  • Currently, in spite of continual efforts the information utility of construction industry has low-efficiency for the other industry. These problems arose from the erroneous efforts for the information utility of construction industry. Because it left out of consideration of the construction characters, which are the center of construction sites, and this information system was directly introduced and operated from the other industry. Also, we can point out mistake that the existing information systems disregarded using facility in the fixing of these problems. Therefore, this study describes a new process, which purposes to build and utilize construction information management system as using Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) of the mobile communication concept, to solve the problems of existing construction information management system.

  • In this era of smart convergent environment wherein all industries are converged on ICT infrastructure and industries and cultures come together, the information and communication construction business is becoming more important. For the information and communication construction business to continue growing, it is very important to ensure that technical manpower is stably supplied. To date, however, there has been no theoretically methodical analysis of manpower supply and demand in the information and communications construction business. The need for the analysis of manpower supply and demand has become even more important after the government announced the road map for the development of construction business in December 2014 to seek measures to strengthen the human resources capacity based on the mid- to long-term manpower supply and demand analysis. As such, this study developed the manpower supply and demand forecast model for the information and communications construction business and presented the result of manpower supply and demand analysis. The analysis suggested that an overdemand situation would arise since the number of graduates of technical colleges decreased beginning 2007 because of fewer students entering technical colleges and due to the restructuring and reform of departments. In conclusion, it cited the need for the reeducation of existing manpower, continuous upgrading of professional development in the information and communications construction business, and provision of various policy incentives.

  • As information and communication technology advances driving the rapid evolution of e-commerce and e-business becomes on effective marketing means for both business and institutions, the industry deals with these changes and has a profound, positive impact on production and operations management. But the construction industry falls behind compared with other industries in productivity, informationalization, automatization and globalization. Especially even though the informationalization is inevitable in any developing society, a number of construction industries can hardly cope with it properly. As the construction industry gets informationalized and advanced, the introduction of PMIS (Project Management Information System) is making progress actively for the effective construction project control and productivity improvement in construction. With the government officials' political promotion and the rising desire for construction informationalization of enterprises, many are attempting to develop integrated systems or to replace a previous system with a more advanced alternative. Construction Industry, however, has the peculiar properties that the period for the completion of construction is limited and on top of that, most of its data processing systems are seen as being an early stage in the design of management information systems. As a result, there are extremely few applications in the construction industry. In this paper, we propose the PMIS system based on new model 4CM that improves on previous models.

  • Construction sites have various risk factors. There are various approaches to reduce safety accidents, but they have limitations to some extent. By utilizing the wireless communication technology of IT and the rapidly developing image processing technology, it will be possible to reduce accidents at the construction site if risk factors are identified and actively responded to. Therefore, in this study, a system that can detect risk factors of construction sites in advance is constructed, and a system is proposed to discover and respond to risk factors of construction sites using OpenCV for the purpose of real-time computer vision.

  • Using the radio wave, RFID(: Radio Frequency IDentification) wirelessly transmits the unique information saved in a tag attached on the specific object. In the construction area, the trend in using RFID for managing the input and inventory of the construction materials is upward. General management systems for the construction materials have only a function of identifying the tag attached on the construction materials, but the management system with a function of identifying and managing the location information of the construction materials employing RFID, for reusing it, is not actively developed. For the efficient reuse of the construction materials, in this paper, we propose the RFID system with a function of estimating and saving the location information of the specific construction materials, based on the estimated distances between the particular subs and reader. The proposed system consists of RFID reader, distance estimate, communication, and memory units.

  • An architect creates his/her design to meet owner's requirements. Floor plans, perspective drawings, and scale models are used in order for the owner to choose the design. The tools are a little helpful for communication between the architect and the owner in case the owner does not know architecture. The scale models are good, but it is hard to make scale models while design is in progress. 3D CAD is a good tool for communication, but it is time-consuming and requires high-performance computer hardware. Augmented reality is able to show 3D virtual models that are updated by the architect with smart devices such as a smart phone and a tablet PC. The owner frequently reviews the updated design anytime anywhere. This study proposes a method to use augmented reality for architectural design and construction management. The method supports the communication between the owner, the architect and the contractor to review updated designs, and to complete the building project. 3D models expressed in augmented reality are created using SketchUp with 2D drawings for building construction. An Android application implementing augmented reality is developed by Qualcomm Vuforia and Unity on smart devices. Drawings as markers and 3D models are connected in Unity. And functions that temporarily hide unnecessary parts can be implemented in C# programming language. If an owner, an architect, or a contractor looks at a smart phone on a 2D drawing, he/she can identify building elements such as 3D buildings or columns on a screen. This can help communication between them.

  • As high-speed class broadband communication services have come in earnest broadband communication services are well regularized, utilizing not only wire but also wireless. One of wireless communication systems named B-WLL system, which provides high-speed broadband communication services, gives users inconvenience because it utilizes wire in the service area. In order to overcome this drawback, local wireless construction with ubiquitous environment has been considered in a new service demand area. We bring forth a scheme of cell Planning with 2 GHz frequency for wireless LAN construction which provides connection and mobility with no restrictions in time and locations.

  • Background: Health and safety (H&S) on a construction site can either make or break a contractor, if not properly managed. The usage of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for H&S on construction execution has the potential to augment practitioner understanding of their sites, and by so doing reduce the probability of accidents. This research explores BIM usage within the construction industry in relation to H&S communication. Methods: In addition to an extensive literature review, a questionnaire survey was conducted to gather information on the embedment of H&S planning with the BIM environment for site practitioners. Results: The analysis of responses indicated that BIM will enhance the current approach of H&S planning for construction site personnel. Conclusion: From the survey, toolbox talk will have to be integrated with the BIM environment, because it is the predominantly used procedure for enhancing H&S issues within construction sites. The advantage is that personnel can visually understand H&S issues as work progresses during the toolbox talk onsite.

  • As the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution arrives and the culture of contact-less was established due to the long-term COVID-19, the construction industry is striving to develop smart home services to expand the scope of information and communications technology (ICT) to provide convenience to residents. However, various defects are occurring in information and communications technology facilities in apartments, and related research is lacking. In this study, case studies and research methods of related prior studies are analyzed as a basis for identifying the types and causes of defects that occur in information and communications technology facilities. To analyze various studies, we divided them into studies on smart home Internet of Things (IoT), information and communications technology construction of apartments, and investigated their features and limitations. Plus, future research will be conducted on apartments within 10 years of completion among apartments completed by domestic construction companies to supplement the limitations of prior research. In addition, we will prepare basic data on defects of ICT construction by analyzing the major causes of defect types through the analysis of defect types and frequency by detailed work type of information and communications technology construction.
