  • In this paper, we present a reconfigurable mobile platform (RMP) for user-specific applications. The RMP consists of a basic module and more than one extended module that offers specified functions to a portable platform based on the circumstances and purposes of the users. The extend module for specified purposes is connected to the basic module using a common interface that offers interoperability to the traditional interfaces. This paper gives the results of a survey to determine specifications of a reconfigurable mobile platform. Utilizing the results of the survey, we propose a prototype of the reconfigurable mobile platform to enable specialized functions. The design objective is to provide specialized functions required for user specific needs related to their age and physical condition. In addition, it can be used for mobile healthcare applications that are efficient in improving the user's health conditions by executing medical analysis and prescriptions.

  • This paper proposes robust state feedback control of asynchronous sequential machines with model uncertainty. The considered asynchronous machine is deterministic, but its state transition function is partially known before executing a control process. The main objective is to derive the existence condition for a corrective controller for which the behavior of the closed-loop system can match a prescribed model in spite of uncertain transitions. The proposed control scheme also has learning ability. The controller perceives true state transitions as it undergoes corrective actions and reflects the learned knowledge in the next step. An adaptation is made such that the controller can have the minimum number of state transitions to realize a model matching procedure. To demonstrate control construction and execution, a VHDL and FPGA implementation of the proposed control scheme is presented.

  • Learning control refers to controllers that learn to improve their performance at executing a given task, based on experience performing this specific task. In a previous work, the authors presented a theory of indirect decentralized learning control based on use of indirect adaptive control concepts employing simultaneous identification and control. This paper extends these results to apply to the indirect repetitive control problem in which a periodic (i.e., repetitive) command is given to a control system. Decentralized indirect repetitive control algorithms are presented that have guaranteed convergence to zero tracking error under very general conditions. The original motivation of the repetitive control and learning control fields was learning in robots doing repetitive tasks such as on an assembly line. This paper starts with decentralized discrete time systems, and progresses to the robot application, modeling the robot as a time varying linear system in the neighborhood of the desired trajectory. Decentralized repetitive control is natural for this application because the feedback control for link rotations is normally implemented in a decentralized manner, treating each link as if it is independent of the other links.

  • An increasing attention is paid to STEP-NC, the next generation CNC controller interfacing STEP-compatible data. In this paper, we first propose an Architecture for the STEP-NC (called FBCC: Feature Baled CNC Controller) accepting feature code compatible with STEP-data, and executing NC motion feature by feature while monitoring the execution status. The main thrust of the paper has been to develop an automatic on-line tool path generation and modification scheme for milling operation. The tool path it generated iota each feature by decomposing into a finite number of primitive features. The key function in the new scheme is haw to accommodate unexpected execution results. In our scheme, the too1 path plinker is designed to have a tracing capability iota the tool path execution so that a new path can be generated from the point where the operation is stopped. An illustrative example is included to show the capability of the developed algorithm.

  • Zinc-air batteries which has various merits in the aspect of energy density, power density and price relative to lithium based second batteries were extensively investigated recently. To develope and optimize these zinc-air batteries, the method of M&S is so efficient solution to reduce price and time. Therefore, in this paper, after executing mathematical modeling, I optimized the zinc-air battery through the simulation and make bolt-cell and discharge it to compare with simulation result. As a result, predictions are well agreed with experimental results.

  • EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) is often used as an authentication framework for two-party protocol which supports multiple authentication algorithms known as "EAP method". And PKMv2 in 802.16e networks use EAP as an authentication protocol. However, this framework is not efficient when the EAP peer executing handover. The reason is that the EAP peer and EAP server should re-run EAP method each time so that they authenticate each other for secure handover. This makes some delays, so faster re-authentication method is needed. In this paper, we propose a new design of the PKMv2 framework which provides fast re-authentication. This new framework and usage of the keys which used as a short-term credential bring better performance during handover process.

  • This paper proposes a hardware allocation and binding algorithm for ASIC Design. The proposed algorithm works on schedules input graph and simultaneously allocates and binds functional units, interconnections and registers by considering interdependency between operations and storage elements in each control step, in order to share registers and interconnections connected to functional units, as much as possible. Especially, he register allocation is executes the allocation optimal using graph coloring. This paper shows the effectiveness of the algorithm by comparing experiments to determine number of functional unit and register in advance or to separate executing allocation and binding of existing system.

  • We propose the ARIES/RL which extends the with 're-logging' technique to manage the limited online 1og space efficiently even though 1ong-duration transactions exist. Re-logging isa technique that log records used in transaction rollback and restart recovery are copied forward in the log whenever the online log is not sufficient for keeping logs of on-going transactions It does not hurt the advantages of ARIES. Moreover, it handles log space efficiently in executing long-duration transactions. We also present the evaluation result of ARIES/RL and show that ARIES/RL handles online log efficiently.

  • The script of multimedia authoring tool must be able to define the basic events, represent the special function of an object and change the entire system dynamically. In this paper, we design and implement a script interpreter that defines the properties and events of various multimedia objects and executes them, and describe the analysis of script source, the management of execution table, and the method for storing the script information to the objects and executing it according to the user's events.

  • In this study, a peripheral auditory model is used as a frequency feature extractor and a recurrent network which has recurrent links on input nodes is constructed in order to show the reliability of the recurrent network as a recognizer by executing recognition tests for 4 Korean place names and syllables. In the case of using the general learning rule, it is found that the weights are diverged for a long sequence because of the characteristics of the node function in the hidden and output layers. So, a refined weight compensation method is proposed and, using this method, it is possible to improve the system operation and to use long data. The recognition results are considerably good, even if time worping and endpoint detection are omitted and learning patterns and test patterns are made of average length of data. The recurrent network used in this study reflects well time information of temporal speech signal.
