The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of Christian education research during the COVID-19 period. To this end, 172 theses published in the "Journal of Christian Education" and "Korea Society for Christian Education & Information Technology" pub-lished between March 2020 and June 2022 were analyzed according to the subfields and research methods of Christian education. As a result of the analysis, 38.5% of the total papers belonged to theories of Christian education. Papers related to practice of Christian education was 61.5%. Looking more closely at Christian education practice, papers related to classification by 'developmental stage' accounted for 25%, 'education field' accounted for 55.2%, 'function' accounted for 40.7% of the total papers. Regarding the classification of research methods, literature research accounted for 62.7% of the total studies, survey research methods accounted for 21.5%. Based on this, the main conclusions found in this study are as follows. First, the problems caused by the emergence and spread of the coronavirus began to be reflected in Christian education studies. Second, it was confirmed that the research method of Christian education, which had been biased toward liter-ature research, was recently converted from theory-centered to an attempt to balance theory and practice, and as convergence research increased, research topics and re-search methods were diversifying. Third, it was confirmed the need for category stand-ards that can analyze and classify studies in order to identify trends in Christian education research. Lastly, when considering all the papers, there are not many papers that fall under the classification by characteristics.
This study analyzed research trends related to Christian school education in Korea. In order to analyze academic societies and conferences related to Christian school education, the topics of conferences and research results and theses related to Christian school education in Korea were collected to analyze the frequency and trend of Christian school education-related topics. In addition, papers searched as "Christian schools" among the academic journal's published papers were classified and organized. In order to understand research trends related to Christian school education, the year and frequency of academic journals related to Christian school education were analyzed, and the contents of the published papers were divided into research schools, research subjects, and research contents.As a result of analyzing research trends of Christian school education, it was found that there were very few academic exchanges or academic activities related to Christian school education, and most supported lectures and meetings related to the reconstruction of curriculum and class management directly supporting school sites. Therefore, this study proposed that academic societies and conferences should be revitalized in Christian school education-related institutions. In addition, this study found that annual academic conferences of Christian education-related academic societies were rarely held under the theme of Christian school education, and suggested to revitalize research related to Christian school education in the academic societies of Christian education in order that God's kingdom may be restored and expanded in the area of education by recovering school education through active research on Christian school education. Third, as a result of analyzing the papers published in domestic journals, it was confirmed that research on Christian school education was mainly conducted around universities, and the topics were limited to history, curriculum, religious education, identity, and missionary work. In this regard, this study proposed to expand the research topics related to Christian school education. Finally, as a result of analyzing the published academic journals that studied on Christian school education, it was found that the non-Christian camp is also conducting research with interest in Christian schools, and thus, communication with the non-Christian camp was proposed to revitalize research on Christian school education.
Competency means 'the ability to do something', and competency-based education means 'the process of education based on the concept of competency'. Competency-based education is generally implemented in general education. However, competency-based education has not yet been actively conducted in the field of Christian education. In particular, it has not been established academically on what competencies Christian alternative schools provide in common. Most of the previous studies related to competency-based education in Christian education are related to competency-based education conducted by Christian universities. Research related to competency in Christian alternative schools is mainly related to the professionalism of teachers or the ideology of Christian alternative schools. In other words, there are few specific studies on what kind of competency they provide to students attending Christian alternative schools. Therefore, this study aims to understand the reality of competency-based education conducted by Christian alternative schools using Delphi analysis techniques. Through this study, four goals and 20 competency elements of competency education pursued by Christian alternative schools were found. By categorizing the goals and elements of competency education, it can be divided into relationships with God, relationships with oneself, and relationships with others and the world. In conclusion, it was suggested that Christian alternative schools should provide education that pursues the universal purpose of Christian education based on specificity and reflect the goals and elements of competency education in the curriculum.
This paper begins with the question of whether "on-tact" Christian education, which has become the most new-normal phenomenon since Corona 19, will remain as a decisive form of Christian education even in the post-Corona era. In order to answer that question, this study explored whether on-tact Christian education has its own domain of experience and educational elements that cannot be replaced by face-to-face education, specifically focusing on "types of on-tact Christian Education", "discussion of digital church" and "digital epistemology". Through research on "types of onn-tact Christian education," it confirmed that, when viewed on the basis of 'participation' or 'communication', on-tact Christian education has an independent field of experience and educational elements. Through contemplation on "digital ecclesiology", it found that on-tact education is the decisive channel for Christian education to reach digital generation. It also found a new metaphor from the "network" concept for the public church and the Kingdom of God. This paper also found that we experience the perception of the body that is expanded through the combination between the body and technology in the digital world, and that this is a unique epistemology that occurs only in the digital world. Based on the above points, it affirmed that on-tact Christian education is not simply a means of supplementing face-to-face education in the era of COVID-19, but is a Christian education that has an independent field of experience and educational power that face-to-face education cannot replace. Thus it foresees that on-tact Christian education will continue to expand as a center and form of Christian education even in the post-corona era.
