  • The paper is to analyze multi-attributes for expanding new renewable energy in agricultural sectors which have environmental, technical, economic, and social factors consisting of 15 attributes which have both positive and negative impacts. We applied the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to data from opinion polls. As a result of the AHP survey, the overall results indicate that the respondents more weight on economical factor than environmental, technical, and social factors for expanding new renewable energy. At the lowest level, a comparison of individual 15 attributes within three factors shows that fixed cost highest in multi-attributes, followed by operating cost, technical superiority. To achieve the public acceptance about expanding new renewable energy in agricultural sectors, the policy-makers should take all relevant factors into account through the decision-making process by the public opinions.

  • The goal of this study is the derivation of priority for business in the areas of green energy technologies. In this paper, we calculated the importance weights of impact factors using the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method in order to derivation of priority to the green energy technologies business. AHP is a useful method for evaluating multi-criteria decision making problems. To apply the AHP method, specialists for the assessment have been identified by using the concept of 'plan, do, see' and the decision-making hierarchy was established. We selected 5 criteria and 16 sub-criteria for impact factors by brainstorming. According to the result in this study, the most important impact factor is the possibility of commercialization, the second is the possibility of developing the fundamental technology, and the third is the possibility of convergence technology.

  • The importance of maritime sector in Korea has been increasingly recognized in recent days. As the country enters the $\ulcorner$new ocean era$\lrcorner$, the oceans are often regarded as holding the keys to solve the problems of modern industry associated with changing environment as well as changing societies and national politics. This paper attempts to address the national maritime R&D policies and their relative importances. In the methodology, Saaty's analytic hierarchy process model is used to evaluate and rank the selected maritime R&D projects which have a wide range of characteristics and policy implications. The criteria used for policy evaluation relates specifically to the Korea's evaluation needs and culture, and those criteria are weighted according to their relative importance as perceived by the maritime R&D specialists.

  • In many engineering applications, the final decision is based on the evaluation of a number of alternatives in terms of a number of criteria. This problem may become very intricate when the selection criteria are expressed in terms of different units or the pertinent data are difficult to be quantified. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is an effective way in dealing with such kind of complicated problems. Cotton fiber is selected or graded, in the spinning industries, based on several quality criteria. However, the existing selection or grading method based on Fiber quality Index (FqI) is rather crude and ambiguous. This paper presents a novel approach of cotton fiber selection using the AHP methodology of Multi Criteria Decision Making.

  • It is important to evaluate the performance of candidates mathematically from various aspects, and reflect it on decision making. In decision making, we judge the candidates through two steps, classification of objects and comparison of objects or candidates with plural elements. In the former step, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is useful method to evaluate candidates from plural viewpoints, and in the later step, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is also useful method to evaluate candidates with plural categorized data. In fact, each candidate has plural elements, nevertheless it has been more important to evaluate from various aspects in IT society. So, we propose a new procedure complementing AHP with DEA.

  • This paper proposes an application methodology of AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) based decision making theory for improvement priority by assessment of various risk factors affecting on deterioration of water supply systems, as major social infrastructure. AHP method is organized with three level of hierarchy which is introduced for multi-criteria decision making in this study. In the first level, assessment outputs are calculated by AHP for each affecting factor. In the second level, criteria are estimated by using assessment results with respect to structural and environmental factors. Consequently, ranking decision is performed in the third level. In order to present the effectiveness, a proposed method is compared with FCP(Fuzzy Composite Programming) for decision making. Since the results of the proposed method show better performance with consistent results, it can be applied as an efficient information for the determination for improvement priority of the study infrastructure.

  • Multiple attribute for decision making including user preference will increase the complexity of route selection process. Various approaches have been proposed to solve the optimal route selection problem. In this paper, multi attribute decision making (MADM) algorithms such as Simple Additive Weighting (SAW), Weighted Product Method (WPM), Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and Total Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) methods have been proposed for acoustic signature based optimal route selection to facilitate user with better quality of service. The traffic density state conditions (very low, low, below medium, medium, above medium, high and very high) on the road segment is the occurrence and mixture weightings of traffic noise signals (Tyre, Engine, Air Turbulence, Exhaust, and Honks etc) is considered as one of the attribute in decision making process. The short-term spectral envelope features of the cumulative acoustic signals are extracted using Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Classifier (ANFC) is used to model seven traffic density states. Simple point method and AHP has been used for calculation of weights of decision parameters. Numerical results show that WPM, AHP and TOPSIS provide similar performance.

  • The purpose of this paper is to reorganize cost adjustment factors of software development projects in estimating software development cost, and derive adjustment coefficients of application types and language types by analytical hierarchy process. We constructed a decision-making hierarchy of various criteria which determine the complexity of application types and language types, and conducted a survey on the pairwise comparison among alternatives. Finally, the cost adjustment coefficients of application types and language types were derived by analytic hierarchy process. This paper is the first study in which the analytic hierarchy process was applied to the field of estimating cost adjustment factors of software development projects.
