Conflict resolution in decision-making groups is studied using a System Dynamics model. The model is developed using a grounded-theory approach. Some preliminary results are shown. The results seem to be in line with much empirical research done in the management literature about conflict and conflict resolution at the group level of analysis. Ideas for further research are discussed.
This study tried to examine the conflict relationships and solutions among the members of a hospital structure, a structure composed of various experts and professionals. As the situations causing conflicts are very different depending on the sizes or structural types of hospitals, the samples were collected from total 235 people of 17 medical specialists, 46 residents, 74 nurses and 74 medical technicians, 40 administrators in a university hospital for clearing conflict relationships. The result showed that a hospital had separately different the conflict causes according to all types of occupations. That is, there were various conflict relationships such as the conflict with the medical specialists, with residents, with nurses, and with administrators, and resulted in respectively different causes from those conflict relationships. In addition to, looking into the top of conflict causes, the respondents in all occupations attributed the conflict with medical specialists to "authoritative attitude" of medical specialists, and attributed the rest types of conflict relationships to "lack knowledge of the work". And then, in terms of the top of conflict solutions according to the occupational types in the hospital structure, medical specialists and administrators chose competition & cooperation, and the way for residents, nurses and medical technicians was situation-avoidance. The competition & cooperation type, negotiation type and situation-avoidance type, among solution types, were little difference regardless of occupations, but in case of work-avoidance type, there were significant differences according to residents, nurses, medical technicians, administrators, and medical specialists in the order.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of work-family conflict and spousal support resources on parenting stress among working mothers with pre-school children. This study involved a total of 232 working mothers with children enrolled in child care centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do as conducting a survey. First, the higher the work-family conflict (inter-role conflict caused by the impact of work on family life), the higher the family-work conflict (inter-role conflict caused by the impact of family life on work). Moreover, the lower the level of spousal support resources (emotional spousal support resources, instrumental spousal resources), the higher the work-family conflict and family-work conflict. The level of parenting stress was higher in working mothers experiencing greater work-family conflict and family-work conflict both and lower levels of spousal support resources for parenting. Second, the number of children and the amount of work-family conflict and instrumental spousal support resources had a statistically significant impact on parenting stress. Thus, the higher the number of children, the greater the work-family conflict, and the lower the level of instrumental spousal support resources, the higher the level of parenting stress. The findings of this study highlight the relative effects of role conflicts between work and family and of spousal support resources on parenting stress in working mothers. Husbands' being involved in parenting, in particular, was identified as an important support function for healthy child-rearing by successfully combining career and family responsibilities.

The purpose of this study was to identify perceived work-family conflict of married working women and men with children under 12 years. Specifically, This study attempts to examine the differences of relative influence between objective time variables and subjective satisfaction variables unlike previous research. For research, this study used the data of 1012 working men and women from the 3rd Nation survey of Korean Family in 2015. The main results of this study were as following. First, Business hours and cognition of enough leisure time had more relative effect of work${\rightarrow}$family conflict than any other variable. On the other hand, leisure time on weekdays had the effect of family${\rightarrow}$work conflict with women and men. Second, gender differences of work${\rightarrow}$family conflict and family${\rightarrow}$work conflict were identified. In work${\rightarrow}$family conflict, men were influenced cognition of enough leisure time, women were influenced couple conversation time and employment status unlike men. In family${\rightarrow}$work conflict, men were not influenced subjective satisfaction variables. But women were influenced satisfaction with division of child care. Third, in family${\rightarrow}$work conflict, the addition of objective time variables in Model of men resulted in an increased $R^2$-value, but in work${\rightarrow}$family conflict and family${\rightarrow}$work conflict, the addition of subjective satisfaction variables in Model of women resulted in an increased $R^2$-value.
The major purpose of this research was to investigate the causal relationships among working wives' work-family conflict, socialization of housework, and home management satisfaction. the double ABCX model of family stress and adaptation provided the theoretical framework for this study. the data were recruited from working wives who had more than one pre-school child. The respondents were asked to complete the self-administered questionnaires, and the responses of 536 working wives were used for the final analysis. basically Cronbach's α to the reliability of major variables, frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviation, pearson's correlation coefficients, and LISREL 7 program were performed to test the research model. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. The frequency of work-family conflict was affected by the flexibility of work time and wives' income. 2. The severity of wok-family conflict was directly influenced by the frequency of the conflict, the flexibility of work-time, and wives' education level. 3. The variables influencing the degree of socialization of housework were found to be the frequency and the severity of work-family conflict, wives' education, and the degree of husband's participation in housework. 4. The higher degree of home management satisfaction was associated with the higher level of family member's health status, the greater degree of the flexibility of work-time, and the greater degree of husband's participation in household labor.
