This study, as one of the specific suggestions to satisfy the social needs of life long education and to overcome the limitations of the supply of regional facilities, presents plans for the possibility of the mixed-use of educational facilities and regional facilities as the ultimate objective. By focusing on the space composition of the mixed-use facility to execute the roles of the educational establishment actively and efficiently, the purpose is to present the mixed-use methodology in architectural plan on which functions to combine and by how much, when the mixed-use plan of educational facilities. The investigation objects was the 27 elementary schools in Seoul which have undergone mixed-use of educational facilities work as at August, 2007. And each educational facility was classified mixed-use functions and analyzed for the composition form of functions and the characteristics by functions. And for mixed-use facility, form types were derived from the relationship with the school buildings through the analysis on characteristics, strengths and weaknesses of each types were presented by factor-by-factor plan directions of mixed-use facility.

The purpose of this study is to develop the Korean New Deal policy in the post-corona era, and furthermore, to provide basic data to discover and present a desirable future educational facility environment-related agenda that will help the successful realization of the policy. In order to achieve the above research purpose, we explored the new paradigm shift for the education new deal in the post-COVID-19 era and the future educational facility environment through Korean and overseas related policies, reports, and source books. And a Delphi survey was conducted on panels of experts in the front-line education field, academia, and industry. As a result, 5 areas were derived as key domains of the educational facility environment in the post-COVID-19 era, and a total of 33 agendas [8 in green, 9 in smart, 9 in spatial innovation, 4 in school facilities complexation, and 3 in others (safety)] were derived. The study findings confirmed that the demand for the smart area and spatial innovation area as the educational facility environment agenda in the post-COVID-19 era was relatively high compared to the green area or school facilities complexation area. Therefore, when establishing educational facility policies in the future, it is necessary to establish customized policies that reflect the demands and needs for the smart area and spatial innovation area, whereas it is necessary to focus more on establishing policies that improve awareness and interest about the green area and school facilities complexation area.

Practice-related appliances were selected through investigation of the current middle school laboratory, and analysis of the technology textbooks of the 7th curriculum. Laboratory layout was achieved with consideration of the teacher's and students need of safety and close proximity to laboratory facilities and equipment. Our recommendation takes the SLP survey results into consideration. The results of this study are as follows: The following floor plan is recommended. The facility layout will insure that students are able to work safely, in full view of academic instructors. The purpose of this study is to analyze the state-of-the-art solar energy system design cases among LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified school projects and to explore the feasibilities for their applications in domestic school design. Investigating the sold wattages in some kinds of buildings, the wattages per an educational facility is the second-largest after that per an industrial facility. That shows that our attention should be actively directed to the utilization of New and Renewable Energy in school facilities. Therefore photovoltaics systems, lighting systems and solarthermal facilities of solar energy systems were analyzed in the LEED cases. Findings demonstrate that applications of solar energy systems in K-12 educational facilities have been executed more than those in higher educational facilities. However, K-12 educational facilities and higher educational facilities by private funds are not categorized as Green Buildings by Support for Making Green Buildings Act. That fact is needed to be amended. Besides that, design developments are needed for building integrated photovoltaics systems and solarthermal facilities in domestic educational facilities.

The purpose of the study is to propose architectural design standards of the Multi-purpose Auditorium planning in educational facilities. The success of the design is measured by how well variable elements are applied to parts of Multi-purpose Auditorium and designed and equipped so that all groups-amateurs, professionals, youth, and adult alike-may use it effectively. The use of this facility will extend over a wide range, including concerts, plays, motion pictures, forums, and other forms of presentation. The wall, stage, roof, windows, and furnitures are important parts of Multi-purpose Auditorium and variable elements can applied to these parts. To successfully application of variable elements, it is necessary that these elements are considered in planning phase including time schedule planning. Various elements are permit a more informal and flexible arrangement and extensive learning activity.

This study investigates the results of planning high school facility in accordance with the scope of the 7th educational curriculum by employing user satisfaction methodology. A high school in On-Yang, built recently to fulfill the objective of the curriculum was investigated in detail. Structured interview survey on both students and teachers were done while observation of the entire facility was carried out at the same time. Based on analysis of the interview and the observation, questions were developed, and subsequently questionnaire surveys, focused on how satisfied the students were regarding the school facility and what improvements could be made, were completed. The findings suggest that the degree of variation in planning class room should be employed considerably, as well as the efficiency of route among the facility blocks. Aspects of the other planning factors such as storey height, location of doors and windows, and equipments regarding the purpose of class room are additionally discussed.

Midium-size Companies have participated in most of the Educational Facility Construction. Since they are lack of special manpower, construction experience, and know-how, many construction defects cause. A water leakage is a typical construct defect in the educational facility construction. A water leakage prevention has to be careful considered in plan, construction and maintenance stages. Therefore, this study suggests Check List for the water leakage prevention, which designer/engineer must consider in plan, construction, and maintenance stages for the educational facility.

The purpose of this study is to provide a basis for calculation of school operation fees for normal functioning of the school facilities, and facility maintenance and repair cost through their life spans, considering remodeling of the facilities and changes of their functions. This study analyzes maintenance and repair records during the three years from 2003 to 2005 in primary, middle and high schools in Incheon Metropolitan city and also the facility management and operation expenditure of the same schools in the city during the year of 2005, and presents quantified unit cost of each item according to the area, the age of the facilities, and the number of classroom, student, and lessons given. The calculation can be a basis for both BTL school facility managers and the general school facility mangers to budget school facility maintenance cost appropriately and the quantity of energy, water, electricity, and telephone fees calculated here can be a criteria for the managers to check the normal maintenance of their facility.
