  • Using data from 2011 Elderly Living Condition Survey database, this study analyzed risk factors for suicide ideation of Korean elderly persons. The analysis sample consists of 10,003 cases. The main purpose of this research was to explore the effects of social quality factor on suicide ideation of Korean elderly persons. Analysis results show that gender, age, area of residence, living alone, subjective standard of living, activities of daily living(ADLs), and geriatric depression are significant predictors of suicide ideation. Key findings are that social quality factor such as experiencing feeling hurt from others' words and actions like avoiding conversations, disregarding one's opinions, pretending to be not heard, getting irritated, grumbling, etc. has the largest effects on suicide ideation. Analysis results imply that without improving social quality, it would not be possible to lower elderly suicide rate.

Furthermore this survey was investigated in a way that participants who are not familiar with meditation activities could access this program without resistance. Also the characteristic points of this program are to be properly reconstructed and supplemented so that it can be applied without any limitations in schools. The satisfaction with color meditation program rather than the motivation of participation in it was determined to affect mental health. These results suggest that simply participating in color meditation program does not mean influencing mental health. The subjects of this study were 150 students of J City, K middle school. After completing the program, they were conducted post-test for both the experimental and control groups. The study found that the program was effective in mitigating smartphone addiction but not in reducing the directed life problem. It was also found to be effective in reducing tolerance and loss of control and problems of withdrawal and emotional experience. The study suggests that institutional arrangements are needed for linking with related organizations in the region because it is difficult to effectively prevent the increasing problem of smartphone addiction unless an adolescents program for youth is linked to the school. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct parent education for prevention of smartphone addiction in computer curriculum of school subjects.
