  • Process control and autonomous safety control by applying PSM(Process Safety Management) method using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) and to development of PSIM(Process Safety Information Management) evaluation method in the construction. The reason why PSIM method should be quantitative and substantial progress is because it contributes Korean constructing companies to enhancing their safety control ability and to taking an equal stance just like developed countries, thereby strengthening their competitive edges.

  • While the pavement design is based on mechanical property such dynamic elastic modulus, the quality of highway subgrade during construction is controled by the optimum moisture content(OMC) and maximum dry density(${\gamma}$$\_$dmax/). However, since the quality control based on the OMC and maximum dry density does not consider the mechanical characteristics, there is a conceptional gap between design and PMS(pavement management system). Therefore, it is necessary to develope a new qualify control system using mechanical property for highway construction in more rational way. To achieve this goal, it is planned to perform various laboratory tests to collect mechanical properties of subgrade soil samples from several highway construction sites and to propose the relationship between dry unit weight (or OMC) and mechanical parameters. In this paper, the experimental data so far obtained are presented and analyzed. In addition, further research plan is presented and discussed.

  • In this paper, traditional residential architecture in South Korea appear to approach environmental regulation as part of ecological architecture of regional climate controlled environment, according to the characteristics and spatial arrangement, and material to the environment was described as a controlled manner. The scope of this study was not large scale housing construction from traditional chusagotaek, yunjeunggotaek, yangjindang, dokrakdang target was the case. Focusing on examples extracted from Korea first eco-friendly characteristics of traditional residential architecture is an extension of nature to explore space and yard space, and South Korea by way of environmental control that appears in traditional architecture, waterproof, moisture, solar radiation, sunlight, ventilation and air Attributes such as environmental regulation and environmental regulation of space, place and manner of materials were described. Korea's research through more traditional residential architecture of the environmental control and a wide range of environmentally friendly eco-construction was that appeared natural to use energy efficiently, it had been available.   • Resent removal work for road signs has been labor intensive and required times since it has been done manually using shaving type equipment. While traditional process is conducting, there are traffic jams caused by the passing control, and happened unexpected accidents to workers working at dangerous road circumstance. Besides, in current shaving method, there are high potentialities on the air pollution as well as the explosive accident occurred by using a propane gas. So, as an alternative, we have studied to develop the automatic erasing equipment made up with a high pressure water-jet system and automatic control system, mobile system; Wate-rjet system consists of an intensifier and nozzles to give a high pressure and spray on the sign, and automatic control system is composed of one axis robot using a hydraulic servo actuator controlled by a lever, And as a mobile system, a truck plays an important role for the transport of equipment and the forward movement in a removal process. In this paper, we have analyzed the characteristics of road signs and have investigated current erasing methods in the field. And we have organized and designed automatic erasing equipment, and we have made a basic experiment to find out the optimal spray condition as like the spray distance, spray angle and injection pressure.

  • Various thermostatic valves have been used widely in Korea for conservation of heating energy and enhancement of thermal comfort in residential buildings. But heating control performances of thermostatic valves extensively vary with the design and operational conditions of the heating system, climate condition and others. An experimental method was carried out in this study to analyze heating control characteristics by temperature sensing methods of thermostatic valves for various parameters, such as supply temperatures and flow rate of hot water, the position of room thermostats and outdoor air temperatures. As a result, the heat flow rate per day of S-Valve($34^{\circ}C$-Type) of water temperature sensing method was liked that of C-Valve of indoor air temperature sensing method with stage 3.3 of room thermostat in case supply temperature of hot water was $45^{\circ}C$, flow rate was 1.3 L/min and outdoor air temperature was $7.8^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper presents an effective construction method of adaptive multiple control systems utilizing some knowledge upon the plants. The adaptive multiple control system operates plants un-der widely changing environmental conditions. The adaptive multiple control system is composed of a family of candidate controllers together with a supervisor. The system does not require any identification schemes of environmental conditions. Monitoring outputs of the plant, the supervisor switches from one candidate controller to another, The basic ideas of adaptation are as follows: (1)each candidate controller is prepared for each environmental condition in advance; (2)the supervise. applies a sequence of speculative controls to the plant with candidate controllers just after the start of control or just after the detection of a change in the environmental condition. Each candidate controller can keep the system stable during one-step period of the speculative control and the most appropriate candidate controller for the environmental condition to which the system is exposed can be selected before the last trial of speculative control step comes to an end. We proposed a construction method of adaptive multiple control system without any knowledge of plant dynamics and applied the method to a cart-pole balancing problem and a vehicle anti skid braking system. In real applications, as we can often easily obtain a piece of knowledge upon plant dynamics beforehand, we intend to extend the method such that multiple control systems can be efficiently designed using the knowledge. We apply the new idea to the cart-pole balancing problem with variable length of the pole. The simulation experiments lead us to the conclusion that the new attempt can reduce the manpower to design the candidate controllers for adaptive multiple control systems.

  • The top-down construction method is an excavation and substructure construction method by excavating earth and building slabs from the ground level to the bottom of a building. The top-down method can be categorized into several types by its process and other technical details. Some of commonly used top-down methods in Korea today are S.O.G., N.S.T.D., and S.P.S. Among these, one method is chosen depending on construction field conditions, cost, construction time and so on. This study explores several factors that may affect the selection of a top-down method. This paper reports preliminary survey results with 54 top-down construction experts and comparison results of 5 top-down construction sites.

  • As robotic technologies have become more actively utilized to automate many construction tasks, they have been able to improve the construction productivity, quality, and workers safety on site. A new system, of which Robot-based Construction Automation (RCA), is currently being developed, and RCA systems consist of Construction Factory(CF), Automated Bolting Robots, and Climbing Hydraulic Robot. Especially. Climbing Hydraulic robot system is very important to RCA systems because of function as lifting the Construction Factory. In this paper, We validate safety of Climbing Hydraulic Robot system before application for real building construction.

  • This research proposed the Direct Construction System for construction corporations as a strategy intended to perform cause analysis of construction technician shortage matter and solve resulting problems, and in view of the outcomes from the application of this system to the projects and workshops, it was verified that unsteady employment, lack of career prospect, and conditions of work environment can be resolved. In addition, from corporations' perspective, it is considered that by clarifying the abovementioned three problems, fundamental complications of construction administration, quality control, safety supervision, and cost management were settled, concluding forthcoming advancement of domestic construction business quality fell far behind developed counties.

Technological Trends in Safety Solutions for Construction Equipment (건설장비의 안전 솔루션 기술 동향)

  • Negative perceptions of the construction industry are prevalent due to the high accident rate at construction sites. Recently, with the gradual change of the perception in industrial safety, the demand for improving the safety level of construction sites has increased. Accordingly, the government is preparing various safety-level measures such as the Serious Disaster Punishment Act and support for industrial safety management costs. In addition, private industries are incorporating various safety equipment in the sites. This paper introduced the current status of safety sensors and solutions currently applied to construction equipment and industrial vehicles. The technology development direction suitable for construction equipment was introduced by comparing the operating environment of automobiles and construction equipment. and the need to develop performance standards to protect and revitalize the market for safety devices for construction equipment was suggested.
