  • The change of digital convergence service environment converted the subject of design into user -centric one instead of developer-centric one, and changed the existing design environment focused on product development into the new user -centric design environment. Accordingly, GUI considering user's usability come to take big shares in those contents being used for multimedia equipments. However, as the present educational contents provide complex interface due to its design produced based on the existing e-learning system, they have many problems in that they don't consider user's usability. Thus this paper aimed to analyze actual examples through GUI elements of educational contents being used for multimedia equipments and attempt to suggest some directions for development. additionally, consider the various characteristics of digital convergence environment and educational contents, and try to set up strategic directions possible to utilize user'-centric interface elements more usefully and properly at the time to produce designs.

  • Globalization of higher education deepens the competition in the global educational services market. Competition between higher education institutions is based on the use of a wide range of activities and tools that are constantly evolving and becoming more complex. Digitalization significantly transforms the approaches to competition between universities in educational, research and marketing activities. Digital technologies are becoming an integral part of this competition. In addition, in the current conditions of globalization of the scientific and educational space, numerous rankings of universities have become an important tool of the competition; the most significant rankings of universities are as follows: Academic Ranking of World Universities (China), Times Higher Education Rankings of Universities (Great Britain), Webometrics (Spain). In the article, the key principles of the formation of world rankings of universities are analyzed, the main sources of information resources for their compilation are determined. The authors have concluded that the improvement of the position of educational institutions in the world rankings of universities should be implemented within the framework of the state educational policy. The key positive effects of universities due to increasing the competitiveness level of the national higher education system are specified.

  • The society of intelligence-information complex is a fresh world that connects things, knowledge and calculation with human. What is the condition of educational reform in this world? Robinson and Aronica(2015) suggest educational reform at the center of organic agriculture, in which they focus on the dignity of human as an organic being. Human consists in an intelligence and a life. We have to ask to ourselves what is the human in this Age. The development of AI represented by deep-learning will be an actual condition in the educational reform. In the other hand, the combination with an information technology and art rises a question about a life itself. So, we have to ask the question seriously that overlap what is the human and what is a life. Two questions about human and a life cast a philosophical paradox in the age of AI.

A Study on How to Use Calculators in Elementary Mathematics Education in Korea (우리나라 초등학교 수학교육에 적용 가능한 계산기 활용 방안 연구)

  • Calculators can be instructional instruments to be used specially in problem situations which need calculations through calculators. A calculator-calculations is one of the various calculation methods. As there are problem situations for each method, there are problem situations for a calculator-calculation, too. Basically, calculator-calculations can be admitted in any cases which need not paper-and-pencil calculations, estimations, mental calculations, and computer-calculations. In this paper, some basic knowledges on how to use calculators in elementary mathematics education are offered. Students learn concepts easier by doing complex and tedious calculations through calculators than through paper-and-pencil calculations. And, by doing complex and tedious calculations in problem solving, they can focus on understanding problems, planning, and looking back. Calculator can be used directly in phases of understanding and planning. Calculators can be used to practice guess and check strategies. Problems which contain calculations beyond students' paper-and-pencil calculations abilities. So, as a result, students' experiences on problem solving can be extended. Calculators experiences can affect students' persistences, confidences, enthusiasms, self-esteems positively.

  • The purpose of this study is to renovate a closed school to a artist studio complex applying sustainable principles and methods. Through the case study, the principle and methods of sustainable renovation is investigated and following strategies are extracted as a frame of renovation. First, atrium space with thermal mass using existing wall is proposed as a public gathering space. Second, light shelves for effective lighting and shading device for protecting and allowing sun light is proposed to renovate existing classroom. Third, double skin system is proposed with reflection pool to activate heating and ventilation for passive solar as well as passive cooling. Finally, simulation programs such as energy-10 and Form-Z is used to confirm the validity of the sustainable design.

  • The objective of this study is to propese a model of elementary school whih reflects the goal of the 7th Reform in Primary & Seconday School Curriculum and attracts prtvate investment through Seokwang elementaey snhool in Seosan. The chief concept of architectural planning on this school is brought out by the analysis of the 7th Reform which pursues a self-regulative and initiative education. Based on this analysis, a proper dimensions of each space are proposed and a new model of elementary school which includes zoning by grade in grouping of the classrooms and outdoor spaces is proposed. As there is no domestic example of the elementary school complex with attraction of private investment in public schools, the matters which must be consideed in planning of this complex are unvectigated, and actual plan for Seokwang elementary school is proposed.

  • It is evident that the education of architecture is being transformed under the influence of technological, environmental, social, and financial challenges. BIM application for design education is innovative responses that are expected to provide the high ground for the AEC industry. So the purpose of this paper introduces that application of BIM for design education of students is efficiency and effectiveness through an actual experiment by elementary school project. The results by actual experiment elaborate the role of BIM in architectural education and its appropriate place in the curriculum. Also they state that increasingly complex nature of professional world that is reliant on design teams, joint development efforts, and more complex design projects makes obsolete the designer who is trained as solo artist engaging in competitive and individual pursuits.

  • Rapid urbanization has led to the decline of local communities in old city centers and the deterioration of school facilities, resulting in an increased need for school complexes. School complexes are currently growing, with various policies being proposed. However, integrating additional facilities into the existing infrastructure in schools can lead to a range of issues. To mitigate these issues, additional traffic flow paths and complex integration strategies are required. This study categorizes school complex projects into various types based on themes and examines the relationships between each type and community revitalization factors. Through this analysis, the study recommends desirable directions for the implementation of elementary school complex projects to revitalize local communities.
