A series of tests dedicated to station blackout (SBO) accident scenarios have been recently performed at the $Prim{\ddot{a}}rkreislauf-Versuchsanlage$ (primary coolant loop test facility; PKL) facility in the framework of the OECD/NEA PKL-3 project. These investigations address current safety issues related to beyond design basis accident transients with significant core heat up. This work presents a detailed analysis using the best estimate thermal-hydraulic code TRACE (v5.0 Patch4) of different SBO scenarios conducted at the PKL facility; failures of high- and low-pressure safety injection systems together with steam generator (SG) feedwater supply are considered, thus calling for adequate accident management actions and timely implementation of alternative emergency cooling procedures to prevent core meltdown. The presented analysis evaluates the capability of the applied TRACE model of the PKL facility to correctly capture the sequences of events in the different SBO scenarios, namely the SBO tests H2.1, H2.2 run 1 and H2.2 run 2, including symmetric or asymmetric secondary side depressurization, primary side depressurization, accumulator (ACC) injection in the cold legs and secondary side feeding with mobile pump and/or primary side emergency core coolant injection from the fuel pool cooling pump. This study is focused specifically on the prediction of the core exit temperature, which drives the execution of the most relevant accident management actions. This work presents, in particular, the key improvements made to the TRACE model that helped to improve the code predictions, including the modeling of dynamical heat losses, the nodalization of SGs' heat exchanger tubes and the ACCs. Another relevant aspect of this work is to evaluate how well the model simulations of the three different scenarios qualitatively and quantitatively capture the trends and results exhibited by the actual experiments. For instance, how the number of SGs considered for secondary side depressurization affects the heat transfer from primary side; how the discharge capacity of the pressurizer relief valve affects the dynamics of the transient; how ACC initial pressure and nitrogen release affect the grace time between ACC injection and subsequent core heat up; and how well the alternative feeding modes of the secondary and/or primary side with mobile injection pumps affect core quenching and ensure stable long-term core cooling under controlled boiling conditions.

Networks are growing faster than ever before causing a multi-domain complexity. The diversity, variety and dynamic nature of network traffic and services require enhanced orchestration and management approaches. While many standard orchestrators and network operators are resulting in an increase of complexity for handling E2E slice orchestration. Besides, there are multiple domains involved in E2E slice orchestration including access, edge, transport and core network each having their specific challenges. Hence, handling of multi-domain, multi-platform and multi-operator based networking environments manually requires specified experts and using this approach it is impossible to handle the dynamic changes in the network at runtime. Also, the manual approaches towards handling such complexity is always error-prone and tedious. Hence, this work proposes an automated and abstracted solution for handling E2E slice orchestration using an intent-based approach. It abstracts the domains from the operators and enable them to provide their orchestration intention in the form of high-level intents. Besides, it actively monitors the orchestrated resources and based on current monitoring stats using the machine learning it predicts future utilization of resources for updating the system states. Resulting in a closed-loop automated E2E network orchestration and management system.

We suggest a low area and high efficiency switched-mode power supply (SMPS) with a pulse width modulation (PWM) generator based on a pseudo relaxation-oscillating technique. In the proposed circuit, the PWM duty ratio is determined by the voltage slope control of an internal capacitor according to amount of charging current in a PWM generator. Compared to conventional SMPSs, the proposed control method consists of a simple structure without the filter circuits needed for an analog-controlled SMPS or the digital compensator used by a digitally-controlled SMPS. The proposed circuit is able to operate at switching frequency of 1MHz~10MHz, as this frequency can be controlled from the selection of one of the internal capacitors in a PWM generator. The maximum current of the core circuit is 2.7 mA, and the total current of the entire circuit including output buffer driver is 15 mA at 10 MHz switching frequency. The proposed SMPS has a simulated maximum ripple voltage of 7mV. In this paper, to verify the operation of the proposed circuit, we performed simulation using Dongbu Hitek BCD $0.35{\mu}m$ technology and measured the proposed circuit.
In 2017, the U.S. DARPA coined 'mosaic warfare' as a new way of warfighting. According to the Timothy Grayson, director of DARPA's Strategic Technologies Office, mosaic warfare is a "system of system" approach to warfghting designed around compatible "tiles" of capabilities, rather than uniquely shaped "puzzle pieces" that must be fitted into a specific slot in a battle plan in order for it to work. Prior to cover mosaic warfare theory and recent development, it deals analyze its background and several premises for better understanding. The U.S. DoD officials might acknowledge the current its forces vulnerability to the China's A2/AD assets. Furthermore, the U.S. seeks to complete military superiority even in other nation's territorial domains including sea and air. Given its rapid combat restoration capability and less manpower casualty, the U.S. would be able to ready to endure war of attrition that requires massive resources. The core concept of mosaic warfare is a "decision centric warfare". To embody this idea, it create adaptability for U.S. forces and complexity or uncertainty for the enemy through the rapid composition and recomposition of a more disag g reg ated U.S. military force using human command and machine control. This allows providing more options to friendly forces and collapse adversary's OODA loop eventually. Adaptable kill web, composable force packages, A.I., and context-centric C3 architecture are crucial elements to implement and carry out mosaic warfare. Recently, CSBA showed an compelling assessment of mosaic warfare simulation. In this wargame, there was a significant differences between traditional and mosaic teams. Mosaic team was able to mount more simultaneous actions, creating additional complexity to adversaries and overwhelming their decision-making with less friendly force's human casualty. It increase the speed of the U.S. force's decision-making, enabling commanders to better employ tempo. Consequently, this article finds out and suggests implications for Korea armed forces. First of all, it needs to examine and develop 'mosaic warfare' in terms of our security circumstance. In response to future warfare, reviewing overall force structure and architecture is required which is able to compose force element regardless domain. In regards to insufficient defense resources and budget, "choice" and "concentration" are also essential. It needs to have eyes on the neighboring countries' development of future war concept carefully.

