Groundwater in waste landfills can be contarninated by leachates produced from wastes and flow down toward rivers. These accidents are easily discovered in uncontrolled landfill sites. In this study, applications for controlling groundwater pollution and protecting river pollution were studied using installation of cut-off walls around the waste landfill. Analyses for the efficiency and applicability of the cut-off wall were made under environmental, economical anc technical considerations. Cut-off walls were installed at the upgradient and the downgradient. prediction analyses for the hydraulic head distribution over the site were made for concerning with the final cover and without the final cover. Also, the hydraulic head distribution was predicted with well-pumping on both cases, upgradient cut-off wall and downgradient cut-off wall.
When milling concave corners, cutter load increases momentarily and fluctuates severely due to concentration and uneven distribution of material stock. This abrupt change of cutter load produces undesirable machining results such as wavy machined surface and cutter breakage. An important factor for studying cutter load in 2.5D pocket milling is the instantaneous Radial Depth of Cut (RDC). However, previous work on RDC under different corner-cutting conditions is lacking. In this different corner shapes. In our work, we express RDC mathematically in terms of the instantaneous cutter engage angle which is defined as Cutter Swept Angle (CSA). An analytical approach for modeling CSA is explained. Finally, examples are shown to demonstrate that the proposed CSA modeling method can give an accurate prediction of cutter load pattern at cornering cut.

Cut Slope Management System(CSMS) is a systematic maintenance and management system designed to prevent the collapse of cut slopes located along national roads. In order to implement safe road operation system, KICT has started the inventory of cut slopes and developed a cut slope database since 2006. Cut slope database management system using GIS technology and navigation system was developed as a Information Technology application. Through the Cut Slope Navigation System(SLOPE-Navi.), the previously developed database was checked and verified. The converted cut slope inventory data and field investigation data of 28,707 cut slopes were loaded on the navigation map. We consider that the Cut Slope Navigation Management System can be useful as in-situ system, which can be systematic and effective DB management and operation to prevent cut slope collapses and establish a remedial countermeasure as mitigation concerning disasters.
Objective: The timed up and go (TUG) test is method used to determine the functional mobility of persons with stroke. Its reliability, validity, reaction rate, fall prediction, and psychological characteristics concerning ambulation ability have been validated. However, the relationship between TUG performance and community ambulation ability is unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the TUG performance time could indicate community ambulation levels (CAL) differentially in persons with chronic stroke. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Eighty-seven stroke patients had participated in this study. Based on the self-reporting survey results on the difficulties experienced when walking outdoors, the subjects were divided into the independent community ambulation (ICA) group (n=35) and the dependent community ambulation group (n=52). Based on the area under the curve (AUC), the discrimination validity of the TUG performance time was calculated for classifying CAL. The Binomial Logistic Regression Model was utilized to produce the likelihood ratio of selected TUG cut-off values for the distinguishing of community ambulation ability. Results: The selected TUG cut-off values and the area under the curve were <14.87 seconds (AUC=0.871, 95% confidence interval=0.797-0.945), representing a mid-level accuracy. Concerning the likelihood ratio of the selected TUG cut-off value, it was found that the group with TUG performance times shorter than 14.87 seconds showed a 2.889 times higher probability of ICA than those with a TUG score of 14.87 seconds or longer (p<0.05). Conclusions: The TUG can be viewed as an assessment tool that is capable of classifying CAL.

