A thin metal plate such as detent spring has the shape deformation due to the phenomenon of spring back after press machining and heat treatment process. This requires the correction of spring shape and force in final inspection process. To do correction of the shape deformation the impact force is manually applied to the bended part of detent spring after measuring the shape deformation and spring force. To develop the automatic spring force correction system, applied force of occurring plastic deformation must be derived from the experimental method. But frequent change of spring shape and material makes it difficult to accomplish the experimental method to be applied. This paper describes the analytical method for detent spring force correction system is to be substituted for the experimental method. FEM(Finite Element Method) is used to find the boundary value between elastic and plastic deformation in the analytical method. To confirm the validity of the analytical method, the result of two methods is compared each other at various applied force conditions. It shows that the simulation result of the analytical method is consistent with the result of the experimental method within the error bound ${\pm}$5%. The result of this paper is useful for development of the automatic spring correction system and reduction of the complicated and tedious processes involved in experimental method.
In agriculture, remote sensing data using earth observation satellites have many advantages over other methods in terms of time, space, and efficiency. This study analyzed the changes of reflectance and vegetation index according to atmospheric correction of images before using satellite images in agriculture. Top OF Atmosphere (TOA) reflectance and surface reflectance through atmospheric correction were calculated to compare the reflectance of each band and Normalized Vegetation difference Index (NDVI). As a result, the NDVI observed from field measurement sensors and satellites showed a higher agreement and correlation than the TOA reflectance calculated from surface reflectance using atmospheric correction. Comparing NDVI before and after atmospheric correction for multi-temporal images, NDVI increased after atmospheric corrected in all images. garlic and onion cultivation area and forest where the vegetation health was high area NDVI increased more 0.1. Because the NIR images are included in the water vapor band, atmospheric correction is greatly affected. Therefore, atmospheric correction is a very important process for NDVI time-series analysis in applying image to agricultural field.
Videos shot underwater are known to have significant color distortion. Typical causes are backscattering by floating objects and attenuation of red colors in proportion to the depth of the water. In this paper, we aim to analyze color correction performance and color distortion patterns for images taken underwater. Backscattering and attenuation caused by suspended matter will be discussed in the next study. In this study, based on the DeepSeeColor model proposed by Jamieson et al., we verify color correction performance and analyze the pattern of color distortion according to changes in water depth. The input images were taken in the US Virgin Islands by Jamieson et al., and out of 1,190 images, 330 images including color charts were used. Color correction performance was expressed as angular error using the input image and the correction image using the DeepSeeColor model. Jamieson et al. calculated the angular error using only black and white patches among the color charts, so they were unable to provide an accurate analysis of overall color distortion. In this paper, the color correction error was calculated targeting the entire color chart patch, so an appropriate degree of color distortion can be suggested. Since the input image of the DeepSeeColor model has a depth of 1 to 8, color distortion patterns according to depth changes can be analyzed. In general, the deeper the depth, the greater the attenuation of red colors. Color distortion due to depth changes was modeled in the form of scale and offset movement to predict distortion due to depth changes. As the depth increases, the scale for color correction increases and the offset decreases. The color correction performance using the proposed method was improved by 41.5% compared to the conventional method.

Currently, the response correction factor is calculated by comparing the response measured by the load test on a bridge with the response analyzed in the initial analytical model. Then the load rating and the load carrying capacity are evaluated. However, the response correction factor gives a value that fluctuates depending on the measurement location and load condition. In particular, when the initial analytical model is not suitable for representing the behavior of a bridge, the range of variation is large and the analysis response by the calibrated model may give a result that is different from the measured response. In this study, a pseudo-static load test was applied to obtain static response with dynamic components removed under various load conditions of a vehicle moving at a low speed. Static response was measured on two similar PSC-I girder bridges, and the response correction factors for displacement and strain were calculated for each of the two bridges. When the initial analysis model was not properly set up, it is verified that the response of the analytical model corrected by the average response correction factor does not fall within the margin of error with the measured response.

In this study, discrete-time domain analysis is proposed to investigate the input current of a buck AC/DC light-emitting diode (LED) driver. The buck power factor correction converter can operate in both discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and continuous conduction mode (CCM). Two discontinuous and two continuous conduction operating modes are possible depending on which event terminates the conduction of the main switch in a switching cycle. All four operating modes are considered in the discrete-time domain analysis. The peak current-mode control with slope compensation is used to design a low-cost AC/DC LED driver. A slope compensation design of the buck AC/DC LED driver is described on the basis of a discrete-time domain analysis. Experimental results are presented to confirm the usefulness of the proposed analysis.