Purposes: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between male nurse's gender stereotype, role conflict and organizational commitment. Methodology: Data were collected from 169 male hospital nurses from August, 2016 until September. The Male nurse's gender stereotype, role conflict and organizational commitment were measured using a structured questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/win 23.0 for windows. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation were used. Findings: There were statistically significant differences in the gender stereotype by general characteristics such as age and military duty. There were statistically significant differences in the role conflict by general characteristics such as education level and position. There were statistically significant differences in the organizational commitment by general characteristics such as the hospital's location and hospital type. Gender stereotype and role conflict had no significant correlation (r=-0.050, p=.516). A statistically significant positive correlation was detected between male nurse's gender stereotype and 'continuance commitment' (r=0.272, p<.001). A statistically significant positive correlation was detected between male nurse's role conflict and 'continuance commitment' (r=0.178, p=.021). Practical implications: The result of this study indicate that to reduce role conflict of workplace environment and induce the affective commitment of male nurses within a female-centered nursing organization should be sought.
This study investigates the relationships among emotional support from social network, ego-resiliency, and role conflict of teachers in kindergartens and day care centers. The subjects were 192 teachers who worked in kindergartens or child care centers in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province. Questionnaires, which require self-report by teachers, were used to investigate the emotional support from social network, ego-resiliency, and role conflict. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation, single and multiple regressions, using SPSS Win 15.0. The results are as follows. (1) Emotional support from social network and ego-resiliency was negatively associated with the role conflict of teachers in kindergartens and day care centers. (2) Emotional support from social network was positively associated with ego-resiliency. (3) Emotional support from social network partly exerted indirect effects on role conflict mediated by ego-resiliency. But direct effect of emotional support from social network on role conflict was more than the indirect effect. These results indicate that a higher level of emotional support from social network is more likely to lower role conflict of teachers.
Purpose: The results of prior studies investigating main effects between diversity and team performance are neither clear nor consistent. This study seeks to provide more evidence for a direct link between these two. The present study also attempts to close a gap in the literature by examining conflict as a moderator of the relationship between diversity and team performance. Methods: As suggested by Williams and O'Reilly(1998), this study examines the effects of perception levels of three specific types of diversity (social category diversity, value diversity, and informational diversity) and two contextual moderators (task conflict and relationship conflict) on team performance. Results: The results show that perception levels of all three types of diversity are significantly related to team performance in the current sample of 313. Results also indicate that relationship conflict significantly interacted with the perception levels of diversity in relating to team performance. Results for task conflict, however, fails to support the hypothesis. Conclusion: The results suggest that the effects of diversity on team functioning depend on how diversity is perceived by team members, rather than actual diversity seen by team members. Theoretical and practical implications are reviewed, and limitations of the study and suggestions for future research are addressed.
This study conducted an empirical analysis of the effects of job characteristics on work-family conflict relation and quality of life, as well as moderating effects in accordance with operation type, by targeting 245 dietitian/cooks working for contract foodservice companies. The results of this study are as follows. First, the autonomy and feedback had negative (-) effects on work-family conflict while functional diversity had positive (+) effects on work-family conflict. Job identity and job importance had no relation with work-family conflict. Second, work-family conflict had negative (-) effects on job satisfaction, work-family relation, job support, general happiness, and job environment while having positive (+) effects on job stress. Third, in all paths except for the path with effects of work-family conflict on job stress, there were no differences between the group of shops operating 365 days and the group of shops operating 5 days a week. It would be helpful to the effective operation of human resources by emphasizing the necessity of differentiated management for companies with shops operating 365 days and shops operating 5 days a week, as well as managing employees' job characteristic factors, work-family conflict, and even quality of life.
This study analysed what effects conscious role conflict and conscious self-efficacy have on job satisfaction for hospital coordinators working in medical institutions. In order to study this issue, questionnaires were distributed to 154 hospital coordinators. The results from analysing the effects of role conflict and self-efficacy on job satisfaction are as follows: 1) Role conflict and job satisfaction are negatively correlated. The mean score for hospital coordinators' role conflict was 2.82, which was lower than average. Among subfactors for role conflict, personal role conflict had a significant effect on job satisfaction, while role ambiguity had no effect on job satisfaction. 2) The mean score for hospital coordinators' self-efficacy was 3.42, which was slightly higher than average. Other mean scores were as follows: job attitude 3.83, interpersonal skills 3.54, administrative knowledge 3.30, and medical treatment knowledge 3.02. Among subfactors for self-efficacy, job attitude and adminstrative knowledge had significant effects on job satisfaction, while interpersonal skills and medical treatment knowledge had no effect on job satisfaction (p < 0.01). In conclusion various hospital administration techniques, related job training and education needs to be given when introducing a hospital coordinator in order to strengthen the competitiveness of medical institutions. The hospital coordinators need to clearly understand their role so that they can settle into the system at the hospital and develop their job environment.
