  • The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of elementary teachers about educational technology. Educational technology that is embodied at school was the form of "systemic structure" whose components are complex and exert close mutual influence on one another, rather than of "systemic assembly" that relationship of components were well controlled. A qualitative epistemological method was used to look into educational technology instead of existing empirical ones. Metaphor analysis was utilized among various qualitative research methods to find out what elementary teachers thought of educational technology. Six elementary teachers were asked to draw a picture to describe what came into their mind when they heard term of "educational technology," and they were interviewed in depth to check what their pictures meant. As a result, elementary teachers expressed their point of views about educational technology as "a scientific, technical and systemized instrument to stir up the learning interest and joy of students," "an action to mechanically fit together every part of education(curriculum)," "educational technology as a teaching and learning method," and "an integrated and overall system." This finding seemed to have something to do with media theory, teaching and learning theory and system theory that have been used in educational technology. This study was expected to be significance in that it investigated the way of looking at educational technology in the field, and confirmed the close relationship between theory and practice, and finally provided an opportunity to reflect on the ontological nature and epistemological method of educational technology.

  • This study propose the educational potential of an activity that solves the task of one-stroke drawing of complex figures using a drag-and-drop type educational programming language such as Scratch. The problem of determining whether a given shape is capable of one-stroke drawing is a separate problem from actually finding the path of one-stroke drawing and implementing it through programming. In particular, finding a path that allows one-stroke drawing of complex shapes with regularity and implementing it through programming requires problem-solving capabilities based on the convergence of various mathematical knowledge. Accordingly, in this study, problems related to one-stroke drawing concerning polygon-related shapes, tessellation-related shapes, and fractal shapes were presented, and the results of one-stroke drawing programming of the shapes were exemplified. In addition, the mathematical knowledge and computational thinking elements necessary for the solution of the illustrated problem were analyzed. This study is significant as a new example of the mathematics education that combines mathematics and information.

  • In recent years, the construction industry has rapidly adopted offsite-manufacturing and distributed construction methods. This change brings a variety of challenges requiring innovative solutions, such as the utilization of AI-driven and generative design. Numerous studies have explored the concept of multi-objective generative design with genetic algorithms in construction. However, this paper highlights the challenges and proposes a solution for combining generative design with distributed construction to address the need for agility in design. To achieve this goal, the research delves into the development of a multi-objective generative design optimization using a weighted genetic algorithm based on simulated annealing. The specific design case adopted is an educational complex. The proposed process strives for scalable economic viability, environmental comfort, and operational efficiency by optimizing modular configurations of architectural spaces, facilitating affordable, scalable, and optimized construction. Rhino-Grasshopper and Galapagos design tools are used to create a virtual environment capable of generating architectural configurations within defined boundaries. Optimization factors include adherence to urban regulations, acoustic comfort, and sunlight exposure. A normalized scoring approach is also presented to prioritize design preferences, enabling systematic and data-driven design decision-making. Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools are also used to transform the optimization results into tangible architectural elements and visualize the outcome. The resulting process contributes both to practice and academia. Practitioners in AEC industry could gain benefit through adopting and adapting its features with the unique characteristics of various construction projects while educators and future researchers can modify and enhance this process based on new requirements.

  • C programming is a main programming for the Educational Robot Arm which is based on AVR ATmega128. The development environment is not integrated, so it is complex and difficult to study for middle or high school students who want to learn programming and control the educational robot arm. Furthermore, there is no debug and testing environment support. This paper presents a Java-based development platform for the educational robot arm. This platform includes: an up-to-date tiny Java Virtual Machine (NanoVM) for the educational robot arm; An Eclipse based Java integrated development environment as an Eclipse plug-in; a 3D simulator on the PCs to support testing and debugging programs without real robots. The Java programming environment makes development for educational robot arm easier for students.

  • Electronic media are an integral part of modern civilization; educational practices are no exception, which should change the content orientations, structures and methodological approaches in accordance with the requirements of the educational market. This makes it relevant to find effective and successful configurations in the process of implementing modern educational practices. The purpose of the research lies in determining the basic principles of electronic media and their place in modern education, identifying the effectiveness of teaching disciplines with application of electronic media, as well as establishing the level of assessment by students of the need to involve different types of electronic media in the educational process and professional practice. The research methodology is complex; the descriptive method and methods of observation, analysis and synthesis have been used in the academic paper. The method of pedagogical experiment has become the principal one; the method of questionnaires and statistical methods have been also used. The hypothesis of the academic paper lies in the fact that the involvement of electronic media in the educational process makes it more effective and requires conceptual changes in educational practices. The result of the research manifests in the identification of new opportunities for the use of electronic media, leading to conceptual shifts in the framework of modern educational policies. In the future, it will be appropriate to consider the theoretical aspects of changing worldview models in education and the use of new media in the educational process, their effectiveness and relevance.

  • In the programming education, there is a great need of a teaching support system that can support the learner in the programming process regardless of the computer language due to instructor's difficulty of checking the progress of learners in real-time. Its importance is especially important in lower grade coding classes such as in K-12 education because they are not used to coding and so simple problems can be regarded as complex problems. For this, a pilot coding education support system based on Levenshtein distance algorithm which shows learners' progress to given solution in real-time was developed in order to help learners to solve complex problems easily, and the learners' motivation and self-efficacy was measured for estimating the usefulness of developed system targeting elementary school students. When the learners use the developed system, it was found that a statistically significant difference appears in the sub-factors of learning motivation compared with traditional class teaching environments. Among the sub-factors of self-efficacy, the efficacy dimension showed statistically significant difference too.

  • This study focuses on the review of the present condition of schools and regional public facilities and finds out the basic direction and practical task to utilize a mixed-use school as a regional community hub reorganizing schools and regional public facilities. School facilities have enough potential to be a center of everyday life and educational function with accessibility in neighborhood living environment. Nevertheless it has institutional limitation to make school facility work for entire region because schools and regional public facilities are built and administrated without collaboration of the local governments and office of education. Also current mixed-use school facilities are planned separately or laid out monotonously without local resident's demands. This research analyzes the possibility of mixed-use facility of current operating schools and regional public facilities in Gang-nam gu and categorizes possible public facilities for mixed-use. For successful complex plan of schools and public facilities, next step will be the improvement of administration and laws and the analysis of facilities what local residents need from the preliminary stage with consultation of various stakeholders.
