  • In this paper we present a second order PVT (parallel variable transformation) algorithm converging to second order stationary points for minimizing smooth functions, based on the first order PVT algorithm due to Fukushima (1998). The corresponding stopping criterion, descent condition and descent step for the second order PVT algorithm are given.

  • In this paper, we propose a new conjugate gradient method for solving unconstrained optimization models. By using exact and strong Wolfe line searches, the proposed method possesses the sufficient descent condition and global convergence properties. Numerical results show that the proposed method is efficient at small, medium, and large dimensions for the given test functions. In addition, the proposed method was applied to solve practical application problems in portfolio selection.

  • An iterative learning control scheme is incorporated to the computed torque method as a means to enhance the accuracy and the flexibility. A learning rule is constructed by utilizing a gradient descent algorithm and data compressing techniques are illustrated. Computer simulation results show a good performance of the scheme under a relatively high speed and a heavy payload condition.

  • When a plume flow exhausted from a lunar lander descent engine impinges on the lunar surface, regolith particles on the lunar surface will be dispersed due to a plume-surface interaction. If the dispersed particles collide with the lunar lander, some adverse effects such as a performance degradation can be caused. Thus, this study tried to predict the plume flow behaviors using the CFD methods. A nozzle inside region was analyzed by a continuum flow model based on the Navier-Stokes equations while the plume behaviors of the outside nozzle was performed by comparing and analyzing the individual results using the continuum flow model and the DSMC method. As a result, it was possible to establish an optimum procedure of the plume analysis for the lunar lander descent engine in the vacuum condition. In the future, it is expected to utilize the present results for the development of the Korean lunar lander.

  • This paper presents a new state feedback control approach for communication networks based control systems in which control input and output observation time-delay natures are generally occurred in practice. We first establish a generic state feedback control framework based on well-known linear system theory. A maximum time-delay value which allows critical stability of whole control system are defined to make a positive definite Lyapunov function which is mathematically composed of controlled system states. We analytically derive its control parameters by using a steepest descent optimization method in order to guarantee a stability condition through Lyapunov theory. Computer simulation is numerically carried out for demonstrating reliability of the proposed NCS algorithm and a comparative study is accomplished to prove its superiority for which the traditional control approach for NCS is made use of under same simulation scenarios.

An Investigation of the Effect of the Height of Wteps on the Joint Moment of Lower Extremities of the Elderly While Walking Downstairs (노인의 계단 내려가기 동작 시 계단 높이와 하지 관절 모멘트와의 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of changing the steps height on the joint moment of lower extremity in stair-descent activity of elderly persons. Data were collected by 3-D cinematography and force platform. 9 male elderly subjects in the 60s and 70s participated in this study. All subjects performed a stair-descent in four different heights of stairs (10, 14, 18, 22cm) having 5 step staircase. The results were as follows. 1. For the step height of 22cm the maximum. plantarflexion moment was the smallest and the largest for the step height of 14cm. 2. There was not a statistical difference shown for the extension moment of the knee joint for the different height of steps. 3. There was not a statistical difference shown for the flexion moment of the hip joint for the varying height of steps but on average for the 18cm step this increased rapidly. 4. The smallest maximum. value for inversion moment was revealed for the step height of 10cm and this increased significantly for the step height of 22cm. 5. The smallest maximum. value for abduction moment of the hip joint was revealed for the step height of 10cm and this increased significantly for the step height of 22cm. 6. There was no significant difference shown for the maximum. abduction moment for the hip joint. The main conclusion is that there is a huge difference in the moment of the lower extremities for the elderly while walking down a stairs with a step height above 18 cm and that this moment increased or decreased rapidly under a condition of step height being 22cm. With the results from this research and related research of elderly walking upstairs it can be shown that the step height has a large role in the safety for the elderly.

Measurement of the Flow Field Around a Quadcopter in Vertical Descending Flight (수직 하강 비행 조건에서의 쿼드콥터 주위의 유동장 계측)

  • The vortex ring state that occurs during the descending flight of a rotorcraft generates a circulating flow like a donut near the rotating surface, and it often causes a rotorcraft fall due to loss of thrust. In this paper, we have physically identified the flow field in the vortex ring state of the quadcopter, one of the types of unmanned aerial vehicles. The descending flight of the quadcopter was simulated in a 1m subsonic wind tunnel of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI) and the Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) was used for the flow field measurement. The induced velocity in the hovering state is estimated by using the momentum theory and the test was carried out in the range of descent rate at which the vortex ring condition could be caused. The development and the direction of the vortex ring were confirmed by the measurement of the flow field according to not only the descent rate but also propeller separation distance. In addition, the results of the study show the vortex ring state can be predicted sufficiently by measuring the flow velocity around the quadcopter.

New Fuzzy Inference System Using a Kernel-based Method

  • In this paper, we proposes a new fuzzy inference system for modeling nonlinear systems given input and output data. In the suggested fuzzy inference system, the number of fuzzy rules and parameter values of membership functions are automatically decided by using the kernel-based method. The kernel-based method individually performs linear transformation and kernel mapping. Linear transformation projects input space into linearly transformed input space. Kernel mapping projects linearly transformed input space into high dimensional feature space. The structure of the proposed fuzzy inference system is equal to a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model whose input variables are weighted linear combinations of input variables. In addition, the number of fuzzy rules can be reduced under the condition of optimizing a given criterion by adjusting linear transformation matrix and parameter values of kernel functions using the gradient descent method. Once a structure is selected, coefficients in consequent part are determined by the least square method. Simulated result illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed technique.

It prevented an energy curtailment in the same time when it raises air cooling efficiency, It gathered it restricted the underground space which is comfortable in the use citizen and and and service it did interface the electromotive car and PSD entrance and exit literature course from the manual operation segment to sleep technically optimizationt. It researched a minute dust diffusion.
