15 kVA급 박막형 초전도 전류제한기의 한류특성 (Characteristics of 15 kVA Superconducting Fault Current Limiters Using Thin Films)

  • We investigated resistive superconducting fault current limites (SFCLs) fabricated using YBCO thin films on 2-inch diameter sapphire substrates. Nearly identical SFCL units were prepared and tested. The units were connected in series and parallel to increase the current and voltage ratings. A serial connection of the units showed significantly unbalanced power dissipation between the units. This imbalance was removed by introducing a shunt resistor to the firstly quenched unit. Parallel connection of the units increased the current rating. An SFCL module of 4 units in parallel, each of which has minimum quench current rating. An SFCL module of 4 units in parallel, each of which has minimum quench current 25 A$\_$peak/, was produced and successfully tested at a 220 V$\_$rms/circuit. From the resistance increase, we estimated that the film temperature increased to 200 K in 5 msec, and 300 K in 120 msec. Successive quenches revealed that this system is stable without degradation in the current limiting capability under such thermal shocks as quenches at 220 V$\_$rms/.

초전도 한류기용 YBCO 박막 전류 Path Pattern 개발 (Development of new current path pattern of YBCO thin films for Superconducting fault current limiters)

  • In this study, electromagnetic analysis of current paths including meander pattern, spiral pattern, and bi-spiral pattern were performed and in order to verity the analysis results, experiments tests including quench test, and insulation tests were performed. In addition, bubble corner concepts were introduced to enhance insulation reliability. From our study, bi-spiral pattern of YBCO thin films were rather effective for quench and insulation than the other patterns. So this current path pattern was adopted for YBCO thin films in order to develop 6.6 kV resistive fault current limiters. Finally YBCO thin films were connected in series and parallel to enhance capacity, and the test results of current limiting characteristics of 6.6kV resistive SFCL were successful. The Progress in Superconductivity is published every six month and serves as a channel for publications on superconductivity and related topics. 다공성 확산층을 이용한 한계전류형 지르코니아 산소센서 (Limit-current type zirconia oxygen sensor with porous diffusion layer)

  • Simple, small and portable oxygen sensors were fabricated by tape casting technique. Yttria stabilized zirconia containing cordierite ceramics (YSZC) were used as a porous diffused layer of oxygen in pumping cell. Yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) solid electrolyte, YSZC porous diffusion layer and heater-patterned ceramic sheets were prepared by co- firing method. Limit current characteristics and the linear relationship of current to oxygen concentration were observed. Viscosity variation of the slurries both YSZ and YSZC showed a similar behavior, but micro pores in the fired sheet were increased with increasing of the cordierite amount. Molecular diffusion was dominated due to the formation of large pores in porous diffusion layer. The plateau range of limit current in porous-type oxygen sensor was narrow than the one of aperture-type oxygen sensor. However limit current curve was appeared in porous-type oxygen sensor even at the lower applied voltage. The plateau range of limit-current was widen as increasing the thickness of porous diffusion layer of the YSZ containing cordierite. Measuring temperature of $600{\sim}650^{\circ}C$ was recommended for limit-current oxygen sensor. Porous diffusion layer-type oxygen sensor showed faster response than the aperture-type one and was stable up to 30 days running without any crack at interface between the layers.

전기주석도금 반응에 미치는 PSA계 도금용액 노화의 영향 (Influence of Electrolyte Aging on Electrotinning in Phenolsulfonic Acid Bath)

  • 전기주석도금용 PSA(Phenolsulfonic Acid Bath)계 전기주석 도금액은 장기간 사용하면 노화되어 도금 전류밀도 범위 축소 및 표면특성 열화현상이 일어나게 된다. 본 연구에서는 도금액 노화 현상의 원인을 축적된 phenolsulfonate농도 증가의 관점에서 조사하였다. 동전위와 정전위 분극실험 결과에서는, phenolsulfonate축적농도 증가에 따른 도금액의 노화 정도가 증가함에 따라 음극분극 초기에 나타나는 한계전류밀도가 점차 낮아지는 현상이 나타났다. Sodium phenolsulfonate를 첨가하여 phenolsulfonate끼 농도만을 조절한 도금액에서도 노화된 도금액과 거의 비슷한 분극 특성이 나타남으로써 도금액 노화의 원인이 축적된 phenolsulfonate임을 간접적으로 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 도금액의 온도가 증가할수록 한계전류밀도가 뚜렷하게 나타나지 않고 도금액 노화에 따른 영향이 적어져서 도금액의 노화는 물질이동과 같은 thermally-activated process의 제약에 의한 것이며, phenolsulfonate가 축적되면서 주석 이온의 mobility를 감소시키고, 따라서 정상적인 도금 반응이 억제되는 것으로 판단된다.

