  • Recent advancement in wireless communications and electronics has enabled the development of low power sensor network. Wireless sensor network are often used in remote monitoring control applications, health care, security and environmental monitoring. Wireless sensor networks are an emerging technology consisting of small, low-power, and low-cost devices that integrate limited computation, sensing, and radio communication capabilities. Sensor network platform for health care has been designed, fabricated and tested. This system consists of an embedded micro-controller, Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver, power management, I/O expansion, and serial communication (RS-232). The hardware platform uses Atmel ATmega128L 8-bit ultra low power RISC processor with 128KB flash memory as the program memory and 4KB SRAM as the data memory. The radio transceiver (Chipcon CC1000) operates in the ISM band at 433MHz or 916MHz with a maximum data rate of 76.8kbps. Also, the indoor radio range is approximately 20-30m. When many sensors have to communicate with the controller, standard communication interfaces such as Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) or Integrated Circuit ($I^{2}C$) allow sharing a single communication bus. With its low power, the smallest and low cost design, the wireless sensor network system and wireless sensing electronics to collect health-related information of human vitality and main physiological parameters (ECG, Temperature, Perspiration, Blood Pressure and some more vitality parameters, etc.)

  • Hybrid acceleration-impedance sensor nodes on Imote2-platform are designed for damage monitoring in steel girder connections. Thus, the feasibility of the sensor nodes is examined about its performance for vibration-based global monitoring and impedance-based local monitoring in the structural systems. To achieve the objective, the following approaches are implemented. First, a damage monitoring scheme is described in parallel with global vibration-based methods and local impedance-based methods. Second, multi-scale sensor nodes that enable combined acceleration-impedance monitoring are described on the design of hardware components and embedded software to operate. Third, the performances of the multi-scale sensor nodes are experimentally evaluated from damage monitoring in a lab-scaled steel girder with bolted connection joints.

  • Recently, the requirements of the embedded software are getting diverse as the diversity of embedded software application fields increases. The systematic development methods are issued to deal with the dependency between hardware and software. However, the existing development methods have not considered the software's close connection to hardware and the high-level reusability for common requirements of several similar domains. In this paper, we propose a design method of development process model of product lines to support an efficient development method for embedded software. For this, we firstly suggest a domain scoping method and an IDEF0(Integration DEFinition)-based business model for extracting the efficient requirements. Next, we present a component deriving method based on the service architecture and an architecture design method after considering the hardware dependency. And we explain the artifacts of MSDFS(Multi Sensor Data Fusion System) at each design step in order to show how the proposed model can be applied to the embedded software development.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) and also estimates how well autonomous navigation and remote control of UGV can be performed through the optimized arbitration of several sensor data, which are acquired from vision, obstacle detection, positioning system, etc. For the autonomous navigation, lane detection and tracing, global positioning, and obstacle avoidance are necessarily required. In addition, for the remote control, two types of experimental environments are established. One is to use a commercial racing wheel module, and the other is to use a haptic device that is useful for a user application based on virtual reality. Experimental results show that autonomous navigation and remote control of the designed UGV can be achieved with more effectiveness and accuracy using the proper arbitration of sensor data and navigation plan.

  • In this paper, we propose an IoT-based remote monitoring system designed for real-time tracking of fluid and urine output, with integrated hematuria detection. The system utilizes a load cell sensor to measure weight fluctuations in the bag and an RGB color sensor to monitor urine color, enabling immediate detection and alerts for hematuria. Additionally, the backend system compares the weights of the infusion and urine bags to assess fluid balance, using fuzzy logic to provide status updates. The compact, lightweight device design facilitates real-time data transmission and visualization via wireless protocols, supporting remote monitoring. Experimental results confirm the system's capability to detect weight changes as small as 5 ml and identify hematuria with 100% accuracy. Above all, it is expected to reduce the workload of medical staff for continuous monitoring and contribute to the rapid detection of abnormal fluid imbalances and hematuria.

  • Recently, 3D printing technology has gained increased attention in the manufacturing industry because it allows the manufacturing of complex but sophisticated structures as well as moderate production speed. Owing to advantages of 3D printers, such as flexible design, customization, rapid prototyping, and ease of access, can also be advantageous to sensor developments, 3D printing demands have increased in various active device fields, including sensor manufacturing. In particular, 3D printing technology is of significant interest in tactile sensor development where piezoelectric materials are typically embedded to acquire voltage signals from external stimuli. In regard with piezoelectricity, researchers have worked with various piezoelectric materials to achieve high piezoelectric response, but the structural approach is limited because ceramics have been regarded as challenging materials for complex design owing to their limited manufacturing methods. If appropriate piezoelectric materials and approaches to design are used, sensors can be fabricated with the improved piezoelectric response and high sensitivity that cannot be found in common bulk materials. In this study, various 3D printing technologies, material combinations, and applications of various piezoelectric sensors using the 3D printing method are reviewed.

  • Architecture generation is the first step in the design of software systems. Most of the qualities that the final software system possesses are usually decided at the architecture development stage itself. Thus, if the final system should be usable, testable, secure, high performance, mobile and adaptable, then these qualities or non-functional requirements should be engineered into the architecture itself. In particular, adaptability is emerging as an important attribute required by almost all software systems. The machinery and tools in the remote site surveillance and connects intelligence information machinery and tools at Internet. We need the server which uses different embedded operating system to become private use. With the progress of information-oriented society, many device with advanced technologies invented by many companies. However, the current firmware technologies have many problems to meet such high level of new technologies. In this paper, we have successfully ported linux on an embedded system, which is based on intel Strong ARM SA-1110 processor, then written several network modules for internet-based network devices.

These drones are used in flight exercises, aerial photography, and coding education. In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, such as the development of sensor technology, expansion of open source sharing, and application of artificial intelligence, Is expected to be able to demonstrate convergence. In this paper, we have studied the design and fabrication of small drones using open source. In the case of drones, various functions and differentiated materials are required depending on the application, and the future development of the unmanned mobile object, namely the drone, in which the creativity and the technology are combined with each other continues to be enhanced by the improvement of autonomy and artificial intelligence. Software-based architecture-based technologies have been developed in collaboration with embedded SWs that combine sensors, motors, and control systems.
