  • The study aim was to investigate changes in the diameter, number of standing trees, stand volume per ha and site index by the forest survey order, climate zone (northern temperate, central temperate, southern temperate, and warm temperate regions), and altitude in 100 m intervals) by collecting samples of Robinia pseudoacacia from the fifth, sixth, and seventh national forest survey datasets. The rotation cutting age, which is a standard used for wood, was calculated. The changes were statistically analyzed by performing ANOVA and the Duncan multiple test. Diameter growth naturally increased according to the forest survey order and was lowest in the southern temperate region by climate zone and lowest at the 301-400 m altitude. The number of standing trees per ha did not change according to the forest survey order and altitude, and the density was highest in the central temperate region and lowest in the southern temperate region. The stand volume per ha increased according to the forest survey order, and the climate zone was divided into two groups: ① northern temperate region and central temperate region, ② southern temperate region and warm temperate region. The stand volume growth was highest at the 201-300 m point. Thesite index showed results similar to the change pattern of the stand volume per ha. The growth curve, which can be seen by the change in stand volume per ha, was estimated by applying theWeibull formula, and the stand volume per ha was estimated to reach approximately 200 m3/ha at 50-60 years. The rotation of the highest production in volume, which is the standard for using trees as wood rather than honey sources, was calculated to be 34 years.

  • A case study of monitoring and analysis of surface settlement induced by tunneling of Tabriz metro line 2 (TML2) is presented in this paper. The TML2 single tunnel has been excavated using earth pressure balanced TBM with a cutting-wheel diameter of 9.49 m since 2015. Presented measurements of surface settlements, were collected during the construction of western part of the project (between west depot and S02 station) where the tunnel was being excavated in sand and silt, below the water table and at an average axis depth of about 16 m. Settlement readings were back-analyzed using Gaussian formula, both in longitudinal and transversal directions, in order to estimate volume loss and settlement trough width factor. In addition to settlements, face support and tail grouting pressures were monitored, providing a comprehensive description of the EPB performance. Using the gap model, volume loss prediction was carried out. Also, COB empirical method for determination of the face pressure was employed in order to compare with field monitored data. Likewise, FE simulation was used in various sections employing the code Simulia ABAQUS, to investigate the efficiency of numerical modelling for the estimating of the tunneling induced-surface settlements under such a geotechnical condition. In this regard, the main aspects of a mechanized excavation were simulated. For the studied sections, numerical simulation is not capable of reproducing the high values of in-situ-measured surface settlements, applying Mohr-Coulomb constitutive law for soil. Based on results, for the mentioned case study, the range of estimated volume loss mostly varies from 0.2% to 0.7%, having an average value of 0.45%.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to clarify the daily dose and uses of Goju-tang in Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases. Methods : We compared major editions of Treatise on Cold Damage Diseases with the original text of Supplement to the Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold and chose the most appropriate text. If none of the existing texts seemed reasonable, We compared texts item by item. When there is nothing adequate even item by item, it was newly modified. These results were compared with currently distributed Pinellia Tuber and standards of eggs. Results : Goju-tang consisted of Goju(vinegar), Pinellia Tuber and an eggshell. Generally, a daily dose was extracted at once and taken 3 times a day, but in Goju-tang, 4 pieces of Pinellia Tuber and one-third Sheong of Goju(solvent) were used, which were one third of average volume. Pinellia Tuber was used cut in small pieces. And it was boiled gradually by low heat. Goju was mainly to reduce the pungency of Pinellia Tuber by cutting raphides of calcium oxalate. The Pot preparing medicines was eggshell which was chosen by its small size, because the volume of Pinellia Tuber and Goju was one-third of average volume. Since an egg shell is consisted of protein, it didn't react with vinegar(Goju). Conclusions : The 4 pieces of Pinellia Tuber and one-third Sheong of Goju(Vinegar) in the Goju-tang were one-third of average dose, and the eggshell was Pot preparing medicines.

  • In order to understand the growth percentage of red pine, author had 207 trees cut and made stem analysis on them and there by studied and analysed volume growth percentage, bark volume percentage, diameter growth percentage and the relation between diameter growth percentage and volume growth percentage and so forth. The result was as follows. 1. The volume growth percentage decreased as the age class increased and it was about 3% at the cutting age. 2. Bark volume percentage was about 5~15% and it seemed to be about constant irrespective of the age class. 3. The diameter growth percentage gradually decreased as the age class increased and it would be constant from a certain age class on. 4. As for the relation between the diameter growth percentage and volume growth percentage, the correlation ratio showed to increase with the age class increase generally the value of b was between 2.0~3.6.

