대학생의 외모관리 기대가치와 뷰티관리행동 간의 관계에서 외모자신감의 조절효과 (The Moderating Effect of Confidence in Appearance in the Relationship Between Expected Value of Appearance Management and Beauty Management Behavior of College Students)

  • This study aims to investigate the moderating effect of appearance confidence in the relationship between the expected value of appearance management and beauty management behavior of college students. For data collection, 300 questionnaires were distributed among the students of a 4-year university in Gwangju, Republic of Korea from April 12 to 22, 2022; 273 copies were collected, and 259 copies were used as the final sample. SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the collected data, and the results were as follows. First, the expected value of appearance management had a positive (+) effect on beauty management behavior. Second, the expected value of appearance management had a statistically significant positive (+) effect on beauty management behavior. Taken together, the results of the study show that the higher the level of social internalization, play and sympathy values, and appearance confidence of the expected value of appearance management, the higher the college students' beauty management behavior. Taken together, the results of the study show that the higher the level of social internalization, play conformity value, and appearance confidence of the expected value of appearance management, the higher the college students' beauty management behavior. This was confirmed to act as a reinforcing mechanism.

대학생의 자아존중감과 사회성, 주관적외모만족 간의 연계성 (Correlations between Self-esteem, Sociality, and Subjective Appearance Satisfaction among College Students)

  • This study aims to explore the relationships between self-esteem, sociality, appearance satisfaction, and subjective appearance satisfaction among college students. A self-administered questionnaire was used to survey students from 4-year colleges in Gwangju Metropolitan City. The findings reveal that personal self-esteem significantly impacts autonomy and activity, while social self-esteem significantly affects sociability and activity. Both physical and psychological self-esteem exhibit a significant influence on sociability, autonomy, and activity, underscoring their pivotal role in shaping social interactions. Further, both social and physical self-esteem significantly affect subjective appearance satisfaction, while bearing no significant influence on personal and psychological self-esteem. Thus, all self-esteem factors influence subjective appearance satisfaction, although some are not statistically significant. In addition, both sociability and activity display a statistically significant influence, whereas autonomy exhibits no such significance. This underlines the centrality of subjective appearance satisfaction in fostering sociability and activity. In sum, the outcomes underscore the interconnectedness of self-esteem, sociality, and subjective appearance satisfaction in college students. Moreover, the results indicate that higher subjective appearance satisfaction is linked with increased perceptions of self-esteem and sociality. Therefore, the development of programs oriented toward enhancing self-esteem and sociality among college students is imperative, enabling them to navigate their academic and social experiences with self-assurance.

대학생 외모만족도와 자기효능감의 관계 : 생활태도의 매개효과 (The Relationship between Appearance Satisfaction and Self-efficacy in College Students: Mediating Effect of Life Attitude)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the mediating effect of life attitude on the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy of college students. Methods: The data from 223 college students (K-do and -city) highly interested in body and appearance, and were analyzed by three-step mediation analysis and Sobel test. Results: The mediating effect of life attitude was significant on the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy. Namely, there was a mediating effect meaning the higher the appearance satisfaction, the more positive the attitude of life and the more self-efficacy. It was simultaneously found that the appearance satisfaction had a direct influence on self-efficacy. Conclusions: In summary, appearance satisfaction and self-efficacy act as internal factors that motivate individual self-development and the smooth adaptation of university life by changing own behavior. Accordingly, an education program should be devised to help college students form their own regular and correct lifestyles, which will also contribute to the improvement of self-efficacy of college student.

대학생의 성에 따른 신체만족도와 외모향상행동과의 관계 (Relationship between Body Satisfaction and Appearance Enhancement Behavior of College Students)

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between body satisfaction and appearance enhancement behavior of college students. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 234 college students in Cheong-ju area, Korea. Frequency, descriptive analysis, $x^2$ and t-tests were used for data analysis. Male students were generally satisfied with their height but not with their weight, while female students were not satisfied with their height and weight. There were significant gender differences in satisfaction with their skin color: male students were mostly satisfied with their skin color other than female students. The body satisfaction degree of college students depended on gender: the male students showed more satisfaction with their physical condition than the female students. Of the college student's improving-appearance behaviors such as face-lifting by plastic surgery, make-up by cosmetics and skin care, their preferable choice depended on their gender. When purchasing clothes, they considered if the clothes could cover their defects of their body line and improve their physical appearance. The levels of body satisfaction were significantly different according to their appearance enhancement behaviors.

