Seapage condition by sea water may appears on sea dike due to the gap of tidal, which generated by the sealevel repeatedly moves up and down result of the change of tidal level. In this study, apparatus was developed to apply similitude after setting the critical section. It was found that the soil loss was dramatically increased by increasing hydraulic gradient step by step. Also, to understand the change of seadike which considered the changes of the change of tidal level and inside sealevel, it was executed the experiments which divided the sea level condition of inside by continually changes the sealevel difference which is outside of the high tide and ebb tide.
Velocity variability of Masan Inlet in the northernpart of Chinhae Bay is studied on the basis of the cross-sectional net velocity distributions and its root-mean-square. They were calculated during three consecutive cycles at spring tide as well as two cycles at near tide with precipitations in June and July 1985. During the spring tide, net ebb flow take place in the western channel while net flood flow in the eastern channel of the cross-section. On the contrary, the direction of both net flows during the neap tide with precipitations is reversed. R.M.S. isotachs show that the highest velocity is 15 cm/sec at spring tide and 10.3 cm/sec at neap tide, and the greatest velocity is persistently found at the surface layer of the western channel of the cross-section at each tidal cycle. It is shown that the major part of constituents of the constant flow in the Inlet is the tidal residual current. The density-driven current, however, plays an important role afer the heavy precipitations.
The purpose of this study is to determine the distribution of the suspended matter caused by dredging at the northeastern part of Kwangyang Bay and to determine the effect of the single silt protector for it. According to the direction of the tidal current, six sampling stations were chosen from the dredging site to the southeast. At the high tide, the high concentration of the suspended matter was observed below the mid-depth near the dredging site. As the tidal currents were stronger. its concentrations below the mid-depth at the inner stations of the single silt protector were rapidly increased, but those of the outer stations did not show any significant change. The concentrations at the inner stations of the silt protector at that time were from 20~140mg/l and those of the outer stations, which was only about 30 m apart from the inner station, were from 20~30mg/l. It suggests that the large amount of suspended matter caused by dredging were moved to the inner stations near the silt protector at the ebb tide and that the silt protector is very effective for the suspended matter.
Two-level numerical models are formulated to predict the flow pattern, SS(suspended solids) distribution and the behavior of discharged fresh water in estuary, and are applied to the Suyoung River estuary in Pusan, Korea. To verify the application of the models, field observations of tidal current, salinity and 55 were performed during the period of spring tide. Computed upper level velocities by two-level model are in better agreement with observed values than single model. Apart from the magnitude of the velocities, the predicted flow fields at upper level are similar to those obtained at lower level. Upper level velocities in river channel during ebb spring tide are about 2 times stronger than those during flood spring tide due to the discharging flow rate from the Suyoung River. Two-level model results on the salinity and 55 distribution at upper level are compared with the observed ones at the surface. Computed salinity distributions are in good agreement with the observed values, but computed 55 distributions show $6{\~}10$ ppm higher values than the observed ones.
In order to grasp physical characteristics of Ganajin Bay receiving the effluents from land, a comprehensive field surve)'has been conducted at the north of Wando and Gogeumdo in 2002. Water temperature was most high in September while most low in December. A high temperature in September was inferred to have caused by the dispersion of warm fresh water with favor of a dominant wind in autumn. However, salinity and sigma-t in situ was most low in September while most high in December. A low salinity (or density) in September turned out to reflect the influence of a dense rainfall in summer. Water temperature, salinity and density at the surface layer were lower than those at the bottom layer, except for December. Their horizontal profiles suggested the influence of effluents such as Tamjin River. Particularly, time series of water temperature acquired near the sluice and at the north channel of Wando tended to rise at the flood flow but fall at the ebb flow in accordance with the tide. The form ratio of the tide in the study area was $0.31\~0.32$ and the amplitude of the tide appeared to increase towards the west. Northeastward or southwestward flows prevailed in this area but the residual flows were all northeastward with a magnitude of $3\~4cm/s$.

