  • Purpose : The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of cold application on knee joint in rats induced by osteoarthritis. Methods : Osteoarthritis was induced in female Sprague-Dowley rats by injecting into articular cavity of knee joint with 4% Kaolin, 2% carrageenan. Rats were divided randomly into the control and MES applicated group. The Experimental group was applicated MES in rat knee joint for 30 minutes. Results : Recovery of articular cartilage surface and thickness of articular cartilage increased after MES application. And chondrocytes were distributed widely throughout the cartilage matrix. The physical effects of Microcurrent Electrical Stimulation. Decrease in blood flow. Delay of neurotransmitter velocity Decrease in metabolism activity and inhibit the progress of the infection. • This study was designed to evaluate the effect of processing method and surface design on the transverse strength of repaired denture base resin. Three heat-cured denture base resins(Vertex, Lucitone, Lang), one cold-cured resin(Lang), and one light-cured resin(Dentacolor gingiva material) were used for repair purpose. The specimens for 3-point flexure test were fabricated by five processing methods such as self-curing, pressure pot, boiling water, processing, and light curing. Finally to evaluate the effect of surface designs for repaired resin, three surface designs(butt, bevel, inverse bevel) were tested. Within the limit of this study, following conclusions were drawn. 1. Lucitone denture base material showed highest flexural strength of $131.37{\pm}2.15MPa$, and there were significant differences in stength between Lucitone and other resins. 2. Between two different self curing methods, self curing repair resin, Lang, cured by pressure pot method showed highest flexural strength, $58.49{\pm}4.89MPa$. 3. Among the heat cured repair resins, maximum transverse strength value of $88.69{\pm}16.60MPa$ was recorded in Lucitone group cured by processing method. 4. Inverse bevel joint design showed significantly higher bond strength than butt joint group, Maximum bond strength was $59.36{\pm}1.33MPa$ in inverse bevel joint design group.

  • The calculation of the optimal trajectory of the stepped top-down robot was made using a genetic algorithm and a computational torque controller. First, the total energy efficiency was minimized using the Red-Cold Generic Algorithm (RCGA) consisting of reproductive, cross, and mutation. The reproducibility condition related to the position assembly of the start and end of the stride and the joints, angles, and angular velocities are linear constraints. Next, the unequal constraint accompanies the condition for preventing the collision of the swing leg at the corner with the outer surface of the stairs, the condition of the knee joint for preventing kinematic peculiarity, and the condition of no moment in safety in the traveling direction. Finally, the angular trajectory of each joint is defined by fourth-order polynomial whose coefficient is to approximate chromosomes. This is to approximate walking. In this study, the energy efficiency of the optimal trajectory was analyzed by computer simulation through a biped robot with seven degrees of freedom composed of seven links.

  • Cold and hot-rolled carbon steel sheets are commonly used in railroad cars or commercial vehicles such as the automobile. The sheets used in these applications are mainly fabricated by spot welding, which is a type of electric resistance welding. However, the fatigue strength of a spot-welded joint is lower than that of the base metal because of high stress concentration at the nugget edge of the spot-welded part. In particular, the fatigue strength of the joint is influenced by not only geometrical and mechanical factors but also the welding conditions for the spot-welded joint. Therefore, there is a need for establishing a reasonable criterion for a long-life design for spot-welded structures. In this thesis, ${\Delta}P-N_f$ relation curves have been used to determine a long-life fatigue-design criterion for thin-sheet structures. However, as these curves vary under the influence of welding conditions, mechanical conditions, geometrical factors, etc. It is very difficult to systematically determine a fatigue-design criterion on the basis of these curves. Therefore, in order to eliminate such problems, the welding residual stresses generated during welding and the stress distributions around the weld generated by external forces were numerically and experimentally analyzed on the basis of the results, reassessed fatigue strength of gas welded joints.

  • Mass concrete is placed considering placing lifts in order to reduce thermal cracks by hydration heat. But they results in cold joint between placing lifts, which bring about the loss of strength, water tightness and undesirable appearance. Therefore, in this paper, mechanical and hydration heat of mass concrete using super retarding agent developed through previous study are investigated in order to reduce the hydration heat and place it without place lift. According to test results, placing lifts combined with normal concrete and concrete containing super retarding agent have positive effects on reducing hydration heat. Especially, the crack index by thermal stress of the concrete containing super retarding agent less than a quarter, compared to that of plain concrete without placing lifts, and less than a half, compared to that of plain concrete with placing lifts.

  • Recently, there has been an active study about weight reduction for automotive. This study is prediction and evaluation of one pice type steering component, which is universial joint. Steering system is a core of major safe device in vehicle. Universial shaft adopted in steering system transmit steering torque between olumn and steering gear. Conventional universial shaft is produced by welding process because of geometric complexity. But welding process has some weakness such as deflection on surface, residual stress, and deteronration of material properties so it can deteriorate durability of vehicle.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of number and location of finger joints on the bending strength of glue-laminated lumbers. Urea resin adhesives were used in this experiment and the resin content was 70% for cold pressing. The lamina were edge-jointed and end-jointed. The specimen were composed of one or three layers. The obtained results are summarized as follows; The effects of finger joints on the decrease of bending strength of glue laminated woods were different according to the number and location of finger joints. The decrease of MOR was highest on the middle position of laminated woods. The effects of several arrangements of finger joints on the bending strength of glue laminated woods showed on Figure 7 and 8. The variance of thickness-laminating on the bending strength of glue laminated woods were larger than those of width-laminating.