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) measurements were performed in a total of 191 blood samples from patients below a hematocrit of 35% by both the Test-1(SIRE Analytical Systems, Udine, Italy) and the Westergren method, endorsed as the reference method for ESR by the International Council for Standardization in Hematology(ICSH). The corrected Westergren ESR values were also obtained applying the formula of Fabry (corrected ESR = ESR measured x 15/55-Hct). Linear regression analysis showed a close correlation (r=0.85) between the two methods both before and after ESR correction in total samples. There was no significant correlation difference between two methods in both two groups with hemoglobin $${\geq_-}9g/dl$$ and <9g/dl before and after ESR correction (r=0.873, r=0.827 respectively before correction and r=0.867, r=0.830 respectively after correction). Also, for two groups with hematocrit $${\geq_-}24%$$ and <24%, no significant difference was observed (r=0.859, r=0.792 respectively before correction and r=0.782, r=0.842 respectively after correction). However, for samples with <60mm of Westergren ESR before correction, a better correlation coefficient was obtained than samples with $${\geq_-}60mm$$(r=0.701, r=0.541 respectively). In corrected Westergren ESR, also samples that were obtained with <40mm showed better correlation than samples with $${\geq_-}40mm$$ (r=0.690, r=0.347 respectively). In conclusion, we found a good correlation between Test-1 and Westergren measurements in patients with anemia but an expert group discussion is required to solve discrepancy between two methods in blood samples with very high ESR.
In this paper, multi-GNSS network RTK MAC correction generation software developed based on MATLAB GUI is introduced. The software was developed as a post-processing software based on simulation data to evaluate the feasibility of an algorithm for generating correction for multi-GNSS including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. As a result of software operation, network RTK correction for each system of multi-GNSS is output in MATLAB file format. In this paper, to evaluate the performance of the developed software, the residual error was analyzed after applying the correction generated through the software to the user. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that effective network RTK correction could be generated by confirming that the residual errors of users were maintained at 10 cm or less.
Concrete is one of the most widely used materials as the shielding structures of a nuclear facilities. It is also the most generated radioactive waste in quantity while dismantling facilities. Since the concrete captures neutrons and generates various radionuclides, radiation measurement and analysis of the sample was fulfilled prior to dismantle facilities. An HPGe detector is used in general for the radiation measurement, and effective correction factors such as geometrical correction factor, self-absorption correction, and absolute detector efficiency have to be applied to the measured data to decide exact radioactivity of the sample. Correction factors are obtained by measuring data using a standard source with the same geometry and chemical states as the sample under the same measurement conditions. However, it is very difficult to prepare standard concrete sources because concrete is limited in pretreatment due to various constituent materials and high density. In addition, the concrete sample obtained by core drill is a volumetric source, which requires geometric correction for sample diameter and self absorption correction for sample density. Therefore in recent years, many researchers are working on the calculation of effective correction factors using Monte carlo simulation instead of measuring them using a standard source. In this study we calculated, using Geant4, one of the Monte carlo codes, the correction factors for the various diameter and density of the concrete core sample at the gamma ray energy emitted from the nuclides 152Eu and 60Co, which are the most generated in radioactive concrete.
For reliable determination of mechanical characteristics of adhesively bonded joints used e.g. as input data for computer-aided design of complex components, the thick-adherend tensile-shear test according to ISO 11003-2 is the most important material testing method. Although the total displacement of the joint is measured across the polymer layer directly in the overlap zone in order to minimize the influence of the stepped adherends, the substrate deformation must be taken into account within the framework of the evaluation of the shear modulus and the maximum shear strain, at least when high-strength adhesives are applied. In the standard ISO 11003-2 version of 1993, it was prescribed to perform the substrate deformation correction by means of testing a one-piece reference specimen. The authors, however, pointed to the excessive demands on the measuring accuracy of the extensometers connected with this technique in industrial practice and alternatively proposed a numerical deformation analysis of a dummy specimen. This idea of a mathematical correction was included in the revised ISO 11003-2 version of 2001 but in the simplified form of an analytical method based on Hooke's law of elasticity for small strains. In the present work, it is shown that both calculation techniques yield considerably discordant results. As experimental assessment would require high-precision distance determination (e.g. laser extensometer), finite element analyses of the deformation behavior of the bonded joint are performed in order to estimate the accuracy of the obtained substrate deformation corrections. These simulations reveal that the numerical correction technique based on the finite element deformation modeling of the reference specimen leads to considerably more realistic results.
For real-time precise positioning, IGS provides ephemeris predictions (IGS ultra-rapid, IGU) and real-time ephemeris estimates (real-time service, RTS). Due to the RTS data latency, which ranges from 5 s to 30 s, a short-term prediction process is necessary before applying the RTS corrections. In this paper, the real-time performance of the RTS correction and IGU prediction are compared. The RTS correction availability for the GPS satellites observed in Korea is computed as 99.3%. The RTS correction is applied to broadcast ephemeris to verify the accuracy of the RTS correction. The 3D orbit RMS error of the RTS correction is 0.043 m. Prediction of the RTS correction is modeled as a polynomial, and then the predicted value is compared with the IGU prediction value. The RTS orbit prediction accuracy is nearly equivalent to the IGU prediction, but RTS clock prediction performance is 0.13 m better than the IGU prediction.