대학생의 허영심 유형에 따른 차이연령과 의복 가격태도 (Difference Age and Price Attitude toward Apparel Products according to College Students' Vanity Typology)

  • This study classifies vanity into groups, analyzes age differences and categorizes price attitudes toward apparel products. Questionnaires were administered to 461 college students living in Daegu City and Kyungbok province. Data were collected using frequency, factor analysis, cluster analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, Duncan-test, and t-test. The findings were as follows. College student vanity was classified into three groups of appearance/ achievement pride, low vanity, and appearance/achievement concern. Vanity showed a significant correlation with sub-variables of age difference and price attitude towards apparel products. Appearance pride and achievement concern (sub-variables of vanity) had a significant effect on the conspicuous of price attitude toward apparel products. Appearance pride and Appearance concern (sub-variables of vanity) had a significant effect on information of price attitude toward apparel products. Gender of college students showed a distinction insub-variables of vanity factors such as appearance concern and price attitude toward apparel products such as information, quality, and using coupons. Male students were distinct in look and health as well as age differences by group; female students were distinct in age perception differences (a sub-variable of age difference). Both male and female students showed differences in conspicuousness (a sub-variable of price attitude) toward apparel products by group.

일부 대학생의 외모관리 행동이 구강건강 행동에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Appearance Management Behavior on Oral Practice Behavior of Some College Students)

  • Purpose : The college student period is pivotal for establishing oral health management behaviors and habits that persist in adulthood; it is necessary to develop the correct behaviors. Appearance management behavior not only involves the management of an individual's appearance but also ensures a healthy quality of life. Additionally, it is related to health and oral health behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine how college students' appearance management behavior affects their oral health management behavior and to provide basic data for developing policies appropriate for the lifestyle of college students. Methods : A self-administered questionnaire was completed by 450 university students in Gyeonggi, Choung-nam, Daejeon on April 27, 2022. The survey comprised 5 questions about general characteristics, 18 about appearance management behavior, and 8 about oral health behavior. The sum of the practice questions were calculated, with higher scores indicating better oral health behavior. Results : The oral health management behavior exhibited was generally high. Notably, the health-related group (61.2 %) demonstrated significantly higher levels of clothing management (60.5 %), makeup management (56.6 %), and skincare (56.6 %) behaviors, whereas body management behavior (61.2 %) was deemed 'normal' (p<.05). The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis examining the impact of appearance management behavior on oral health management indicated that clothing management (β=0.17) and skincare behaviors (β=0.12) were influential factors. Among these, clothing management behavior was the most influential. Conclusion : To promote oral health practices among college students, this study incorporated factors related to appearance management into oral health education to increase participation and interest. We intend our findings to serve as foundational data for developing oral health education programs that integrate elements of appearance management.

  • 본 연구는 대학생의 자아존중감, 전공만족도, 외모만족도, 취업스트레스의 관계를 확인하고, 이에 대한 제언을 제시하고자 한다. 연구의 대상은 B광역시에 소재한 재학생을 대상으로 실시하였으며, 자료분석은 SPSS WIN/22.0 프로그램을 활용하여 분석 하였다. 연구결과 일반적인 특성에 따른 취업스트레스의 차이는 학년(F=4.25, P=0.01), 종교(t=0.70), 학과 및 계열(F=7.50, P=.0001), 성격(F=6.406, P=0.001), 대학 생활만족도(F=8.09, P=0.001), 평균 성적(F=5.37, P=0.005) 에서는 유의하게 나타났다. 대상자의 취업 스트레스는 자아존중감(r=-.439, p<.001), 전공만족도(r=-.377, p<.001), 외모만족도(r=-.273, p<.001)에서 부적 상관관계 있었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 대학생의 취업 스트레스를 감소시키기 위해서는 자아존중감, 전공만족도, 외모만족도을 높이기 위한 관련된 통합적 프로그램을 개발하는 것이 필요하고, 다양한 변인에 대한 반복적 연구가 요구된다.

