  • The alignment design is one of the most influencing elements in earth work for the railway design. The amount of earth work mostly depends on the route, and the construction cost for railway construction largely depends on it. For this reason. it is necessary to develop a program for the construction cost estimation by route alternatives. This study introduces a program for the estimation of the earth work amount including the logics and the way to use.

  • The Core in Weapon system R&D is to realize the user required capabilities in limited schedule and cost. Therefore, the design of weapon system focuses to functional design for realization of requirement capabilities. However, the weapon system should not only basically bring the confidence to friendly forces bring fear to enemy forces to maximize the operational effectiveness of weapon systems and we consider the exterior design as the important factor to compete with foreign systems in international defense market besides capabilities and cost. For that reason, we made study case about the visual design decision process applied to the LVT(light tactical vehicle) project which was recent successful deployment among the many R&D projects of auto industry. Based on this case, this study suggests the necessity of the exterior design decision process the maneuver weapon system is developed.

  • The introduction of coffee business means adapting new culture more than coffee business itself as you see if from the trend of brand coffee stores in Korea now days. This 'new coffee culture' is popular among the adults from university students to business people and it has settled as a trend not only for drinking coffee but also for a place where they can take a rest and enjoy the culture. For that reason the elements which organize space to space takes great deal of weight in Marketing. Customers are looking for spaces such as business room, studying room, parkinglot, smoking area and also want comfortable seats and good atmosphere. It shows how important marketing is in Space design. Following study is to study about the key space design elements which is getting luxurious and individual in brand coffee stores. The aim of this essay is to broden variety and creativity of the space design in the market from now on.

  • Lighting is the single most important part of the design of a retail store. Good lighting can enhance a product's appearance, accentuate a special display, balance the visual elements of a store, and create the proper mood. In shops the lighting is required to draw the customer's attention to the goods help him to appraise them, and provide an atmosphere conducive to sales. The method will vary according to the types of good displayed, the form of trading, the design of the shop, and the class of customers expected. For the all reason, this study is focused on how the lighting design effects the customer's interest to the goods and intended to prescribe the possibilities of effective lighting design.

스티븐 홀의 감성적 디자인 방법론에 관한 연구 (A Study of Emotional Design Method of Steven Holl)

  • The subject of 'Emotional Design' is appeared recently as one of the important issues in design field. 'Emotion', which has been underestimated since Kant and should be reevaluated from now on, is one of the basic two elements with reason which constitutes human nature. The purpose of this study is to research emotional design method appeared in the works of Steven Holl who is considered one of the influencing architects because of his unique methodology in developing the emotional design. The results of this study are as follows; 1) Emotional aspects were implied in his concepts by the way of emphasis on phenomenology in dealing with question of perception. 2) Emotional aspects were interwoven in his form and space as related to his concept. 3) Emotional aspects were shown in his way of developing his ideas with water coloring, in deriving his concept from other genre(especially from literature) and in the articulation of details. As a result, his unique way of implying emotional aspects which is coming from in-depth research of human nature as well as his own instinct were all interwoven in concept, form, and space together as a total way of thinking.

자동차용 휠의 응력을 고려한 근사 최적 설계 (Approximate Optimization Design Considering Automotive Wheel Stress)

  • The automobile is an important means of transportation. For this reason, the automotive wheel is also an important component in the automotive industry because it acts as a load support and is closely related to safety. Thus, the wheel design is a very important safety aspect. In this paper, an optimal design for minimizing automotive wheel stress and increasing wheel safety is described. To study the optimal design, a central composite design (CCD) and D-optimal design theory are applied, and the approximate function using the response surface method (RSM) is generated. The optimal solutions using the non-dominant sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) are then derived. Comparing CCD and D-optimal solution accuracy and verified the CCD can deduce more accuracy optimal solutions.

  • In general, engineers have to consider a variety of factors in design of a structure. For this reason, it was difficult to make a design program up to now. But the rapid development of hardware and software turns it into a possibile one with considering complex factors and designing simple structures. When we use the design program including structural analysis, we can save time and cost to make calculations; report and drawing. In addition, the design program was developed to reduce the man made errors. Therefore, in this study, we try to develope the design program of the superstructure of P.S.C girder bridge and abutment. This program will provide engineers with time that they can spend on a creative and efficiency task for development of design.

Characteristic Analysis and Design of a Single Phase Switched Reluctance Motor for High Speed Application

  • Switched reluctance motors have received much attention as a driving means for various industrial applications because they have simple construction, low cost and high efficiency. Nevertheless, the requirements of drive converters make it difficult to lower the overall system cost as compared with the DC motor application. Single phase switched reluctance motors (SPSRMs) provide a solution to the high cost problem since the number of switching power devices can be reduced and consequently the trials for application are increased. However, research involving SPSRMs, especially in the area of design work, is insufficient. This paper introduces a novel design methodology of single phase SRM. The design work for SPSRM comprises the determination of many variables such as stator and rotor pole arc as well as on, off and so on. Managing all variable combinations leads to lengthy computation time and a fault in the design process. For that reason, a reliable technique and brief procedure term are required in SPSRM design.

  • Thin Film Transistor (TFT) manufacturing process is complicated. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) occurs during every process step. This paper describes ESD phenomena in terms of TFT design and processing flow. The abnormal contact between equipment and glass is found out to be the key reason causing ESD.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the work scope of architects who work for Alessi and their application of design elements in various fields of design. Urban Design, Architectural Design and interior design are interrelated. Thus the designers should have various design experiences for expanding their knowledge of their specialty. These experiences can help not only the university students who will be designers in the future get creative concept, but also architects and interior designers develop their abilities to look at design. As a result, their society competitiveness can be increased. For this reason, this study selects eleven architects who participated in Tea & Coffee set project of Alessi. This study researches how their design elements apply to various design areas and investigates architects's activities not only in their major fields, but also in other design fields. The result of this study is that architects participates in all design fields, except automobile design which is not related to architecture. Especially, among various design areas, architects are likely to participate in architectural design, interior design, and furniture design Contrary to this, they hardly participate in bathroom. Also, one design element applies to various design areas, such as construction, furniture, accessories, and so on.