This paper presents an instantaneous voltage control scheme of au킹liary power supply system for the electric railway v vehicles, The resonance problem of the LC filter and the existing steady state error are more serious as the use of l instantaneous voltage control techniques for the fast transient response at the nonlinear load, A filter capacitor current f feedback loop is considered to increase the damping ratio of the voltage transfer function for the suppression of the resonance problem of the LC inverter output filter. To eliminate the steady state en‘or existing in case of the AC l instantaneous voltage control. the high gain transfer function is added to the conventional PI controller. The theoretical a analysis is well described with the simulation results. The validity of the proposed schemes is well verified through the s simulation and expelimental results for the 5 kVA prototype.

In many current wireless packet data system, the short-burst transmissions are used, and training overhead is very significant for such short burst formats. So, the availability of the short training sequence and the fast converging algorithm is essential in the adaptive equalizer. In this paper, the new equalizer algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of a MTLMS (multiple-training least mean square) based DFE (decision feedback equalizer)using the short training sequence. In the proposed method, the output of the DFE is fed back to the LMS (least mean square) based adaptive DEF loop iteratively and used as an extended training sequence. Instead of the block operation using ML (maximum likelihood) estimator, the low-complexity adaptive LMS operation is used for overall processing. Simulation results show that the perfonnance of the proposed equalizer is improved with a linear computational increase as the iterations parameter in creases and can give the more robustness to the time-varying fading.

This paper presents a new PLL clock generator that can improve a jitter noise characteristics and acquisition process by designing a multi-PFD(Phase Frequency Detector) and an adaptive charge pump circuit. The conventional PLL has not only a jitter noise caused from such a demerit of the wide dead zone and duty cycle, but also a long delay interval that makes a high speed operation unable. An advanced multi-structured PFD circuit using the TSPC(True Single Phase Clocking) circuit is proposed, in which it shows an excellent functionalities in terms of the jitter noises by designing its circuit with the exact dead zone and duty cycle. Our new designed adaptive charge pump in the loop filter of a PLL can improve an acquisition characteristic by adaptively increasing of current. The Hspice simulation is done to evaluate the performance of the proposed circuit. Simulation result shows that our PLL has under 0.01ns in the dead zone, no influence from the duty cycle of input signals and under 50ns in the acquisition time. This circuit will be able to be used in develops of high-performance microprocessors and digital systems.
Distributed generation systems (DGSs) have been getting more and more attention in terms of renewable energy use and new generation technologies in the past decades. The self-excited induction generator (SEIG) occupies an important role in the area of energy conversion due to its low cost, robustness and simple control. Unlike synchronous generators, the SEIG has to absorb capacitive reactive power from the outer device aiming to stabilize the terminal voltage at load changes. This paper presents a novel static VAR compensator (SVC) called a magnetic energy recovery switch (MERS) to serve as a voltage controller in SEIG powered DGSs. In addition, many small scale SEIGs, instead of a single large one, are applied and devoted to promote the generation efficiency. To begin with, an expandable mathematic model based on a d-q equivalent circuit is created for parallel SEIGs. The control method of the MERS is further improved with the objective of broadening its operating range and restraining current harmonics by parameter optimization. A hybrid control strategy is developed by taking both of the stand-alone and grid-connected modes into consideration. Then simulation and experiments are carried out in the case of single and double SEIG(s) generation. Finally, the measurement results verify that the proposed DGS with SVC-MERS achieves a better stability and higher feasibility. The major advantages of the mentioned variable reactive power supplier, when compared to the STATCOM, include the adoption of a small DC capacitor, line frequency switching, simple control and less loss.

Metal-ferroelectric-insulator- semiconductor(MFTS) devices by using rapid thermal annealed (RTA) LiNbO$_3$/AIN/Si(100) structures were successfully fabricated and demonstrated nonvolatile memory operations. Metal-insulator-semiconductor(MIS) C-V properties with high dielectric AIN thin films showed no hysteresis and good interface properties. The dielectric constant of the AIN film calculated from the capacitance at the accumulation region in the capacitance-voltage(C-V) characteristics was about 8. The C-V characteristics of MFIS capacitor showed a hysteresis loop due to the ferroelectric nature of the LiNbO$_3$ thin films. Typical dielectric constant value of LiNbO$_3$ film of MFIS device was about 23. The memory window width was about 1.2 V at the gate voltage of $\pm$5 V ranges. Typical gate leakage current density of the MFIS structure was the order of 10$^{-9}$ A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at the range of within $\pm$500 kV/cm. The ferroelectric capacitors showed no polarization degradation up to about 10$^{11}$ switching cycles when subjected to symmetric bipolar voltage pulse(peak-to-peak 8 V, 50 % duty cycle) in the 500 kHz.

This paper represents impedance calculation of the distance relay using PSCAD/EMTDC software for transmission line involving the UPFC(Unified Power Flow Controller)device, which is the most vigorous component of FACTS. The presence of the UPFC significantly affects the line parameters of transmission system, which are also influenced by the distance relay setting. Moreover, depending on the UPFC location and its parameters, zones of setting the distance relay will be changed. The presence of the UPFC in the fault loop affects both voltage and current seen by relay. Therefore, the distance relay should be taken into account the variable injected voltage of the UPFC.
