Vibration Analysis of the Helical Gear System by Spectral Transfer Matrix (스펙트럴 전달행렬에 의한 헬리컬 기어계의 진동해석)

  • This paper presents a study on the analytical prediction of vibration transmission from helical gears to the bearing. The proposed method is based on the application of the three dimensional helical gear behaviors and complete description of shaft by the spectral method. Helical gear system used in this paper consists of the driving element, helical gears, shafts, bearings, couplings and load element. In order to describe all translation and rotation motion of helical gears twelve degree of freedom equations of motion by the transmission error excitation are derived. Using these equations, transfer matrix for the helical gear is derived. For the detail behavior of shaft motion, the $12{\times}12$ transfer matrix for the shaft is derived. Transfer matrix for the bearing, coupling, driving element, and load is also derived. Application of the boundary conditions in the assembled transfer matrix produces the forces and displacements in each element of the helical gear system. The effect of the proposed method is shown by numerical example.

  • Dynamic stability of an oscillating cantilever plate is investigated in this paper. The equations of motion include harmonically oscillating parameters which originate from the motion-induced stiffness variation. Using the multiple scale perturbation method is employed to obtain a stability diagram. The tability diagram shows that relatively large unstable regions exist when the frequency of oscillation is near twice the frequencies of the 1st torsion natural mode and the 1st chordwide bending mode.

  • In this paper, the vibrational motion of a flexible beam clamped on a translating base and carrying a moving mass is investigated. The equations of motion which describe the total dynamics of the beam-mass-cart system are derived and the coupled dynamic equations are solved by unconstrained modal analysis. In modal analysis, the exact normal mode solutions corresponding to the eigenfrequencies for the position of the moving mass and the ratios of the mass of the flexible beam, the moving mass and the base cart are used. Proper transformations of the time solutions between the normal modes for a position and those for the next position of the moving mass are also adopted. Numerical simulations are carried out to obtain the open-loop responses of the system in tracking the pre-designed path of the moving mass.

Motion and Total Force Distribution for a Floating Marine Structure in Finite-Depth Water

  • A potential flow approach is used to develop a method and an associated computer program for floating marine structures of general configuration in wave of all water depths with arbitrary heading. It computes the total force distributions and six degrees-of-freedom motion. The hydrodynamic-force equations and derived become identical under certain assumptions to the equations commonly used by the offshore industry, and the two methods are compared in detail. The computed motions of all six degree agree quite well with model-scale and full-scale experimental data for two typical semisubmersible drilling rigs in finite-depth water. Also the presented motion computations are more accurate than a previous work by the second approach. The present computations use experimentally validated or determined values of frequency-dependent hydrodynamic coefficients with the effects of the free surface and both finite and infinite water depths. The present method generates sufficient computation accuracy to use for practical design applications.

  • The purpose of this work is to study the existence and continuous dependence on neutral stochastic partial integrodifferential equations with impulsive effects, perturbed by a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H{\in}({\frac{1}{2}},\;1)$. We use the theory of resolvent operators developed in Grimmer [19] to show the existence of mild solutions. Further, we establish a new impulsive-integral inequality to prove the exponential stability of mild solutions in the mean square moment. Finally, an example is presented to illustrate our obtained results.

  • A modeling method for the modal analysis of a multi-packet blade system having tapered cross section undergoing rotational motion is presented in this paper. Blades are idealized as tapered cantilever beams that are fixed to a rotating disc. The stiffness coupling effects between blades due to the flexibilities of the disc and the shroud are modeled with discrete springs. Hybrid deformation variables are employed to derive the equations of motion. To obtain more general information, the equations of motion are transformed into dimensionless forms in which dimensionless parameters are identified. The effects of the dimensionless parameters including tapered ratio and the number of packets as well as blades on the modal characteristics of the system are investigated with some numerical examples.

  • In the precision point synthesis of mechanisms, it is usually required to solve a system of polynomial equations. With the aid of efficient algorithms such as elimination, it is possible to obtain all the solutions of the equations in the complex domain. But among these solutions only real values can be used fur real mechanisms, while imaginary ones are liable to be discarded. In this article, a method is presented, which leads the imaginary solutions to real domain permitting slight alteration of prescribed positions and eventually increases the number of feasible mechanisms satisfying the desired motion approximately. Two synthesis problems of planar 4-bar path generation and spatial 7-bar motion generation are given to verify the proposed method.

  • A method for the dynamic analysis of curved beam conveying fluid presents. The dynamics of curved beam is based on inextensible theory and the fluid in curved beam has uniform velocity. The equations of motion of curved beam are decoupled by in-plane motion and out-of$.$Plane motion. The solutions of equations are presented by a finite element method and validate by comparing the natural frequency with analytical solution, straight beam theories and Nastran. The influence of fluid velocity on the frequency response function is illustrated and discussed.

  • Equations of motion for a 7 DOF full car model is developed in detail and used for the design of LQR based active suspension system. The frequency response to road disturbance input and the motion of a car passing unequal bumps were used to analyzed the dynamic characteristics of the 7 DOF full car with passive or active suspensions. The resulting linear equations of motion may be usefull in designing other types of active suspension.

To obtain more general information, the equations of motion are transformed into dimensionless forms in which dimensionless parameters are identified. The effects of the dimensionless parameters and the number of packets as well as blades on the modal characteristics of the rotating multi-packet pre-twisted blade system are investigated with some numerical examples.
