  • We present near-IR imaging polarimetry of the observed $5{\times}9$ fields (${\sim}39'{\times}69'$) in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), using the InfraRed Survey Facility (IRSF). We obtained polarimetry data in J, H, and Ks bands using the JHKs-simultaneous imaging polarimeter SIRPOL. We measured Stokes parameters of point-like sources to derive the degree of polarization and the polarization position angle. We show a polarization vector map in the reduced 45 fields and the statistical distribution of the polarization degrees and angles. This poster presents the preliminary results to show the physical properties of the magnetic field in the observed LMC regions.

  • In this paper, we analyze the effect of imperfect power control on the capacity of the reverse channel in CDMA cellular system with antenna arrays in the base station. For imperfect power control, we assume that the received power at the base station from the users within each cell has log-normal distribution, and we also consider the effect of imperfect power control of co-channel interferences which arise from both its own cell and outer cells. From the result of numerical analysis, we show that the degree of power control gives a great influence on the capacity of CDMA celluar system with antenna arrays, and also that antenna arrays at the base station can improve greatly the system capacity even when the power control is imperfect.

  • We reported that hot electron phenomena in submicron nMOSFET by Monte Carlo method. In order to predict the influence of the hot electron effects on the device reliability, either simple analytical model or a complete two dimensional numerical simulation has been adopted. Results of numerical simulation, based on the static mobility model, may be inaccurate when gate length of MOSFET is scaled down to less than 1um. Most of device simulation packages utilize the static nobility model. Monte Carlo method based on stochastic analysis of carrier movement may be a powerful tool to characterize hot electrons. In this work, energy and velocity distribution of carriers were obtained to predict the relative degree of short channel effects for different device parameters. Our analysis shows a few interesting results when $V_{ds}$ is 5 volt, average electron energy does not increase with gate bias as evidenced by substrate current.

  • A speech that play a part of important mediation in the man's conversation is the sound of representation to man's emotion and thought, then voice sound could be verified and identified a speaker's speech by individual property. This study indicates as distribution of pitch in searching for sample number of each pitch with eye in the sound waveform of speaker. We propose the algorithm that judge speaker's emotion state, personality, regional group, age, sex distinction, e.t.c., according to the deviation degree.

  • Properties of flashover in polymer insulators are very important under pollution environments. It is necessary to analyse flashover characteristics whether insulators are still safe or not. A lot of precious information can be got out of polluted polymer insulators through leakage current measurement. The behavior of partial arc discharge leads to flashover directly. It is possible to measure partial arc discharge as leakage current pulses analysis. The shape of histogram reflects degree of pollution, wetting and voltage stress level. It can be expressed by Weibull distribution function.

  • A radiological safety assessment was performed for a hypothetical near-surface radioactive waste repository as a simple screening calculation to identify important nuclides and to provide insights on the data needs for a successful demonstration of compliance. Individual effective doses were calculated for a conservative ground water pathway scenario considering well drilling near the site boundary. Sensitivity of resulting ingestion dose to input parameter values was also analyzed using Monte Carlo sampling. Considering peak dose rate and assessment time scale, C-14 and T-129 were identified as important nuclides and U-235 and U-238 as potentially important nuclides. For C-14, the dose was most sensitive to Darcy velocity in aquifer The distribution coefficient showed high degree of sensitivity for I-129 release.

  • This paper reports the characteristics of the three dimensional turbulent flow by numerical method in the 180 degree bends with increasing cross-sectional area. Calculated pressure and velocity, Reynolds stress distributions are compared to the experimental data. Turbulence model employed are low Reynolds number $textsc{k}$-$\varepsilon$ model and algebraic stress model(ASM). The results show that the main vortex generated from the inlet part of the bend maintained to outlet of the bend and vortices are continually developed at the inner wall region. The distribution of turbulent kinetic energy along the bend are increase up to 120$^{\circ}$ because of increment of cross-sectional area. Secondary flow strength of the flow is lower about 60% than that of square duct flow.

  • It is shown that polarization singularities of a new type, namely U and P singularities, arise at the transverse cross section of a partially coherent beam, instead of the common singularities such as C points and L lines in a completely coherent vector field. A relationship between the two kind of singularities with respect to intensity is proposed. We also present a setup that can generate the new singularities, and any desired distribution of degree of polarization, using intensity control.

  • Accurate evaluation of polarization characteristics in the integrated optic chip (IOC) for interferometric fiber optic gyroscope was performed. Spatial distribution of optical wavetrains caused by the polarization parameters such as local polarization cross-coupling and polarization rejection coefficient of the IOC were measured utilizing the path-matched optical coherence domain polarimetry (PM-OCDP). With the analytic model deduced from Jones matrix representation, we could accurately identify the polarization characteristics of the IOC. Both degree of measurement error due to the imperfect equipment conditions in PM-OCDP and birefringence of IOC chip were also characterized.
