  • This research develops a robot as the device which constructs underwater harbour. This construction is to build a breakwater, which is dangerous and difficult. The hydraulic parallel mechanism-typed robot is developed to mechanize the construction by operating of a stoneworker (or diver) through a joystick. The six-dof robot is able to carry 2-3 tons' heavy stone and put it on the surface of breakwater. This paper presents the mechanical design of a miniature robot, its control and application for the breakwater construction.

  • Over the years, the recovery of the domestic construction market, which does not appear on the reverse, but rather due to a surge of construction materials cost of the construction sector is experiencing greater difficulties. Cement raw materials in the manufacturing process, if some of the waste recycling, cites quality control for products and measures for the thorough management is needed.   • Increasing constructions of tunnels are become larger of the size and longer of the length. Construction of the tunnellinings is in poor working environment, for example, dark and narrow underground. Therefore, it is difficult to constructlining by required quality in these poor working conditions. In case of the designing tunnel in large scale, particularly, there may be several problems as follows; delay of construction due to a long time in constructing lining and difficulty of quality control. It is also indicated that longitudinal cracks of them are main defects in domestic tunnels. Therefore, in this study, the precast lining method is introduced for solving problems, which are delay of the tunnel construction a d deterioration of tunnel lining. Precast linings have mainly been constructed in Norway and North Europe. A new construction method of tunnel lining, suitable in domestic situation, is introduced by detailed case study. Also, useful materials for design and construction of Precast lining are presented.

  • This study is for the isolated water-Proofing method using Poly-ethylene sheet in the underground water tank which is not affected by construction environments such as wet, low temperature and surface condition. The special features of this water-proofing method are that the construction and management control are very easier and more effective than the existing construction method.

  • The small and medium construction companies are facing potential EHS(Environment, Health & Safety) of major accidents to cause casualties or a financial loss and increasing social responsibility. So, they have to voluntarily accomplish the EHS management system rather than passively with regard to EHS regulation. In this study, the framework of integrated EHS management system is developed based on cloud computing, and construction companies are to materialize self-regulation EHS process of construction workplace and to standardize the total EHS business process using the developed system. The proposed system also provides risk analysis, education/control and continuous improvement for EHS tasks and users can easily access the system on the web at a low price through cloud computing service. Eventually, the integrated system contributes to the managerial improvement by minimizing economic and physical loss caused by construction accidents.

  • Measurements of temporary earth retaining wall during construction are essential for the safety and control of building under construction. As there is a rapid development in sensor technologies, new system of coordinate sensor is developed and applied to a construction site. The new system is capable of measuring three dimensional coordinates continuously over time. It makes possible to monitor the behavior of the temporary earth retaining wall real-time. In this paper, the results of such measurements are provided with real data.

  • In construction work, safety accidents often occur in combination with unstable physical and human conditions during preparation and execution of work. In Korea, the accident rate is higher to that of any country in the world. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures by fundamental prescription. In this paper, in the case of construction safety management, we tried to find a reasonable alternative through a questionnaire survey to apply to subcontracting and small-scale construction. In conclusion, workers who are well aware of the task could be able to reduce the accident rate by deploying them as safety management officers after receiving the training.

  • When concrete was hardened, it should had considered a crack to make internal stress by hydration heat. For control of crack, admixture was use to change cement because hydration heat was effect to cement. High strength mass concrete had much hydration heat with high volume of cement. It was necessary to reduce hydration heat in construction method. In this study, it evaluates hydration heat, compressive strength of transfer concrete girder regard to field construction type such as separation, whole etc. Also, we test compressive strength of concrete with core and mold specimen.

  • Roof and exterior wall of general formal buildings are designed and constructed through design focused exterior wall system and drainage and waterproof roof system. However, there are no classification of exterior wall and roof in freeform buildings and they are integrated as a surface of freeform buildings. Therefore it is necessary to develop the dry roof construction method using double skin roof system satisfying the design and function of the envelope. In this study, we have an effort to develop construction method of double-skin roof system using metal panel and PV.

  • This paper describes typical design and construction practice for in-situ ground reinforcement technique using improved steel pipe pressure grouting. A case history is presented to illustrate the benefit gained by application of the technique. This technique was applied to cut slopes developed in the construction of auxiliary spillway of 00 dam. Applicable conditions, method of survey, slope stability analysis and construction are given in this parer. As for the construction method, a procedure is given and the main points are the control of construction work. As a result of the pull-out test, it is shown that seel pipe nailing is particularly useful for stabilizing rock slope.