  • This paper proposed a method to separate a liver into left and right liver lobes for simple and exact volumetry of the river graft at abdominal MDCT(Multi-Detector Computed Tomography) image before the living donor liver transplantation. A medical team can evaluate an accurate river graft with minimized interaction between the team and a system using this algorithm for ensuring donor's and recipient's safe. On the image of segmented liver, 2 points(PMHV: a point in Middle Hepatic Vein and PPV: a point at the beginning of right branch of Portal Vein) are selected to separate a liver into left and right liver lobes. Middle hepatic vein is automatically segmented using PMHV, and the cutting line is decided on the basis of segmented Middle Hepatic Vein. A liver is separated on connecting the cutting line and PPV. The volume and ratio of the river graft are estimated. The volume estimated using 2 points are compared with a manual volume that diagnostic radiologist processed and estimated and the weight measured during surgery to support proof of exact volume. The mean ${\pm}$ standard deviation of the differences between the actual weights and the estimated volumes was $162.38cm^3{\pm}124.39$ in the case of manual segmentation and $107.69cm^3{\pm}97.24$ in the case of 2 points method. The correlation coefficient between the actual weight and the manually estimated volume is 0.79, and the correlation coefficient between the actual weight and the volume estimated using 2 points is 0.87. After selection the 2 points, the time involved in separation a liver into left and right river lobe and volumetry of them is measured for confirmation that the algorithm can be used on real time during surgery. The mean ${\pm}$ standard deviation of the process time is $57.28sec{\pm}32.81$ per 1 data set ($149.17pages{\pm}55.92$).

  • Generally, ceramics are very difficult-to-cut materials because of its high strength and hardness. The machining process of ceramics can be characterized by cracking and brittle fracture. In the machining of ceramics, edge chipping and crack propagation are the principal reasons to cause surface integrity deterioration. Such phenomenon can cause not only poor dimensional and geometric accuracy, but also possible failure of the ceramic parts. Ceramics can be machined with traditional method such as grinding and polishing. However, such processes are generally cost-expensive and have low material removal rate. Thus, in this paper, to overcome these problems. BN powder, which gives good cutting property, is added for the fabrication of machinable ceramics by volume of 5,10,15,20,25 and 30%. And, mechanical properties, R-curve behavior and machining tests are carried out to evaluate the machining properties of the manufactured machinable ceramics.

  • The attraction of using expert system in operator support systems for modern plant is that it offers a way of dealing with the problem of information overload that can occur during a severe disturbance at a modern industrial plant. During such a disturance the volume of information presented to operators may be such that they are unable to decide quickly what is important and what is not. Therefore, arriving at a correct diagnosis of the initialling fault may be delayed. An expert system operator sup-port system is a means of focusing attention on what really matters and cutting out the rest. This paper presents the development of prototype expert system which detect the fault part, machine, system and decide action priority. This prototype expert system has 6 sub- system which is Interface Manager, Decision Maker, Inference Engine, Knowledge base, Simulatio, and D.P System ( Diagnosis and predictor)

  • Ceramics are very difficult-to-cut materials because of its high strength and hardness. Their machining mechanism is characterized by cracking and brittle fracture. In this paper, to give good machinability to the ceramics, h-BN powders are added to $Si_3N_4$, by volume of 20, 25 and 30%. And the machinability of the produced ceramics is tested using micro drilling system. Through required experimental works, it is shown that the micro drilling machinability is varied along with the volumetric percentage of h-BN powders. Also, it is verified that the obtained results can be used to develop new machinable ceramics of good material properties and machinability.

  • In this work, the surface integrity smoothened with a ball end mill was investigated. Because surface integrity mainly affects the manual finishing process, $RV_{AM}$(Remaining Volume After Machining) was introduced, and it gives the relation between machining process and finishing process. Runout and phase shift which adversely affect surface integrity were considered in the generation of surface topography. Cutting points in ball end milling were identified with positional vectors and a set of vectors which have the minimum height in unit area was selected for the generation of surface and $RV_{AM}$. $RV_{AM}$ variation according to runout and phase shift was calculated and experimentally verified in proposed HSM conditions for mold machining. From the simulations and the experiments, a desirable High Speed Machining condition was suggested.

  • Hard materials such as hardmetal, coated hardmetal, cermet, ceramics and diamond or c-BN sintered compact are a kind of grain-dispersed alloy with high volume of hard particles. These are used for cutting tools, wear-resistant tools, rock bits, high pressure apparatus, etc. The annual production in Japan is about 1.7 billion dollars (200 billion yen). This is greatly owed to the development in science and technology which has been accomplished by applying new concepts such as fine or uniform grain microstructure, orientation of crystal grains, functionally graded material, artificial lattice and coherent bonding in recent years. In this review, the development in recent years in Japan is briefly summarized.
