we analyzed by classify into ACR, buffer utilization. cell drop rate, transmission throughput with the representative EFCI, ERICA, EPRCA and NIST twitch algorithm to show the efficient reaction about the burst traffic.
