In order to construct a nonlinear observer, change of coordinate system is necessary. However, as in the case of feedback linearizable system it is not easy to obtain a coordinate transformation map. ln this paper, a canonical structure is proposed for observable systems with an objective of finding a vector field which is necessary for the generation of a new coordinate system.

The GNSS coordinate time series is used as important data for geophysical analysis such as terrestrial reference frame establishment, crustal deformation, Earth orientation parameter estimation, etc. However, various factors may cause discontinuity in the coordinate time series, which may lead to errors in the interpretation. In this paper, we describe the discontinuity in the coordinate time series due to the equipment replacement for domestic GNSS stations and discuss the change in movement magnitude and velocity vector difference in each direction before and after discontinuity correction. To do this, we used three years (2017-2019) of data from 40 GNSS stations. The average magnitude of the velocity vector in the north-south, east-west, and vertical directions before correction is -12.9±1.5, 28.0±1.9, and 4.2±7.6 mm/yr, respectively. After correction, the average moving speed in each direction was -13.0±1.0, 28.2±0.8, and 0.7±2.1 mm/yr, respectively. The average magnitudes of the horizontal GNSS velocity vectors before and after discontinuous correction was similar, but the deviation in movement size of stations decreased after correction. After equipment replacement, the change in the vertical movement occurred more than the horizontal movement variation. Moreover, the change in the magnitude of movement in each direction may also cause a change in the velocity vector, which may lead to errors in geophysical analysis.

In order to linearize the nonlinear systems, two different methods(i.e. state coordinate change and feedback) are usually used. In this paper, we consider the multi-input discrete-time nonlinear systems and obtain the necessary and sufficient conditions for both the linearization problem by state-coordinate change and the feedback linearization problem. The way of finding state coordinate change and state feedback which linearize the given system is also given in the proof.
In order to study interactions between climate change and air quality, a modeling system including the downscaling scheme has been developed in the integrated manner. This research focuses on the development of a downscaling method to utilize CCSM3 outputs as the initial and boundary conditions for the regional climate model, MM5. Horizontal/vertical interpolation was performed to convert from the latitude/longitude and hybrid-vertical coordinate for the CCSM3 model to the Lambert-Conformal Arakawa-B and sigma-vertical coordinate for the MM5 model. A variable diagnosis was made to link between different variables and their units of CCSM and MM5. To evaluate the dynamic downscaling performance of this study, spatial distributions were compared between outputs of CCSM/MM5 and NRA/MM5 and statistic analysis was conducted. Temperature and precipitation patterns of CCSM/MM5 in summer and winter showed a similar pattern with those of observation data in East Asia and the Korean Peninsula. In addition, statistical analysis presented that the agreement index (AI) is more than 0.9 and correlation coefficient about 0.9. Those results indicate that the dynamic downscaling system built in this study can be used for the research of interaction between climate change and air quality.
Antennas at permanent GPS stations operated by the former Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs (MOGAHA) in Korea were replaced in years 2008 and 2009, and these changes caused abrupt discontinuities in precise coordinate time series. In this study, an algorithm that eliminates those breaks was developed based on 15-year-long coordinate time series for the purpose of creating clean and continuous coordinate time series. The newly developed algorithm to correct for sudden jumps and dips in the GPS time series due to the antenna change was designed to consider all the linear and annual signals observed before and after the event. The accuracy of the new algorithm was confirmed to be at the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) level of 2.3-2.6 mm. The new algorithm was also found to be capable of reflect site-specific characteristics at each station.

A new approach based on mean value coordinate combined with Laplacian coordinate is proposed for shape deformation of a large polygon model composed of triangular net. In the method, the spherical mean value coordinates for closed control meshes is introduced to describe a vertex in the triangle meshes to be deformed. Furthermore, the well known quardratic least square method for the Laplacian coordinates is employed in order to deform the control meshes. Because the mean value coordinates are continuous and smooth on the interior of control meshes, deforming operation of control meshes change the shape of polygon model while preserving the intrinsic surface detail. The effectiveness and validity of this novel approach was demonstrated by using it to deform large and complex polygon models with arbitrary topologies.

Computing the natural-looking interpolation of different shapes is a fundamental problem of computer graphics. It is proved by some researchers that such an interpolation can be achieved by pursuing the isometry. In this paper, a novel coordinate system that is invariant under isometries is defined. The coordinate system can easily be converted from the global vertex coordinates. Furthermore, the global coordinates can be efficiently recovered from the new coordinates by simply solving two sparse least-squares problems. Since the proposed coordinate system is invariant under isometries, then transformations such as global rigid trans-formations, articulated posture deformations, or any other isometric deformations, do not change the coordinate values. Therefore, shape interpolation can be done in this framework without being affected by the distortions caused by the isometry.

Recently earthquakes have been increasing worldwide, and the largest earthquake of 5.8 on the Richter scale occurred on September 12, 2016 in the Gyeongju area. After the earthquake, more than 200 aftershocks have occurred from January 2017 to December 2017. The largest earthquake in 2017 was a 4.3-magnitude earthquake near Pohang on November 15. In this study, we tried to analyze the coordinate change due to the earthquake using the data of the CORS(Continuously Operating Reference Station) in Korea. In order to analyze the change of coordinates due to the earthquake in Pohang area on November 15, 2017, data processing was performed by kinematic method. And from January 2017 to December 2017, observation data of 9 stations in Korea were analyzed by relative positioning method and the change of coordinates due to earthquake was analyzed. As a result of the study, it was possible to estimate the instantaneous coordinate change due to the earthquake through the kinematic positioning, and it was suggested that there is no change in the coordinates of the domestic CORS by the relative positioning results. After the 2017 Gyeongju earthquake, aftershocks continue to occur, and it is necessary to monitor the area continuously.
In this review, the basic concepts of geodetic coordinate system and map projection are explained to practitioners in exploration geophysicists to enhance the understanding of geographic and projected coordinate system. The fundamental elements such as earth ellipsoid, geoid, geocentric and geodetic latitudes, rhumb line, and great circle are dealt with in detail. The geocentric and geodetic coordinate systems are also summarized neatly, together with coordinate conversion formulae. In addition, the concept and technique for datum transforms between local and world datum are presented, with special emphasis on Korean Geodetic System.
