The comprehensive countermeasures against school violence recently announced by the government include some content on physical education classes. Physical education has long been ignored in school paradoxically in spite of the deteriorating physical strength and health of adolescents. The physical education subject undervalued in the middle of overly excessive competitions for college entrance exams finds its core goal in whole person education and officially emphasizes the development of personality aspects, which means that physical education claims important significance by providing diverse approaches to school violence prevention. This study thus set out to enhance the roles of physical education for school violence prevention. In Korean society, school violence has taken deep root due to the combined results of individual, family, school and community factors, the growth-first policy driven by compressed modern growth, and neoliberalism based on economic efficiency. School violence possesses such fixed value systems and convictions in Korean society. Education has failed to achieve some effectiveness because of the serious level of school violence, which calls for assessment of ideology having big impacts on educational environments. Given that it has been rediscovered that physical education has legitimacy of alleviating or preventing school violence through its value, an alternative to eradicate school violence should start with physical education normalization in school. Specific alternatives including the activation of sports clubs in school will be established as more fundamental practical alternatives when accompanied by the development of school violence-related programs and the operation of in-service training programs for physical education teachers.

Understanding of how teachers change instruction can help predict what kind of educational materials is supportive or appropriate. On the basis of this idea, we explored elementary teachers' PCK progression on specific topics of astronomy: planet size and distance in solar system. To identify the development of PCK over time, we utilized learning progression (LP) as a conceptual framework. The progression of teacher PCK can also be illustrated as the hypothetical pathway from novice to expert like LP. Eight 5th grade elementary teachers participated in this study. We observed participating teachers' astronomy classes with the same topic. In order to document topic-specific PCK of participating teachers, we developed an analytic protocol consisting of four categories: knowledge of curriculum, knowledge of teaching strategies, knowledge of assessment, and astronomical thinking practice. In addition, we monitored the changes in the four participating teachers' PCK for two years in order to validate the evidences of the PCK progression. Participating teachers in this study took some intervention by attending a four-week pre-meeting with the researchers to profile an adaptive instruction. Through this research, we profiled four and five different levels of PCK progressions in three knowledge components (curriculum, teaching strategies, student assessment) and one astronomical thinking practice (systems thinking), respectively. Participating teachers demonstrated various levels and pathways in each component of PCK. This study released the empirical evidences in fostering instructional scaffolding, which is appropriate to the level of PCK of science teachers on specific topic.

The concept of Eco-welfare emerged in the process of discovering the relationship between a healthy ecosystem and human wellbeing. The objective of this study is to offer basic data for eco-welfare policy realization by conceptualizing the 'National Park Eco-welfare' since national parks are appropriate places for eco-welfare to be optimally implemented. A pre-workshop and two rounds of Delphi surveys were conducted to determine the concept of the 'National Park Eco-welfare ' and the main elements to be included in ecosystem service. Through this study, the concept of 'National Park Eco-welfare' was defined as efforts to conserve the biodiversity and sustainability of the ecosystem and create harmony between 'National Park Ecosystem Welfare' and 'National Park Human Welfare'. To establish the direction of the National Park Eco-welfare policy, we identified the main elements of ecosystem services which are appropriate for the National Park. These are comprised of 3 elements (food, fresh water and genetic resources) from supply service, all elements from regulating service and supporting/habitat service and 4 elements (aesthetic information, recreation-based ecotourism, healing, and knowledge systems with educational values) from culture service. In this study, the concept of National Park Eco-welfare was established, and its policy objectives and scope were suggested. However, further studies are necessary to develop action plans areand thereby realize the policy.

A national program for GIS Training had been established by a feasibility study which was performed during the period of from July, 1995 through April, 1996 initiated by Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). Systems Engineering Research Institute (SERI), one of government-supported institutes in the fields of software development, have taken in charge of Korean GIS training program with emphases on short courses since July, 1996. To distinguish these national programs from those of major commercial GIS software vendor, GIS training programs by executing staffs within SERE have been established with the basis of its own educational paradigm; therefore, they was composed of several specific training curricular developed by executing staffs. In this paper, the practical aspects during execution and progress of these programs are described, and all courses named after decision maker course, GIS manager course, and user course in the first year of GIS training program are evaluated with questionnaire result riven to the trainees. As results, the satisfaction-rate after the decision maker, the GIS manager, and the user course is 84.8%, 81.2%, and 66.7% respectively These whole results are shown as more affirmative ones than expected, and each result, as a kind of feedback of this executing program, plays an important role to flourish Korean GIS training project in future.

The research aimed to compare science curriculum between Korea and Israel and find out characteristics of science curriculum in Israel at middle school level. The middle school 'science' of the 7th revised national curriculum in Korea and middle school 'science and technology' in Israel were compared. Among characteristics of the Israel curriculum of 'science and technology,' distinct ones are as follows: First, 'science and technology' was most highly emphasized with the largest number of time allotment among all subjects at middle school level in Israel. Second, the contents of 'science and technology' were classified into seven areas of 'energy and interaction', 'materials', 'organism', 'earth and the universe', 'technological systems and products' . 'information and communication',and 'ecosystems' rather than four areas of energy, materials, life and earth in Korea. Third, 'organism' was allocated with the highest number of hours among seven areas. Fourth, objectives of each content of 'science and technology' were divided into three categories: scientific aspect, technological aspect, and social value and objectives of each category were related to one another. This characteristic seems to stress STS, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary approaches in 'science and technology' in Israel. Such characteristics of the 'science and technology' education in Israel are likely to make significant contributions to establish human resources of highly developing science and technology including IT, BT, NT, ST in the future society. Reflecting upon the characteristics of 'science and technology' education in Israel, Korea might seek for ways to improve its national power based on science and technology through strengthening science and emphasizing science and technology contents among school curriculum.

