A Prospect of the Future Power System Configuration with 22kV Class Superconducting Cable (22kV급 초전도 케이블을 이용한 미래 전력계통 구성 방안 고찰)

  • As power demand increases gradually, the call for underground transmission system increases. But it is very difficult and high in cost to construct new ducts and/or tunnels for power cables in metropolitan areas. HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) cable has the several useful characteristics such as increased power density. Therefore HTS cable can allow more power to be moved in existing ducts, which means very large economical and environmental benefits. In this paper, we investigate the status of korean power system and underground transmission system. Based on this, the feasibility study on applying 22kV class HTS cable to korean power system is carried out and then we propose the new power system configuration of metropolitan area with 22kV class HTS cable.

In this paper, we carried out investigation for Application of 22kV class HTS cable in Korean utility networks. The results show that the HTS cable is applicable to replace IPB in pumping-up power plant, withdrawal line in distributed generation, withdrawal line in complex power plant, and conventional under ground cable. Finally, as the cost of HTS wire and refrigeration drops, the technical and economical potential of HTS cable is evaluated positively.

  • As electric power transmission systems grow to supply the increasing electric power demand, transmission capacity is larger. but that's really difficult to secure the location for power transmission and distribution to user. The high temperature superconducting(HTS) cable is a method to solve this problem. But for applying to real systems, it needs to investigate the effect of HTS cable. The most important things is the investigation of fault condition. the fault on HTS cable include the quench state. When a fault occur in a circuit, three critical parameters(temperature, current density, magnetic field) exist. when one of these parameters exceeds the critical value, the superconducting becomes normal-conducting. f the cooling power is insufficient to recover the superconducting state, the normal-conducting zone expands. In order to solve these problem, this paper present simulate the quench state considering the over-current and over-voltage in the informal circuit and analyze the quench state.

  • In this letter, we consider a directional routing protocol that reduces the duplicated packets for AODV-based flooding in the course of establishing the end-to-end route in the multi-hop maritime ad-hoc networks. We propose an adaptive means of reducing the routing overhead subject to the node density and the target probability of successful routing that is analyzed by the stochastic geometry.

  • To improve safety operation of urban transit, compatible design of signaling system is most important factor at future train operation and management. Therefore, signaling system should be designed compatible transport demand of target year. In addition, signaling system should be designed improved train safety, based fail-safe principle. Most of all, to solve passenger concentration, high density and to improve efficiency of train operation. Headway improvement of train is most important. Train organization length of new urban transit as light rail is generally shorter than EMU. Therefore, to increase passenger service and operation efficiency, minimum headway of one minute in this system should be important required.

  • We investigated the fire characteristics of the subway electric car's interior materials and evaluated the safety of it. The testing methods are ISO 4589-2 for Limited Oxygen Index, ISO 5658-2 for surface flame spread, ISO 5660-1 for Heat Release Rate, ASTM E 662 for smoke density and BS 6852 Annex B.2 for gas toxicity. The materials of seven organization including KNR were tested. Most of the materials are under the levels of the foreign country's demand. We also reported the test methods of other countries and compared it to ours.

  • It is known that cement production not only consumes large amount of energy but also contributes substantially to the green house gas emission. Therefore, there is a demand to develope a new technology to produce energy efficient and environmental conscious cements. The most recent, wood wool ceramic board is being applied in various building material field, for example thermal insulating and acoustic absorption material. This paper focused on improvement of the physical properties for wood wool ceramic board applied inorganic polymer binder. As the result of this experiment, what we could obtain better wood wool ceramic board's properties such as density, water contests, water resistance and band strength, was 0.46, $10{\sim}12%$, 1.9% and $40kgf/cm^2$. This result can be applicable to commercial wood wool ceramic board.

  • Dome structure to form a space-efficient, applied a lot of beautiful buildings with structural systems, as well as a large space structure in the form of new residential lots have been applied. And domestic demand for housing in the dome with increasing dome house using various materials, are becoming commonplace. But now the Dome House is mainly used in construction steel, wood, stone, FRP construction and building materials per unit area and the high cost, long construction time, energy efficiency, has some disadvantages such as degradation. And structural strength of the structure is weak, the natural ingredients used come from natural damage is so big. In addition, demolition of buildings in trouble when handling the environmental problems has emerged. Recently expanded polystyrene to improve these problems by using the various approaches and research is being attempted and there.

  • It is required to response to the demand for new space due to high density of population and buildings in urban area. In particular, in case of big cities such as Seoul where the lack of new construction site due to the depletion of available space, existing buildings must be demolished for new construction. Utilization of urban underground space can be an alternative to solve for urban space problems. There are applications of underpinning methods using micropiles for existing buildings. Sometimes, the difficulties come from the compact space available for new foundation underneath the existing ones. In this paper, a novel underpinning method is introduced which can solve the space restriction problems underneath existing columns.

  • To cope with increasing power demand in metropolitan area, the power system in Korea has equipped with unit generator of large capacity, high density and uneven distribution, and transmission line of long distance, large capacity and high voltage. As the power system growing up enormous, it has become difficult to maintain the standard voltage in case of radical fluctuation of load or severe change of voltage by power system fault for its weakness of responsive characteristics although the power condenser has been installed to solve the unstability by lack of reactive power. Consequently, we review harmonic wave production and control characteristics to solve unstability problem of voltage in northern metropolitan, to reduce transmission restriction cost and to minimize load shedding by relocation of SVC (Static Var Compensator), which is highly effective for improvement of responsive characteristics for radical voltage fluctuation.
