The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences in color, pattern, and texture of functional materials of outdoor clothing according to new senior women's psychological comfort. The data were collected from 163 female respondents aged 55-64 living in Busan. The results of the study are as follows. First, both the high and low psychological comfort groups preferred soft material the most. The high psychological comfort group particularly preferred soft textures and highly evaluated textured material in general. Second, both groups mostly preferred plain patterns while the high psychological comfort group preferred the dot pattern more. Third, in terms of colors, the high psychological comfort group preferred navy and purple, while the low psychological comfort group preferred brown. As to achromatic colors, both groups preferred black the most with the high psychological comfort group preferred gray and white more than the other group. Fourth, the high psychological comfort group preferred colors and patterns of clothing that made one look the most slimming, while the low psychological comfort group strongly preferred colors and patterns of clothes. Therefore, our results suggest that new senior women have a strong interest in outdoor clothing, not only in terms of textile functions, but also having interest in textile designs. In particular, the new silver women value psychological comfort in colors more than patterns of textile design.
This paper examines how the cinematic representation of the Japanese military "comfort women" stimulates 'imagination' in the realm of everyday life and in the memory of the masses, creating a common awareness and affect. The history of the Japanese military "comfort women" was hidden for a long time, and it was not until the 1990s that it entered the field of public recognition. Such a transition can be attributed to the external and internal chronopolitics that made possible the testimony of the victims and the discourse of the "comfort women" issue. It shows the peculiar status of the comfort women history as 'politics of time'. In the same vein, the cinematic representations of the Japanese military "comfort women" can be found in similar chronopolitics. The 'comfort women' films have shown the dual time frame of the continuity and discontinuity of the 'silence'. In Korean film history, the chronotope of the reproduction of "comfort women" can be divided into four phases: 1) the fictional representations of "comfort women" before the 1990s 2) documentaries in the late 1990s as the work of testimony and history writing, 3) melodramatic transformation in the feature films in the 2000s, and 4) the diffusion of media and categories. The purpose of this article is to focus on the first phase and the third phase in which the issue of 'comfort women' is represented in the category of popular fiction films. While the "comfort women" representations before 1990 were strictly adhering to the framework of commercial movies and pursued the sexual exploitation of "comfort women" history, the recent films since the 2000s are experimenting with various attempts in the style of popular imagination. Especially, the emergence of 'comfort women' feature films in the 2000s, such as Spirit's Homecoming, I Can Speak, and Herstory, raise various questions as to whether we are "properly" aware of issues and how to remember and present the "cultural memory" of comfort women. Also, focusing on the cinematic representation strategies of the 2000s "comfort women", this article discusses the popular politics of melodrama, the representation of victims and violence, and the feature of 'comfort women' as meta-memory. As a melodramatic imagination and meta-memory for the historical trauma, the "comfort women" drama shows the historical, political, and aesthetic gateways to which the "comfort women" problem must pass. As we have seen in recent fiction films, the issue of "comfort women" goes beyond transnational relations between Korea and Japan; it demands a postcolonial task to dismantle the old colonial structure and explores a transnational project in which women's movements and human rights movements are linked internationally.
Purpose: This study was purposed to survey pain, efficacy, and comfort during the first stage of labor and to identify correlations among them. Method: The subjects were 116 laboring women who were admitted to a baby-friendly hospital recommended by UNICEF for breast feeding. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire composed of labor pain, labor efficacy, and labor comfort with 10 cm visual analog scale respectively. The data were analyzed by frequency, Pearson's correlation, and ANOVA. Result: Labor pain, labor efficacy, and labor comfort in latent phase were positive correlation with them in active phase. The more pain, the less labor efficacy and the less comfort in latent phase. and the more pain, the less comfort in active phase. Labor efficacy was positively correlated with labor comfort in both phase. Lastly, women supported by their husbands had significantly higher labor pain than women supported by their mothers. Conclusion: The results suggest that nurses develop a labor efficacy program for pregnant women and their mothers or spouses.
Background: The aim of this planned research was to determine the comfort and anxiety levels of women with breast cancer receiving radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: This descriptive type study covered patients that applied to the radiation oncology breast polyclinic of our university hospital between January and May 2011. Patient Identification Form, Radiation Therapy Comfort Questionnaire (RTCQ), Spielberger State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) were completed and analysed. Results: The mean age of the women who participated in the study was $51.6{\pm}10.4$ years. Mean scores of women were $3.73{\pm}0.31$ for RTCQ, $29.1{\pm}5.88$ for SAI and $37.8{\pm}6.91$ for TAI. While the comfort levels of the women with breast cancer receiving radiotherapy were moderate, they experienced only low levels of anxiety. Conclusions: By determining the comfort level of the patient before radiotherapy, besides providing comfort in this direction, eliminating/minimizing anxiety and stress will positively affect radiotherapy application. More attention of nurses to this issue is to be recommended.
After the Korea-Japan comfort women's agreement, two films and were released with the audience's attention. Both films deal with the friendship of 'comfort women' girls. Unlike the existing 'comfort women' narratives, these two films are building a women's space based on a kind of sisterhood. The emergence of a new generation extends the story of personal friendship to the community level of sisterhood. In particular, suggests the possibility of a testimony that the 'comfort women' grandmother passes testimony to a new generation of women. In the cinematic present, it shows the possibility of feminist thinking of the 'comfort women' narrative. However, the representation of the colonial period does not deviate much from the existing patriarchal nationalistic viewpoint. It is typical that the 'comfort women' characters are still set with a pure and innocent girls of Chosun era.
