In this paper, we propose an edge detection scheme for noisy images based on the co-occurrence matrix. In the proposed scheme based on the step edge model, the gray level information is simply converted into a bit-map, i.e., the uniform and boundary regions of an image are transformed into a binary pattern by using the local mean. In this binary bit-map pattern, 0 and 1 densely distributed near the boundary region while they are randomly distributed in the uniform region. To detect the boundary region, the co-occurrence matrix on the bit-map is introduced. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is shown via a quantitative performance comparison to the conventional edge detection methods and the simulation results for noisy images are also presented.
The level set based approach is one of active methods for contour extraction in image segmentation. Since Osher and Sethian introduced the level set framework in 1988, the method has made the great impact on image segmentation. However, there are some problems to be solved; such as multi-objects segmentation, noise filtering and much calculation amount. In this paper we address the drawbacks of the previous level set methods and propose an extension of the traditional fast level set to cope with the limitations. We introduce a relationship matrix, a new split-and-merge criterion, a modified Chan-Vese criterion and a novel filtering criterion into the traditional fast level set approach. With the segmentation experiments we evaluate the proposed method and show the promising results of the proposed method.

A method for the dynamic analysis of multibody systems undertaking impulsive force is introduced in this paper. A partial velocity matrix based on Kane's method is introduced to reduce the number of equations to be solved. Only minimum number of equations of motion can be obtained by using the partial velocity matrix. This reduces the computational effort significantly to obtain the dynamic response of the system. At the very moment of the impulse, instead of using the numerical integrator to solve the equations of motion, the impulse and momentum principle is used to obtain the dynamic response. The impulse as wall as the reaction force acting on the kinematic joints can easily calculated too.
In this work, the effect of catalysts on the mechanical properties of carbon fibers-reinforced epoxy matrix composites cured by cationic latent thermal catalysts, i.e., N-benzylpyrazinium hexafluoroantimonate (BPH) was studied. Differential scanning calorimetry was executed for thermal characterization of the epoxy matrix system. Mechanical interfacial properties of the composites were studied by interlaminar shear strength (ILSS), critical stress intensity factor ($K_{IC}$), and specific fracture energy ($G_{IC}$). As a result, the conversion of neat epoxy matrix cured by BPH was higher than that of one cured by diaminodiphenyl methane (DDM). The ILSS, $K_{IC}$, $G_{IC}$, and impact strength of the composites cured by BPH were also superior to those of the composites cured by DDM. This was probably the consequence of the effect of the substituted benzene group of BPH catalyst, resulting in an increase in the cross-link density and structural stability of the composites studied.
All are organizations embedded, here in after, Em-organizaion that confronts the ever-growing complexity. It is important to know Em-organization through Individual Mastery. The complexity must be decreased, and clarified in order to derive to get our ontology from the influence of others. The opportunity to learn in practice is embedded in processes that the community developed. Driving strategic innovation is achieving breakthrough performance throughout the value chain. We used to express complex unit on matrix which includes only the federal statutes because the role of information technology should be a source of competitive advantages each other. Therefore, we got the idea that integrated both kinds of knowledge to create differentiation by ourselves. This practice is situated the learning of Strategic CoP in e-class seminar of our graduate school. We suggest theoretically two things. One is matrix-based decision. Another is creating new context through systems thinking.
A new evaluation technique, i.e. multicriterion matrix technique, on the vegetation assessment was proposed and compared with several techniques having been previously used in the environmental impact assessment. Four criterias and 10 subcriterias were selected for two evaluation indices such as vegetation naturalness value and vegetation class. These criterias were characterized by syntaxonomical informations of hemeroby concept and potential vegetation, hierarchical system between criterias, and ordinal scale of vegetation naturalness valuse. Vegetation naturalness values were classified into 11 ordinal levels and condensed to five vegetation classes for facilitating practical use. In the example study two sites were compared by using two indices. This technique could have useful applications for ssessment of regional vegetation. A vegetation map of naturalness described by combination of two indices was proposed in order to illustrate regional vegetation naturalness.
Parallel implementation is conducted for a SIMPLER finite volume model. The present parallelism is based on domain decomposition and explicit message passing using MPI and SHMEM. Two parallel solvers to tridiagonal matrix equation are employed. The implementation is verified on the Cray T3E system for a benchmark problem of natural convection in a sidewall-heated cavity. The test results illustrate good scalability of the present parallel models. Performance issues are elaborated in view of convergence as well as conventional parallel overheads and single processor performance. The effectiveness of a localized matrix solution algorithm is demonstrated.

This paper study the effect of open cracks on the dynamic behavior of simply supported Timoshenko beam with a moving mass. The influences of the depth and the position of the crack in the beam have been studied on the dynamic behavior of the simply supported beam system by numerical method. Using Lagrange's equation derives the equation of motion. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged beam segments i.e. the crack is modeled as a rotational spring. This flexibility matrix defines the relationship between the displacements and forces on the crack section and is derived by the applying fundamental fracture mechanics theory. As the depth of the crack is increased the mid-span deflection of the Timoshenko beam with the moving mass is increased. And the effects of depth and position of crack on dynamic behavior of simply supported beam with moving mass are discussed.

We derive a linear matrix inequality(LMI) condition guaranteeing that any invariant zeros of a triple (A, B, C) lie in the open left half plane of the complex plane, i.e. $C(sI-A)^{-1}B$ is minimum phase. The LMI condition is equivalent to a certain constrained Lyapunov matrix equation which can be found in many results relating to stability analysis or control design. We show that the LMI condition can be used to simplify various control engineering problems such as a dynamic output feedback control problem, a variable structure static output feedback control problem, and a nonlinear system observer design problem. Finally, we give some numerical examples.
We present a process for printing active matrix displays. In this process, transistors are fabricated using soluble semi-conducting and conducting materials. Accurate definition of the transistor channel and other circuit components is achieved by direct inkjet printing combined with surface energy patterning. We present results on our 4,800 pixel, 50 dpi, active matrix displays.