In general, slope failures are occurred by the interaction among various factors(slope shape, hydraulic condition, and geologic condition, etc.). In the area where has a heavy rainfall, a great portion of slope failures are caused by seepage increasement with suitable failure condition. Many studies have been performed to find the cause of large-scale failures. In this study, three Cut-Slope failures caused by typhoon 'MAEMI' were investigated to find out factors causing large-scale slope failures. It was confirmed in this research that major reason of slope failures was the weak layer working along with other unstable factor. The large-scaled investigation concerning Cut-Slope will be needed to find out the Weak Layer.
Concerning to Taeku city subway construction project(1-4 site), the original design was adapted NATM Tunnel method to the 8 meter thickness of overburden. Surveyor checked sity and design material and finally decided to change into Open Cut method because overburden is not only below 1 1/2 times thickness of comparate Tunnel width but there is no traffic conjunction in job site.
The fashion industry that perceived the severity of environmental pollution, has sought various methods of sustainable fashion. However, most of the businesses paid attention to the development of materials using industrial waste, or vegan material. Thus, this study aims to present the methods for improvement in creativity for inversely developing the design from patterns and present new approaches by applying the contrarian development of proto to class under the limited condition of material concerning general design, selection of material, and production of sample. In the case of three student teams enrolled in the first semester of the second year, the fabric and used clothing donated by industry were used as material. The whole cut for cutting a single fabric in connected state, and Zero Wastes Design within a rectangular frame of fabric, upcycling of used clothes, and cutting out of Geometric Form are suggested. The team(A) produced a zero-wastes coat and whole-cut Pancho that could be variously represented. The team(B) produced two kinds of asymmetric dress by utilizing used check-patterned shirts through upcycling. The team(C) utilized the fabric in geometric forms such as rectangle, trapezoid, and atypical figure by drawing design within donated fabrics. The items were a dress, blouse, and skirt. Consequently, an opportunity for both academia and industry to present more concrete methods for sustainable fashion and deeply perceive the sustainable fashion is presented along with novel methods for creation by carrying out the composition of pattern and design at the same time.
Analysis of slope behavior concerning the structural characteristics of field rock mass can be processed by virtue of borehole information of joint orientation and position acquired from DOM drilled core. Anticipated sliding potential of pre-failed rock slope is analyzed and the regional slope instability is investigated by inspecting the hazardous joints and blocks the traces of which is projected on the cut-face. Cross section has been set at the center of rock slope and the traces of both joints and tetrahedral blocks, which potentially can induce the slope failure, are drawn to investigate the failure modes and the triggering mechanism. Automated monitoring system has been established to measure the slope movement and especially, inclinometer has been installed inside DOM borehole to analyze the slope movement by considering the internal rock structure. Algorithms for predicting the slope failure time have been reviewed and the significance of heavy rainfall on the slope behavior has been investigated.
This study aims to conceptually identify the circular causal-relationship which is structured between downsizing and technological innovation in organization. First, through the literature review concerning downsizing and (technological) innovations, we have outlined the conceptual building blocks and research boundaries in this field. Second, we used system thinking method to accomplish our research purpose. The research findings are as follows. First, the promotion of financial resources by downsizing have trade-off relations that have negative of effects in short terms, but positive effects in long time. Second, workforce reduction by downsizing usually has negative influence on employees. Third, capital reduction by downsizing generates not only the climates of cost-cut but also the fact that although the climates may increase economic performance in short terms, it may interrupt technological innovations in long terms. In conclusion, this theses suggests that the relationship of downsizing and technological innovations have complex causal and feedback structures. Therefore, the results of this thesis propose that the argument or practices of downsizing with partial emphasis is very dangerous. Finally some limitations are also discussed.

The crossing construction under railroad have two methods which are cut and cover and trenchless method. first, cut and cover method is an extremely limited method concerning non-running time. Whereas, trenchless method is free from restriction such as train speed and running time, and has the strong points of safe and rapid construction. Front Jacking method, one of the trenchless methods, is frequently applied recently due to its stability during construction and vantage of assuring schedule reliability. The procedure is that after minimizing interlocking friction with structure and earth pressure due to jacking the small steel tube, pulling the precast box manufactured at the field in the ground using PC strand and hydraulic Jack. This method is able to be applied regardless of section size and length of box and condition of ground. And that is also pro-environmental. This paper presents the case of Daejeon E. W. perforate Road Project applied with the Front Jacking method.