Purpose: This study was to identify the effect of hand massage on comfort in women with gynecologic cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used for this study. Hand massage was provided to the experimental group for 5 min (2.5 min for each side) once on admission day, twice from the second day until the day before discharge, and once in the morning on discharge day. Results: Findings showed no significant differences in pre and post levels of general, physical, psycho-spiritual, social and environmental comfort. However, women's comfort levels in all domains were increased after the chemotherapy in the experimental group. Conclusion: Although there were some increases in women's comfort levels on all domains after the treatment, hand massage was not proved as a statistically useful nursing intervention in comforting women with gynecologic cancer. The results suggest that hand massage could be effective if it is applied longer than it was in this study. The future implications of hand massage in patients with various cancers are discussed.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between personality traits and clothing behavior of the normal and disabled females, and to find out the difference in clothing behavior of the two groups. Questionaires for clothing behavior were chosen from the items which had been used in previous studies, and the items were selected on the basis of Cronbach's Alpha Reliability Coefficient. Clothing behavior was composed of four variables: aesthetics; comfort; modesty; and satisfaction. For measurement of 3 personality traits (emotional stability, sociability, and superiority), a portion of 'Personality Inventory' b) Sangro Lee, Changjin Byeon, and Wuigyo Jin was used. Samples were 286 females in Seoul, of whom 110 were normal high school girls, 86 were norma1 college women, 41 were disabled high school girls, and 49 were disabled college women. The data were analyzed using F-test, F-test, and correlation coefficient. The results of the study were the followings: 1. There were meaningful relationships between personality traits and clothing behavior 1) Stability had negative relations to aesthetics and modesty and positive relation to satisfaction. In the case of the normal, stability had no relation to comfort, but in the case of the disabled, it had positive relation to comfort. 2) The sociability had positive relations to aesthetics and satisfaction. 3) The superiority had negative relation to modesty, it had positive relation to satisfaction. The superiority of the normal had negative relation to comfort, whereas the superiority of the disabled had positive relation to comfort. 2. There was a difference in the clothing aesthetics between the normal and the disabled. 3. In case of the normal, college women regarded comfort less important than high school girls. In case of the disabled, college women regarded comfort more important than high school girls. 4. In upper class, there was no difference on the clothing comfort between the normal and the disabled. But there was difference on comfort between the normal and the disabled in low class.
This paper examines how Japanese society produced and reproduced a distinctively gendered history and memories of the experience of WWII and colonialism in the postwar era. We argue that these gendered narratives, which were embedded in postwar debates about the Peace Constitution and comfort women, have engendered contradictions and made the historical conflicts with neighboring countries challenging to resolve. On the one hand, this deepens conflict, but on the other, it also generates stability in East Asia. After Japan's defeat in WWII, the American Occupation government created the Peace Constitution, which permanently "renounces war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes." The removal of the state's monopoly on violence - the symbol of masculinity - resulted in Japan's feminization. This feminization led to collective forgetting of prewar imperialism and militarism in postwar Japan. While collectively forgetting the wartime history of comfort women within these feminized narratives, the conservative movement to revise the Peace Constitution attempted to recover Japan's masculinity for a new, autonomous role in international politics, as uncertainty in East Asia increased. Ironically, however, this effort strengthened Japan's femininity because it involved forgetting Japan's masculine role in the past. This forgetting has undermined efforts to achieve masculine independence, thus reinforcing dependence on the United States. Recurrent debates about the Peace Constitution and comfort women have influenced how Japanese political elites and intellectual society have constructed distinctive social institutions, imagined foreign relations, and framed contemporary problems, as indicated in their gendered restructuring of history.

Recently the number of women's hospitals of a small scale are increasing in seoul and the other cities although the surroundings of these sites are so inferior. Those hospitals need the space of comfort as like family home. This study suggests that the encirclement space is one of the design methods to make comfort to patients. The encirclement is the form of hugging a baby to a mother's arms. Analysing six woman hospitals, encirclement space is categorized about the six types of square, open square, right-angled, linear, dispersed, etc. The characteristics of "right-angled" is featured as the form of L, and "square" type is characterized as the relationship of functional circulation among doctors, nurses and patients. And all types are organized as the relationship between the encirclement space and the enclosed space about how the functional space and the comfort space are made up. The properties of encirclement space are appeared by the interactions about function, circulation, sight, form, access, recognition through transparent, three-dimensional experience, etc. Encirclement space is recommended as a vital factor to make comfort space for designing women's hospital in city.
The purpose of this study was to investigate clothing behavior of women in Dae Jeon and to find out the relationship between clothing behavior and occupations. Measures selected for this study was‘Creekmore Scales of Eight Clothing Variables’, (Creekmore, 1966). The questionnaires were distributed to women in Dae Jeon including teachers, women working in a government office, women working in a company, nurses, women working in a bank, women working in a department store and the business center, technicians, women working in a merry making place, and house wives. For statistical analyses of the data from 400 respondents, F-test, and t-test were used. The results were as follows: 1. There were partially significant relationship between clothing behavior and occupations. The significant variables were modesty, comfort, approval, and dependence among the eight clothing variables. a) The group of highest interest in modesty and comfort was house wives and the group of lowest interest was women working in a merry making place. b) The group of highest interest in approval was women working in a merry making place and the group of lowest interest was women working in a bank. c) The group of highest interest in dependence was teachers and the group of lowest interest was nurses. 2. Partially significant differences were found in clothing behavior between a working women and house wives: The house wives were more interest in modesty, comfort, management. 3. Partially significant difference were found in clothing behavior between White-collar workers and Blue-collar workers were more interest in attention, approval, interest.
