  • This paper aims to study on the periodical competition, the program, the jury organization, the reward, and copyright applied to the buildings which were constructed with architectural design competition performed in European and American region between 19c and 20c. The results of this study are as follows; 1. Befor 1900 Period, the type of buildings added to the competition program; between 1900 period and 1950 period, the works of strong nationality and rich local color were preferred; After 1950 period, the design drawings of high symbol and function were chosen 2. There are three types of design competitions: the open design competition, the invited and limited design competition, and the idea design competition. The open design competition has been most often made. 3. The juries were, most of all, composed of professional architects over 30 percent. 4. The program was written about building scale and appointments, described what form drawings, brief notes and air perspective wood have to be submitted. For instance, the use of colour was not permitted in the drawings, as this might possibly mislead the jurors. 5. The reward was given to the winners; the copyright was given to the first prize winner. 6. The standard of entry's qualification was mostly architect 7, Entry term was from a minimum month to a maximum year after annoncement of competition, it was approximetly 63% between 4 months and 8 months. I am convinced that architect gets freedom of pure creation and joy of society service through competition, architect justifies his profession and keep his useful and creative effort to society constantly, as long as the competition exists.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a creative problem-solving competition program in order to provide an opportunity for junior high schoolers to solve problems on the basis of technological hands-on activities by deploying their creative problem-solving skills and to foster their cooperative and challenging spirits by tackling the given problems in group. Relevant literature and competition programs were analyzed to develop a junior high school competition program for creative problem solving on the basis of technological hands-on activities. This study was implemented in three stages: preparing, developing and applying. In the preparation stage, the content structure of technology and the fields of corresponding hands-on activities were investigated, and creativity theories were analyzed. Besides, domestic and foreign creativity-related competition programs were checked. In the development stage, an overview of the nature, object, question making and evaluation of a competition program for creative problem solving on the basis of technological hands-on activities was presented, and a program was developed, which consisted of three stages: planning, operating and evaluating. In the application stage, every student in a selected junior high school participated in the competition program. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the competition program developed in this study intended to offer a chance for every junior high schooler to solve problems on the basis of technological hands-on activities to display their creative problem-solving skills. Second, the program was designed to include planning, operating and evaluation stages, after the nature and object of the competition program and in which way question making and evaluation should be fulfilled were determined. Third, the competition program dealt with five areas according to the content structure of technology: manufacturing technology, construction technology, transportation technology, communication technology and biotechnology. And questions for each area and student worksheets were developed. Fourth, the program was utilized in a junior high school to give an example.

  • This study examines the process of internalization and elaboration of the logic of competition in the post-IMF era through the genealogy of the survival program. Post-IMF is based on disaster reality, which reveals a specific emotional structure related to the competition, if the narrative of overcoming the IMF event finds narrative models that can be sufficiently reconciled between communityism and individual success. This study also examines the process of disaster preparedness through survival form and narrative structure embedded in such form. Thus, this study reconstructed the diachronic change to track the change of the survival program and the subsequent narrative change. Relative to the time of the healing-mentor, the survival program seems to be declining, but rather seems to have created a new transition through the logic of self-development contained in the healing-mentoring discourse. this logic leads to be ghettoized hierarchy of preferences. Now, the survival program is to perform fantastic surrogate satisfaction by delegating competition to a narrow self-directed area rather than to a big empathy within the community.

  • The Seoul Woods Design Competition in 2003 was one of the most remarkable events within the field of landscape architecture in Korea since the Yeo-Ui Do Square Park Design Competition in the mid 1990s. This study examines the overall procedure, evaluations and competition guidelines for the Seoul Forest Park Design Competition and identifies the implications and issues related to Korean landscape architecture. In addition this study analyzes the design concepts, strategies and spatial composition, and programs of five selected design worts including the best awarded work. This study also examines key features and issues from the five selected design works. Finally, this study examines a new trend of landscape design in Korea, which can be observed at the Seoul Forest Park Design Competition. In this study, it is argued that the Seoul Forest Park Design Competition had significant implications for landscape architecture in Korea. Firstly, the Seoul Forest Park Design Competition was the greatest project in Korea in terms of its size. Therefore, it shows us an enhanced status of Korean landscape architecture. Secondly, the Seoul Forest Park Design Competition provided a good opportunity to redefine the concept of 'park' in Korean modern society. Thirdly, through the Seoul Forest Park Design Competition, we can observe a dramatic change and developments in Korean landscape design since the 1990s, as well as the present status of landscape design competitions in Korea. And this study identifies an emphasis of a program in design, an evolution in ecological approach an diminishment in concern of Korean tradition, and a change in design methods and media, which are some aspects of Korean contemporary landscape design observed at the Seoul Forest Park Design Competition.

  • This paper proposes a management system for the educational program of production managers on the basis of value co-creation by the learner and the instructor. The program combines an intelligent knowledge-based approach with the kaizen activity program. The program helps individuals acquire knowledge and skills to ensure the total rather than the partial optimization of processes and operations facilitating continuous improvement in the workplace. To achieve these goals, the program uses models of a learning process and a swing of enlightenment. In addition, the program is supported by a framework of academic, business people, consultants, and government officers. The program was developed using an instructional design approach. This paper discusses the process of developing and managing the educational program between 2006 and 2012 as well as the results obtained.

  • Purpose of this paper is to research about new building type of Korean library and suggest the design of Library which based on the building type changes. This research is based on the idea that change of building type could be derived from Architects' designs. So, we analyzed space programs of Gunpo Library competition, redefined the space programs and suggested the direction of building type changes with program changes through design processes. The conclusions of this research are follows; first, we suggested new zoning system in library building design that is consisted of three separate building based on each building's own functions. Second, new zoning and library design would be helpful to making plan about library building competition. The method that we tried at this projec is useful to other complex building designs which have necessities to redefine building type.

  • Currently co-work programs between industries and engineering schools play an important role for mutual interests, win-win strategy. Industries can develop new technologies through the human resources and facilities in school and schools are able to have research achievements by applying their own theoretical abilities to real field of industries's projects. However most co-work programs between industries and engineering schools mainly focus on programs such as research projects with graduate research lab, on-site training for job and training program for field engineers. And more it is difficult for schools to make co-work programs targeted engineering education for undergraduate school students because of many constraints such as planing program, budget and indifference of companies. Therefore this paper introduces LG Electronics Display Idea Competition hosted by LG Display Division in Kumi, S. Korea and present what benefits to both school and company made through this program and unique model of co-work program for engineering education between school and company in country.

  • Under the establishment and operating regulations of school presented only minimum standard for the founding of the school. Therefore, It is intended to suggest the reasonable space standard of the school facility, through comparison & analysis of facility standard in each city and provincial education office. Especially, The facilities standard of Chungcheongbuk-do Office Of Education has been exceeded standardization of architectural space which is proposed the Ministry of Education, and they has made the various learning space reflected creative ideas by designing all of the new school competition since 2000. In order to deal with reacting the changing method of studying like as the examples of Middle & High school in Chungcheongbuk-do, they need to set aside the enough required area for a head of students and the common space which is more than 40% in the total area according to the various learning space, securing the supporting facilities, and break & movement of the students. Moreover, Each of the city and provincial education offices are needed to establish the standardization of proper area for space organization of the planned school throughout upcoming competition.
