A 69-year old female stroke patient was admitted on August 7, 1998. She had seborrheic dermatitis on her lower abdomen for 25 years. The patient received many treatments but was unable to find a cure. During her hospitalization for stroke, the patient had trouble sleeping. The doctors hypothesized the dermatitis to be the cause of the sleeping disorder and attempted to treat it. The doctors chose Hwangyeonhaedog-tang Gagambang for treatment and smeared it on the patient's abdomen. After ten days of treatment, the dermatitis disappeared and did not reoccur. The patient's abdomen continued to show no symptoms of dermatitis after being released for 2 years.

Objective : This study reports the effect of Kyejiinsam-tang on Atopic Dermatitis. Methods : This is a case report on a patient who has been suffering from Atopic Dermatitis. According to Diagnostic system based on Shanghanlun provisions, Kyejiinsam-tang was provided for 250 days. The severity of Atopic Dermatitis was evaluated by SCORAD index and pictures. Results : When analyzing the patient's history and symptoms, it can be found in article No. 163 in Shanghanlun. The area and intensity of Atopic Dermatitis were reduced when viewed photos findings, and SCORAD index decreased 58.1 to 7.1. So diagnosis and therapies showed valid results in Atopic Dermatitis. Conclusions : Kyejiinsam-tang is efficient to patient of this case report as a treatment.

objective The purpose of this case report is to review the possibility of utilizing Jeokseokji-uyeoryang-tang as a therapy of seborrheic dermatitis, and to consider clinical using possibility of Shanghanlun.method Patient's Diagnosis and progress of seborrheic dermatitis was evaluated based on the patient's chart and picture. And diagnosis based on Shanghanlun was organized by table.results When analyzing the patient's history and symptoms, it can be found in article No. 159 in Shanghanlun. Objectives The purpose of this case study was to report the main effect of Yangdokbaekho-tang to a Soyangin atopic dermatitis patient. Methods This patient was treated by Yangdokbaekho-tang, topical herbal extract, moxa and acupuncture according to the result of Sasang constitutional diagnosis. Results and Conclusions The patient's subjective symptoms of atopic dermatitis and general condition were improved after using Yangdokbaekho-tang in spite of patient's loose stool. The SCORAD index (Scoring Atopic Dermatitis Severity Index) which was used to evaluate the therapeutic effect of Sasang constitutional treatment on atopic dermatitis was also decreased from 86.3 to 42.8 without using anti-histamine or steroid medications.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to design a standardized questionnaire for patients with atopic dermatitis in oriental dermatology. Methods: We selected atopic dermatitis from the evaluation of students' satisfaction conducted by the Department of Oriental Dermatology, Dong-guk University College of Oriental Medicine in 2011. To design the questionnaire for atopic dermatitis, we made up descriptive materials consisting of history of the present illness, patient risk factors, past medical history, personal history, and physical examination. Results: Standardized patients (SP) were used in teaching and practicing interviewing and physical examination skills for students. The SP offers a readily available tool for teaching and evaluating the clinical performance and interpersonal skills of medical students. However, the SP program needs to be more thoroughly researched and developed. Research of pattern identification in atopic dermatitis is needed to design the questionnaire. Conclusions: Using an SP program is strongly recommended to teach and evaluate in oriental medicine clinical clerkships.

Objectives : This study is desinged in order to evaluate the Poison extraction method for the Atopic dermatitis. Methods : The authors observed the two cases of Atopic dermatitis patients who previously used steroid-based ointment. for treating the Poison Extraction Method. Conclusions : 1. In case 1, the patient with mild case of Atopic dermatitis in face is treated with the Poison extraction method. Rash symptoms intensed for first few days. As sweating appeared in the local area from the seventh day, all the symptoms was disappeared rapidly. No recurrence was found. 2. In case 2, the patient with severe case of Atopic dermatitis in whole body is treated with the Poison extraction method. The symptoms intensed after two months and all the symptoms of itchiness, rash, scaly letter dissapeared in the third and fourth months. No recurrence was found. 3. In both cases of mild and severe cases of Atopic dermatitis. all the symptoms were disappeared and no recurrence was found with the Poison Extraction Method.

Objectives This study is to report a significant improvement in a Taeeumin patient with systemic contact dermatitis after eating urushiol chicken by herbal medicine treatment. Methods The patient had complaints of erythema, swelling, pruritus, scaly skin, and facial flushing. We treated the patient with an herbal medicine 'Galgeunhaegi-tang' for three months. We evaluated the treatment outcome of systemic contact dermatitis using the Three Item Severity(TIS) score every visit and facial flushing by Image color summarizer at the first and last visit. Results After the treatment, the severity of the patient's skin complaints lessened from moderate to mild. The Image color summarizer showed a minor decrease in the normalized red color level and a significant increase in the brightness level and facial color percentage. Conclusions The patient diagnosed with systemic contact dermatitis, treated with Galgeunhaegi-tang for three months, showed a significant improvement in skin complaints with brighter and even facial color.

1. Objectives This study is about a Soeumin Atopic Dermatitis Patient. In this study, we report the effects of Sasang constitutional treatment to this patient. 2. Methods This patient was treated by Soeumin's constitutional medications and acupunture according to the result of Sasang constitutional diagnosis. 3. Results and Conclusions This patient's chief complaints were edema, palule, erythema, squama and pruritus. By using Gwakhyangjeonggi-san, she showed positive response about her symptom. This study shows that Gwakhyangjeonggi-san has effect to Atopic Dermatitis in Soeumin.

This study aims to report a case of facial dermatitis herpetiformis with allergy diseases improved by administration of Mahaengeuigam-tang (Maxingyigan-tang). Multiple blisters appeared on the patient's face, Erythema, papules, and scales were also observed on the neck, back, and knee areas of the patient. The patient has had cough, sputum, and dyspnea symptoms since she was 5-6 months old. After diagnosing the patient's condition as dermatitis herpetiformis, atopic dermatitis, and bronchial asthma through history taking and symptom observation, Mahaengeuigam-tang (Maxingyigan-tang) was prescribed for about 30 days. As a result of evaluation through our own criteria, dermatitis herpetiformis symptoms improved from 18 to 2 points. Atopic dermatitis and asthma symptoms also decreased from 12 to 0 and 20 to 3 points, respectively. Since this study has proven the efficacy of Mahaengeuigam-tang (Maxingyigan-tang) for dermatitis herpetiformis patient, this prescription may be fully utilized as the treatment for other inflammatory skin diseases.

Objective : The purpose of this paper is to analyze the difference between Baekho-tang(白虎湯) and Baekhogainsam-tang (白虎加人蔘湯). Methods : We compared the effect of Baekho-tang on atopic dermatitis and the effect of Baekhogainsam-tang on allergic contact dermatitis. We focused on the level of thirst. Results : After the Baekho-tang treatment, the SCORAD of atopic dermatitis patient decreased $63.8{\rightarrow}4.3$ and VAS of pruritus on atopic dermatitis patient were improved $8{\rightarrow}2$ respectively. Meanwhile, after the Baekhogainsam-tang treatment, the VAS of pruritus on allergic contact dermatitis patient was improved $7{\rightarrow}2$ and the thirst of the patient improved. Conclusions : There is a difference between Baekho-tang and Baekhogainsam-tang at the level of thirst. Baekhogainsam-tang continues to thirst hard enough to find water.
