미취학 자녀를 둔 도시 맞벌이 부부의 여가시간에 관한 연구 (The Analysis of Leisure Time Use of Urban Dual-earner Couples with Preschool Children)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine gender equity in the quantity and flow experience of leisure time of urban dual-earner couples having preschool children. The quantity of leisure time is measured by primary activity and the flow experience of leisure time is measured by primary and secondary activities. The data collected by Korean National Statistical Office in 2004 is used. The sample for this study consists of 255 couples, and the statistical methods are frequency, percentage, paired t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The following is a summary of the major findings. The first, the pattern of the leisure time was different between husbands and wives. The quantity of leisure time of husbands was longer than that of wives. The husbands spent more time to perform social activities, media contact, sports and outdoor activities, while women did more in religious activities. The second, husband's leisure flow experience was higher than that of wives. The pure leisure time of wives was shorter than that of husbands and wives experienced more contaminated leisure time by a secondary activity. In other words, wives's leisure is more likely to be interrupted, to involve episodes of shorter duration, and to be associated with personal care and unpaid work.

  • The Korean family is changing. The growth in dual-earner households has been the 'revolution' of the century, implying inevitable modification of the role division in marriage toward greater symmetry of responsibility for breadwinning and homemaking. So, the purpose of this study is to understand husbands' housework and to investigate the change of the husbands' housework. This means to investigate how the husband is related to housework. For these research purpose, 60 dual-earner couples were deeply interviewed. The major discussions of this study can be summarized as follows: There are four types of housework in men's work, the type of refusal, the type of avoidance, the type of inevitability, and the type of participation. These types are taken order to understand change in housework is women's work. Men in the type of avoidance in household work is 25%, they have a tendency to avoid housework with making any excuses. People in the type of inevitability is 20%. These men are compelled to work in household owing to circumstances beyond control. 13% of couples is type of participation. These have a new idea of housework. They don't get the gender role division. They can become a good husband. and eventually solve conflicts and problems in couples.

맞벌이부부의 부모역할갈등과 심리적 복지 (Parental Role Conflict and Psychological Well-being of Dual-earner Couples)

  • This study were looked for the common patterns of dual-earner couples' parental role conflicts, psychological well-being and the variables that influence their psychological well-being. The data of this study were collected from 265 dual-earner couples, and were analyzed using frequencies, percentage, means, Pearson's correlation, Cronbach's alpha, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test. multiple regression. The major finding are summarized in the following. (1) In general, the wives 'level of parental role conflict was higher than the husbands'. There was no significant differences between husbands and wives in terms of psychological well-being and life, but wives' depression was greater than husbands'. (2) As for the variables that affected parental role conflict, income, the age of the first job satisfaction, work adjustment, parenting satisfaction, parenting participation by the husband, the level of child care expenses, and cognitive assessment of mother employment were found to be significant. (3) For both husbands and wives, psychological well-being was positively related to income, education level, job satisfaction, level of job importance, work adjustment, parenting satisfaction, parenting participation by the husband, cognitive assessment of mother employment. (4) Couples' psychological well-being was influenced by job satisfaction and parental role conflict.

유급노동 시간대 비동기화가 맞벌이 부부의 가사분업에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Paid Work Time Desynchronization on Dual-Earner Couples' Division of Household Labor)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether paid work time desynchronization affected housework time desynchronization. Time slot data from the Korean Time Use Survey data from 2014 was analyzed. This study included 1,475 married couples aged 20 to 59. They were dual-earner couples, heterosexual couples, and both partners worked during the day, either durong the week or on the weekend. The data was analyzed by the following four groups: weekday-husband, weekday-wife, and weekend-husband, weekend-wife. The results demonstrated that as the desynchronization of paid work increased, the desynchronization of time spent on housework in the weekday-husband and weekend-husband groups also increased. Second, the amount of leisure time did not affect the desynchronization of time spent on housework. Lastly, the amount of time that one person spent on housework increased the housework time desynchronization level. In addition, if the family had children who attended primary, middle, or high school-mothers in the weekday-wife group completed more housework. These results demonstrated that paid work time desynchronization might be a way to decrease the amount of time that dual-earner wives' spent housework.

  • This study constructed a family life education program designed to help dual-earner couples reduce their role strain. This program is consisted of 6 sessions aiming for understanding the multidimensional affecting factors of role strain, strengthening family system, sharing the housework, managing time effectively reducing the additional role and adjusing standard, maintaining desirable attitude on work and family. We expect this program to be helpful in reducing dual-earner families' role strain and the active using of role strain coping strategies.