대중매체와 개인적 변수가 대학생 소비자의 성형태도 및 성형행동에 미치는 영향 (Impacts of Mass Media and Personal Factors on Attitudes towards Plastic Surgery and Plastic Surgery Behavior of College Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mass media and personal factors on attitudes towards plastic surgery and plastic surgery behavior. For this study the personal factors included concern for appearance, self-esteem, and body satisfaction. Subjects were 472 college students in Ulsan. The results showed that favorable attitudes towards plastic surgery were a little higher than the median, meaning that the respondents had a slightly positive attitude towards plastic surgery, and only 20% of the respondents had had an experience with plastic surgery. A multiple regression analysis was computed and indicated that a more positive attitudes towards plastic surgery was related to high levels of concern for appearance, more time watching TV, a higher household income, and being a female student, in terms of gender. The results of logit analysis indicated that a more positive attitude towards plastic surgery and being a female student related to a higher probability of having had plastic surgery.

간호대학생의 외모만족과 학교생활적응: 자아존중감의 매개효과와 성별의 조절효과 (Appearance Satisfaction and School Adjustment in Nursing Students: Mediating Effect of Self-esteem and Moderating Effect of Gender)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생들의 외모만족과 학교생활적응의 관계를 조사하고 자아존중감과 성별의 매개 또는 조절효과 파악을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구는 서술적 상관관계 연구로서 연구대상자는 D시에 소재한 간호대학에 재학하고 있는 188명의 학생을 대상으로 하였다. 분석결과 외모만족은 학교생활적응에 직접적인 영향을 주었고 자아존중감을 통해 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 자아존중감은 외모만족과 학교생활 적응의 관계에서 부분 매개효과가 있었다. 또한 성별은 외모만족과 자아존중감 사이에서 조절효과가 있었으나 외모만족과 학교생활적응, 자아존중감과 학교생활적응 사이에서는 조절효과가 유의하지 않았다. 그리고 여학생이 남학생보다 외모만족이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 간호대학생들의 학교생활적응을 증진하기 위한 전략으로 외모에 대한 긍정적 인식을 증진하고 자아존중감의 강화가 필요함을 의미하며 여학생을 대상으로 특화된 프로그램의 필요성을 제시하고 있다.

대학생들의 외모관리관심도 및 뷰티트렌드와 융합된 외모관리행동 (The appearance management interest of University Students and Appearance management behavior converged with Beauty trend)

  • 본 논문은 대학생들의 외모관리에 대한 관심도와 뷰티트렌드와 융합된 다양한 형태의 외모관리행동과의 연관성을 알아보기 위한 것이다. G지역의 대학생들을 대상으로 2018년 4월15일부터 30일까지 15일 동안 설문지를 배포하여 연구목적과 방법을 설명하고 동의한 학생 267명의 자료를 SPSS 18을 활용하여 분석하였다. 대학생들의 외모관리 관심도는 건강관리에 대한 관심도를 제외한 체형관리, 피부관리, 헤어관리, 화장품사용관리에는 남, 여 대학생에 따른 관심도 차이를 보였다. 그리고 화장품사용관리 관심도가 높은 학생들은 트렌드와 융합된 패션스타일 화장스타일 피부관리 체형관리 행동요인들의 경우 정(+)의 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났고, 트렌드와 융합된 운동건강기구 사용 요인에는 부(-)의 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 대학생들의 트렌드와 융합된 외모관리행동에 대한 연구를 토대로 뷰티산업체의 신상품개발연구 등에 참고자료 활용을 기대하고, 추후 새로운 융합형태의 외모관리행동연구를 지속할 예정이다.
