  • In this study, we investigated the use of liquid crystals to selectively detect the activity of enzymes at interfaces decorated with oligopeptide-based membranes. We prepared a mixed monolayer of tetra(ethylene glycol)-terminated lipids and carboxylic acid-terminated lipids at the aqueous-liquid crystal (LC) interface. The 17 amino-acid oligopeptide SNFKTIYDEANQFATYK was then immobilized onto this mixed monolayer through N-hydroxysuccinimide-activation of the carboxylic acid groups. We examined the orientational behavior of nematic 4-cyano-4'-pentylbiphenyl (5CB) after conjugation of the 17 amino-acid oligopeptide with the mixed monolayer assembled at the interface. Immobilization of the oligopeptide caused orientational transitions in 5CB, with a change from homeotropic (perpendicular) to tilted alignment, which was primarily due to the reorganization of the monolayer. The orientation of the 5CB molecules returned to its homeotropic state after contacting the interface containing ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin, which can cleave the immobilized oligopeptide. Control experiments confirmed that the enzymatic activity of ${\alpha}$-chymotrypsin triggered the ordering transitions in the LC. These results suggest that the LC can provide a facile method for selective detection of enzymatic activity.

  • With the development of ICT technology and the promotion of smartphone penetration, purchasing services that purchase various products through online market are being activated. In particular, due to advances in storage and delivery technology, sales of short food materials can be purchased online. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an integrated solution that enables advertisement effect, ordering and delivery through a purchase service even if there is no sales knowledge and sales network in a small shopping mall where only offline sales can be performed. The proposed system is able to efficiently view the product information by category through image search for the product that the user desires, so that the seller of the registered product can efficiently sell without any additional advertisement.

  • In this paper, an Rx-ordering aided sphere decoding algorithm for generalized spatial modulation (GSM) systems is proposed. In the proposed sphere decoding algorithm, to efficiently reduce the search region, the received signals are optimally ordered, which results in the reduction of computational complexity. To evaluate the performance and the computational complexity of the proposed Rx-ordered sphere decoding algorithm, the simulations are performed. In the simulation results, it is observed that in GSM systems, the proposed decoding algorithm achieves the same error performance with the conventional SD, whereas it efficiently decreases the computational complexity for symbol detection.

  • Aims: To investigate the incidence of ordering tests for tumor markers which are used in cancer diagnosis, follow-up treatment and detection of recurrence, the rate of elevation in benign diseases and which clinics order them frequently. Materials and Method: Data for the tumor markers carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cancer antigen 125 (CA 125), cancer antigen 15-3 (CA 15-3) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) that were ordered by all the clinics in our Hospital between 2010 and 2011 were screened. When excluding repeated orders the results of 3,416 patients were available. It has been determined that in which benign diseases were the tumor markers frequently ordered and which of these conditions had high levels of them. Results: CA 19-9 was ordered for 1,858 patients 191 (10.3%) were malignant while 1667 (89.7%) were ordered in benign diseases. For CEA the total was 1,710, 226 (13.2%) malignant and 1484 (86.8%) benign, and for CA 125 1267, 111 (8.8%) malignant and 1156 (91.2%) benign. AFP was ordered for 1687 cases, 80 (4.7%) malignant but 1607 (95.3%) benign. CA 15-3 was ordered 1449 times, 174 (12%) for malignant and 1275 (88%) for benign diseases. In all cases, considerable proportions were positive. Conclusions: It was shown that clinicians frequently order tumor markers for benign conditions. The findings of this study has shown that tumor markers are used widely without indications as cancer screening tests.

  • Spatial distributions of alloying elements of an Fe-based amorphous ribbon with a nominal composition of $Fe_{75}C_{11}Si_2B_8Cr_4$ were analyzed through the atom probe tomography method. The amorphous ribbon was prepared through the melt spinning method. The macroscopic amorphous natures were confirmed using an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). Atom Probe (Cameca LEAP 3000X HR) analyses were carried out in pulsed voltage mode at a specimen base temperature of about 60 K, a pulse to base voltage ratio of 15 %, and a pulse frequency of 200 kHz. The target detection rate was set to 5 ions per 1000 pulses. Based on a statistical analyses of the data obtained from the volume of $59{\times}59{\times}33nm^3$, homogeneous distributions of alloying elements in nano-scales were concluded. Even with high carbon and strong carbide forming element contents, nano-scale segregation zones of alloying elements were not detected within the Fe-based amorphous ribbon. However, the existence of small sub-nanometer scale clusters due to short range ordering cannot be completely excluded.

  • It is difficult and cumbersome to figure out whether a multithread program runs with concurrency bugs, such as data races and atomicity violations, because there are many possible executions of the program and a lot of the defects are hard to reproduce. Hence, monitoring techniques for collecting and analyzing the information from program execution, such as thread executions, memory accesses, and synchronization information, are important to locate data races for debugging multithread programs. This paper presents an efficient and practical monitoring tool, called VcTrace, that analyzes the partial ordering of concurrent threads and events during an execution of the program based on the vector clock system. Empirical results on C/C++ benchmarks using Pthreads show that VcTrace is a sound and practical tool for on-the-fly data race detection as well as for analyzing multithread programs.

  • We present a modeling of constraint satisfaction problems and provide heuristic algorithms of backtracking search to optimize the frequency assignment. Our research objective is to find a frequency assignment that satisfies all the constraints using minimum number of frequencies while maximizing the number of community radio stations served for a given area. In order to get a effective solution, some ordering heuristics such as variable orderings and value orderings are provided to minimize the backtracking in finding all solutions within a limited time. To complement the late detection of inconsistency in the backtracking, we provide the consistency enforcing technique or constraint propagation to eliminate the values that are inconsistent with some constraints. By integrating backtracking search algorithms with consistency enforcing techniques, it is possible to obtain more powerful and effective algorithms of constraint satisfaction problems. We also provide the performance evaluation of proposed algorithms by comparing the theoretical lower bound and our computed solution.

  • The heat treatment facility is in a situation where the scope of application of the remote IOT system is expanding due to the harsh environment caused by high heat and long working hours among the root industries. In this heat treatment process environment, the IOT middleware is required to play a pivotal role in interpreting, managing and controlling data information of IoT devices (sensors, etc.). Until now, the system controlled by the heat treatment remotely was operated with the command of the operator's batch system without overall monitoring of the site situation. However, for the safety and precise control of the heat treatment facility, it is necessary to control various sensors and recognize the surrounding work environment. As a solution to this, the heat treatment safety support system presented in this paper proposes a support system that can detect the access of the work manpower to the heat treatment furnace through thermal image detection and operate safely when ordering work from a remote location. In addition, an OPEN CV-based deterioration analysis system using DNN deep learning network was constructed for faster and more accurate recognition than general fixed hot spot monitoring-based thermal image analysis. Through this, we would like to propose a system that can be used universally in the heat treatment environment and support the safety management specialized in the heat treatment industry.