  • The purpose of the stud is to present an model of the distress process for dual-earner couples. For the data set 340 husbands and wives in dual-earner families living in Pusan were chosen. The questionnaire was composed of Family Stressor Scale Family Resources Scale, Distress Scale. The data were analyzed with the SPSS statistical pacakage using t-test the one-rather than husband. And cothestion, adaptability and the level of stress recognition are important factors affecting the level of physical and psychological distress directly.

아내 소득기여도가 맞벌이 부부의 가사노동시간에 미치는 효과: 조사시기와의 상호작용효과를 중심으로 (The Effect of Wives' Household Income Contributions on Dual-Earner Couples' Housework Time: Focus on Investigating Period Interaction Effects)

  • 본 연구의 첫 번째 목적은 아내 소득기여도가 맞벌이 부부의 가사시간이 영향을 미치는지 확인하는 것이다. 두 번째 목적은 아내 소득기여도 효과에 대한 조사시기 조절효과를 살피는 것이다. 이를 위해서 2004년부터 2019년까지의 통계청 생활시간조사를 분석하였다. 분석대상은 20세 이상 60세 미만 맞벌이 부부이다. 종속변수는 맞벌이 부부의 가사시간이며, 분석방법은 토빗 분석이다. 분석 결과 세 가지 사실들을 발견하였다. 첫째, 아내 소득기여도와 아내 가사시간 사이에는 U자형 관계가 있었다. 둘째, 시간이 흐르면서 아내 소득기여도와 아내 가사시간 사이의 U자형 관계는 점점 더 강해지고 있었다. 셋째, 아내 소득기여도가 증가할수록 남편 가사시간은 증가하지만 2019년 이전까지 남편의 가사시간은 사실상 0에 가까웠다. 이상의 결과들은 맞벌이 부부의 가사분업을 이해하기 위해서는 경제학적 관점이 아닌 젠더적 관점이 더 유용함을 보여준다.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the typology of child care, investigate the characteristics of child care types, and analyze the differences in time deficit as well as time satisfaction by the types of child care for dual-earner couples with preschool children. The data source for this research was the 2009 Time Use Survey conducted by the Korea National Statistical Office. Dual-earners aged 20 to 59 years completed 1,568 time diaries, which were analyzed using chi-square, cluster analysis, and ANOVA analysis. Child care time was classified into three types in the three categories of child care, household work sharing and leisure sharing for both males and females respectively. Three types for husbands were named "vulnerable", "household work child care predominant" and "leisure predominant". The three types for wives were named "vulnerable", "household work child care oriented" and "household work child care". The characteristics of each type depended on age, education, weekly working hours, gender role of husbands and age, weekly working hours of wives. The vulnerable type of wives showed the highest level of time deficit. Based on the results, implications for Public policy on child care and various types of education as well as programs were suggested.

  • This study was investigated the marital satisfaction of expanding dual-earner couples and it’s influential variables. The sample consisted of 226 husbands and wives in dual-earner families living in Seoul. The data were analyzed by various satistical methods such as Frequency, Percentile, One-way analysis, t-test and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results of this research were as follows: 1. The level of marital satisfaction was higher for husbands than wives. 2. Husbands’marital satisfaction was significantly affected by husbands’age, husbands’sex role attitude, wives’occupation, flexibility of wives’work. 3. Wives’marital satisfaction was significantly affected by husbands’income, husbands’sex role attitude, husbands’participative times of household labor and wives’participative time of household labor.

부인의 취업유무와 직종에 따른 부부의 가사수행 (The Housework Sharing between Husbands and Wives With Special Reference to Wives' Jobs)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the housework sharing between husbands and wives with special reference to wives' jobs, Using couple data from a sample of 370 dual-earner couples and 250 husband-only employed couples multiple regression analysis was used. Major findings were as follows: 1) Husbands of the dual-earner couples participated in housework a little more than husbands of the husband-only employed couples did. 2) The husbands whose wives' jobs are office workers tended to share housework more than the husbands whose wives' jobs are professionals or blue collars did. 3) Among the variables which significantly affect housework sharing husbands' sex role attitude is the most influential factor and each partner's working hours a week has also significant effect. I suggested that more studies are needed to explore the relationship between the housework sharing and marital quality in order to identify and to lessen the stresses between husband and wife.