Recent years have seen an explosion of interest in interactive agents motivating human learners to engage in edutainment systems which are designed to be entertaining and educational at the same time. Especially, work on socio-emotional processes has focus on understanding of human's social behavior in training and entertainment a applications. In contrast with work on social emotion, where research groups have developed detailed models of emotional processes, models of personality have emphasized shallow surface behavior. Here, we build on computational appraisal models of emotion to better characterize dispositional differences in how people come to understand social situations. Known as explanatory style, this dispositional factor plays a key role in social interactions and certain socio-emotional disorders, such as depression. Building on appraisal and attribution theories, we model key conceptual variables underlying the explanatory style, and enable agents to exhibit different explanatory tendencies with respect to their personalities. Furthermore, we developed an interactive AR agent based on our framework and applied it into an interactive teaming system that allows participants to explore individual differences in the explanation of social events, with the goal of encouraging the development of perspective laking and emotion-regulatory skills.
The purposes of this study are to derive the regions in Seoul that lack gifted education units by analyzing the spatial distribution of the units and to investigate the factors related to the unit locations. The gifted education units are divided into the three following types: the first type is a gifted class at a school, the second type is a gifted education center at a provincial office of education, and the third type is a gifted education center at a university. The results of using a GIS-based spatial analysis were as follows. First, a buffering analysis showed that even though there were gifted educational blind spots in Jongno-gu and in parts of the outskirts of Seoul, the spatial distribution of gifted education units in Seoul seemed homogeneous because they were too small. Second, a special quotient analysis showed that there was a hub unit of gifted education in Guro-gu. Third, an analysis of local Moran's Index showed that Jung-gu was a cold spot and Songa-gu was a hot spot. Fourth, a correlation analysis investigated that the number of gifted education units had generally no statistically significant relationship with economic factors. These results will help to improve the efficiency and equity of the management of the gifted education units in Seoul that will be established or expanded in the future.

This study investigated the causes of the dislikes of Practical Arts education of elementary school students. This study was to provide the foundation for the proposition of alternative plans to make more students participate pleasantly and actively in Practical Arts classes. Data were collected via an open-ended survey from 273 elementary school students and through telephone interviews with five elementary school teachers. The data were analyzed inductively by NVivo. After the analysis of the student data, the analysis of the teacher data was conducted according to the variables from the student data. The results of this research were as follows: First, with regard to the causes of the students' dislikes of Practical Arts classes, extrinsic factors such as instruction management, instruction content, teaching facilities and equipment, and teacher characteristics were elicited. Intrinsic factors included complaints about failing to meet students' expectation from Practical Arts, negative perception of Practical Arts, the interest, competency, and fear of the students. Secondly, the students who learned Practical Arts from the Practical Arts specialty teachers gave more answers on instruction management, instruction content, and teacher characteristics than the students who learned Practical Arts from their homeroom teachers did. The students who learned Practical Arts from their homeroom teachers answered that they disliked Practical Arts because of lack of lab facilities and practice than their counterparts did. The analyses of teacher data provided the reasons and contexts of the dislikes of the students such as teaching facilities and equipment, and the anxiety of the students.

This study assesses the association of nurses' hope, grateful disposition, and workplace spirituality with the goals of providing human resource management plans that lead to efficient and competitive nurse structure by building a nurse organizational culture based on analyzing the influences affecting organizational citizenship behavior. Participants were 147 nurses working in four general hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The survey data were analyzed by frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple stepwise regression via SPSS WIN 18.0. Results showed that organizational citizenship behavior is positively associated with nurse's hope (${\gamma}=.22{\sim}.36$, p<.001), grateful disposition (${\gamma}=.38$, p<.001) and workplace spirituality (${\gamma}=.38{\sim}.54$, p<.001). The significant predictors of organizational citizenship behavior were workplace spirituality (${\beta}=.54$, p<.001), hope of turnover (${\beta}=.12$, p<.001), hope (${\beta}=.09$, p<.001) and grateful disposition (${\beta}=.08$, p<.001), which explained 41.6% of the variance in organizational citizenship behavior. This study systematizes a theory for workplace spirituality processing the early stage research in nurse structure. To improve organizational citizenship behavior among nurses, educational programs and supporting systems should be developed to increase nurses' hope, disposition of grateful disposition, and workplace spirituality.

What is the term "intelligence information society", which is a term that has been continuously discussed recently? This means that the automation beyond the limits of human ability in the whole societies based on intelligent information technology is a universalized social future. In particular, it is a concept that minimizes human intervention and continuously pursues evolution to data (or big data) -based automation. For example, autonomous automation is constantly aiming at unmanned vehicles with artificial intelligence as a key element. However, until now, intelligent information research has focused on the intelligence itself and has made an effort to improve intelligence logic and replace human brain and intelligence. On the other hand, in order to replace the human labor force, we have continued to make efforts to replace workers with robots by analyzing the working principles of workers and developing optimized simple logic. This study proposes important strategies and directions to implement intelligent information education policy and intelligent information technology research strategy by suggesting access strategy, education method and detailed policy road map for intelligent information technology research strategy and educational service. In particular, we propose a phased approach to intelligent information education such as basic intelligence education, intelligent content education, and intelligent application education. In addition, we propose education policy plan for the improvement of intelligent information technology, intelligent education contents, and intelligent education system as an important factor for success and failure of the 4th industrial revolution, which is centered on intelligence and automation.