The Port of Pyeong Taek is located on the west coast, meaning that the difference between the rise and fall of tide is great (flood tide 1.8 to 2.9 knots, ebb tide 1.6 to 2.9 knots). Due to mainly N~NW'ly strong winds & high waves during winter, navigating as well as loading & discharging vessels must focus on cargo handling. The strong tidal and wind forces in the Port of Pyeong Taek can push an LNG carrier away from its berth, which will end up causing forced disconnection between the vessel's cargo line and shore-side loading arm. The primary consequence of this disconnection will be LNG leakage, which will lead to tremendous physical damage to the hull and shore-side equipment. In this study, the 125K LNG Moss Type ship docked at No. 1 Pier of the Pyeong Taek is observed, and the tension of the mooring line during cargo handling is calculated using a combination of wind and waves to determine effective mooring line and mooring line priority management. As a result if the wind direction is $90^{\circ}$ to the left and right of the bow, it was found that line monitoring should be performed bearing special attention to the Fore Spring Line, Fore Breast Line, and Aft Spring Line.
Tidal exchanges of sea water are studied by using drogue experiments and tidal current measurement data in Gamag Bay which has two channels. At the spring tide, the volume of tidal transport in the bay was estimated to be 46∼52% of the total volume of sea water in Gamag Bay, 7.1 10$\^$8/㎥. The tidal transport through the wide channel occupies 87% of the total tide transport of the bay. Residual current was deduced to flow north-northeastward at the rate of 3.254 10$\^$5/㎥ per tidal cycle. the tidal exchange of the sea water during the flood flow was estimated to be approximately 26% of the tidal transport, while that during the ebb flow was 41%. The tidal exchange through the wide channel during the flood flow occupies 77% of total tidal exchange of the bay through both channels, whereas that during the ebb flow does 88%. The diffusion coefficient of 2.08∼ 2.30 10$\^$7/$\textrm{cm}^2$/sec at the narrow channel was greater than that at the wide channel which was 1.2∼2.8 10$\^$6/$\textrm{cm}^2$/sec.

The characteristics of suspended sediment transport are analyzed at the estuaries which show significant shallow water tides, following the previous research for bottom sediment transport at the same estuaries. Several theories which are related with the formation and transition of turbidity maximum are reconfirmed by the numerical experiments. The experiments suggest the necessity of modeling the shallow water tide as a boundary condition, as was also suggested for the bed sediment transport at the previous research. Both the differences of transport characteristics between bed and suspended sediment and the differences between flood/ebb dominances and high/low water dominances are also examined at the Keum River and Youngsan River estuaries. In addition, the transport of bed and suspended sediments are found to have the opposite directions at the Youngsan River estuary which has extensive tidal flat, and thus shows pronounced ebb dominance, which is considered to be a main reason of keeping present bathymetry.
The three-dimensional hydrodynamic model was simulated to understand coastal sea front of formation and seasonal variation in the Southern Sea of Korea. In this study, we used to concept of stratification factor, to realize seasonal distribution of stratification coefficient which of seasonal residual flow, considered with, tide, wind and density effect. Tidal current tends to flow westward during the flood and eastward during ebb. The current by the wind stress showed to be much stronger the coastal than the offshore area in the surface layer. And the current by the horizontal gradient of water density showed to be relatively weak in the coastal area, with little seasonal differences. On the other hand, the flow in the offshore area showed results similar to that of the Tsushima Warm Current. The stratification factor (SHv) was calculated by taking into account the total flow of tide, wind and density effect. In summer, the calculated SHv distribution ranged from 2.0 to 2.5, similar to that of the coastal sea front. The horizontal temperature gradient showed to be strong during the winter, when the vertical stratification is weak. On the other hand, the horizontal gradient became weak in summer, during which vertical stratification is strong. Therefore, it is presume that the strength of vertical stratification and the horizontal temperature gradient affect the position of the coastal sea front.

In this study, spectral analysis was conducted to identify environmental factors af ecting short-term changes in water temperature in the East, West and South coasts of Korea. The data used in the spectrum analysis is the 2016 summer water temperature, air temperature, tide level and wind data provided by Korea Hydrographic & Oceanographic Agency. In power spectrum results, peaks of water temperature and tide level were observed at same periods in West Sea (Incheon, Pyeungteak, Gunsan and Mokpo) and South Sea (Wando, Goheung, Yeosu, Tongyeong and Masan) where mean tidal range was more than 100 cm. On the other hand, periodicity of water temperature did not appear in East Sea and Busan where the mean tidal range was small. Coherence analysis showed that water temperature was highly correlated with tide in West Sea and three stations(Wando, Goheung and Tongyeong) of South Sea. Especially, correlation between water temperature and tide level in Wando and Tongyeong presented 0.96 at semi-diurnal period. Water temperature in Yeosu seems to have influenced by tide and inflow of fresh water. In Masan, water temperature is influenced by south wind, tide and inflow of fresh water. In East Sea, influence of tide on water temperature is small due to current and small tidal range. As a result of comparing the time series graph, stations where the correlation between water temperature and tide is high show that relatively cold water was inputted at flood tide and flow out at ebb tide. short-term variation of water temperature was affected by tide, but long-term variation over a month was affected by air temperature.