수직형 순환식 수은 모세관 다발체 전극 전해계의 개발과 그 특성 연구 (A Study on the Development of Electrolysis System with Vertically Circulating Mercury Capillary Bundle Electrode and its Characteristics)

  • 본 연구에서는 고밀집 섬유다발체 내에 수은과 금속이온을 함유한 수용액을 동시에 주입시켜 최소 공간에서 최대한의 수은전극 면적을 갖는 수직형 순환식 수은 모세관 다발체 전극 전해반응 장치가 개발되었다. 이 장치의 특성과 안정성을 평가하기 위해 수은과 수용액의 유량 변화에 따른 철(III)과 우라늄(VI)이온의 환원 voltammogram이 측정되었다. 수용액의 유속은 장치 내 전해반응에 큰 영향을 미쳤으며, 잘 발달된 한계전류를 얻기 위해서는 정밀한 유속조절이 필요하였다. 측정된 voltammogram의 한계전류는 수용액 유속에 선형적으로 비례하였으며, 한계전류를 보이는 전위에서 연속적으로 우라늄(VI)과 철(III) 이온을 100% 환원시킬 수 있었다. 고밀집 섬유집합체 내에서 수은이 모세관 연속체를 유지하는데 필요로 하는 수은유속 이상에서는 수은유속의 변화는 장치 내의 전해반응에 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다. 본 연구에서 개발된 수직형 순환식 수은 모세관 다발체 전극 전해계는 정확히 제어되는 수용액 유량조건에서 수용액 내의 금속이온의 산화수 상태 및 농도의 연속적인 분석 및 전해반응 기구 해석에 효과적으로 사용될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • This study researched into the manufacture of current-limit module of using YBCO coated conductor. Regarding over-current of exceeding the critical current, the quench characteristics were researched according to the stabilizing layer through tendency in resistance, which is generated in conductor, by applying over-current to YBCO coated conductors, which have stabilizing layer. YBCO coated conductors, which were used in experiment, include one kind such as the conductor, which used stainless as the stabilizing layer. The critical current is 70 A. And, the critical temperature is with 90 K. First of all, the quench generation was researched under over-current of exceeding the critical current by using this YBCO coated conductors. The tendency of a rise in the detected voltage according to the applied current was measured. And, the tendency of a rise in resistance through voltage-current curve was measured. As a result, the point of time in thermal quench of conductor, which has stainless as the stabilizing layer, could be confirmed to be fast.

  • We fabricated a resistive superconducting fault current limiter of two stripe meander type based on a YBCO film, and performed current limitation experiments. In order to disperse the heat generated at hot spots in the YBCO film the film was coated with a gold shunt layer. At $0^{\circ}$ fault angle the minimum quench current was $9.6 A_{peak}$(meander line cross section: $5{\times}10^{-6}cm^2$) and the fast quench time was 0.63 msec. The resistance of the limiter continued to increase for three cycles due to heat generation in the gold layer and was stabilized afterwards. At $45^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ the fast quench time were 0.56 msec and 0.26 msec, respectively. The quench time is believed to be reduced because faults occurred when the current was increasing or was at the peak value. With the limiter we could effectively limit the fault current about 1/5 times right after the fault and about 1/8.5 times three cycles after.

  • The Sn-Pb eutectic solder bump formation ($150\mu\textrm{m}$ diameter, $250\mu\textrm{m}$ pitch) by electroplating was studied for flip chip package fabrication. The effect of current density and plating time on Sn-Pb deposit was investigated. The morphology and composition of plated solder surface was examined by scanning electron microscopy. The plating thickness increased wish increasing time. The plating rate became constant at limiting current density. After the characteristics of Sn-Pb plating were investigated, Sn-Pb solder bumps were fabricated in optimal condition of $7A/dm^$. 4hr. Ball shear test after reflow was performed to measure adhesion strength between solder bump and UBM (Under Bump Metallurgy). The shear strength of Sn-Pb bump after reflow was higher than that of before reflow.

13.2kV/630A급 고온초전도 한류기의 절연설계 (Insulation Design for a 13.2kV/630A High-Tc Superconducting Fault Current Limiter)

  • The superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) consists of superconducting coil for limiting the fault current and cryogenic cooling system for keeping the coil in superconducting condition. The study on the insulation design for superconducting coil and cryogenic cooling system should be elaborately performed to develop a high voltage SFCL. In this paper, insulation design of solenoid coil for 13.2kV/630A SFCL is performed through the AC dielectric breakdown test and lightning impulse dielectric strength test. The dependence of dielectric characteristics on the magnitude of liquid nitrogen pressure is also investigated. Through the investigation, it is verified that dielectric characteristics of sub-cooled nitrogen are strongly enhanced by the pressurization. The electrical insulation design of 13.2kV/630A SFCL is performed by applying the experimental results. The successful insulation design for development of 13.2kV/630A SFCL is confirmed by AC dielectric breakdown tests.