Church education in Korean churches is facing a very serious crisis. This crisis is a negative perception of the church as viewed by the present society. The negative perception of the church has led to children, adolescents, young adults, and even adults leaving the church. There have been countless studies on the problem of Christian education and its alternatives. However, those problems still remain a matter of church education. The alternatives do not become viable and remain a problem. To solve these problems, a paradigm shift is required, and in order to overcome the crisis of the church, it is necessary to study alternatives and its method factors and find application points. Today's church education is absolutely influenced by postmodernism and informationalization. However, church education is education for Christian identity that transmits Christian faith. This Christian education is facing challenges and crises against its religious and academic identity. Christian education has a responsibility to be aware of this reality and to present alternatives to overcome various crises facing church education. Therefore, it is the task of church education to establish standards so that we can live a life where the Bible becomes the standard. In other words, it is to give them biblical faith. Furthermore, it is necessary to point out and understand Christian faith in the Korean church, which has been evaluated as insufficient. In addition, establishing a Christian worldview and realizing the Kingdom of God that practice justice and love in society are tasks that can be accomplished efficiently through Christian education. Therefore, the Korean church should actively seek ways to support the practice of Christian education as well as church education in forming ideal Christians which is the goal of Christian education.
As COVID-19 has been converted to an endemic with social distancing lifted, people are getting used to new cultures and lifestyles that are different from before. While the world is now adapting to rapidly changing trends, Christian education is facing a crisis without being able to respond to these changes. Therefore, a new Christian education method is now required. The purpose of this study is to suggest a new Christian education method that allows Christians to properly lead a new era as an alternative to Christian education that is experiencing such a crisis. The study also presents the metaverse Christian education platform, which is a detailed and practical method of Christian education, by incorporating the platform and metaverse that are under the spotlight in the post-Corona era into Christian education. Here, the christian educational platform refers to the system, space, and various materials that can make Christian education efficient and smooth. The metaverse Christian education platform consists of 4 stages according to the size of the platform to activate supply and demand within the platform. Stage 1 is a home education platform, Stage 2 is a community education platform, Stage 3 is a regional union education platform, and Stage 4 is an educational mission platform. The last Stage 4, the educational mission platform utilized the metaverse, which is drastically expanding in the present era, as a method of educational mission. It is meaningful that the educational mission has been embodied by providing small churches and the next generation in underdeveloped countries with educational contents, educational materials, online mentors, virtual communities, and real-time educational broadcasts within the educational platform, using virtual spaces in the metaverse.
This study investigated the recognition and difficulty of Christian early childhood education curriculum of Christian early childhood education by analyzing cases of Christian early childhood curriculum experienced by 10 Christian early childhood teachers with more than 4 years of experience in the metropolitan area. From April 4 to June 24, 2018, data were collected by transcribing through a total of 22 interviews: individual interviews (20 times) and group interviews (2 times). In order to categorize the interview data, derive the core categories, and increase the accuracy and validity of data interpretation, it was sent to the study participants for member check and verified by two early childhood education experts. As a result, the perception and difficulty of Christian early childhood teachers' perceptions and difficulties in the Christian curriculum were analyzed as 'Applying Church Education to Nuri Course', 'Applying Nuri Course to Church Education', and 'Learners Understanding for Integration of Church Education and Nuri Course' did. It is hoped that the understanding of the Christian early childhood curriculum will be helped through the recognition and difficulty of the Christian early childhood curriculum experienced by Christian early childhood teachers, and will be provided as basic data for finding a desirable Christian early childhood curriculum.
In South Korea which has become a multicultural society, ethnic and cultural others have suffered from discrimination against them and isolation from society. Multicultural policies and multicultural public education have simply focused on the assimilation of cultural others without providing opportunities to build a reciprocal relationship between Kor eans and cultural others. Noting this reality, this paper proposes intercultural Christian education as a prophetic and educational role of faith communities in society. Intercultural education, intercultural theology, Miroslav Volf's drama of embrace, and Sang-Jin Park's theory of the ecosystem of Christian education offer theoretical foundations for intercultural Christian education. Based on these foundations, the paper discusses the definition and goal of intercultural Christian education and argues for the roles of intercultural Christian education to help Christ ians "SEE" the self, the other, and the community through self-reflection, embrace, and ecological transformation. As intercultural Christian education pursues to nurture Christians to have a respectful and hospitable mindset toward cultural others, such education will help faith communities seek a multi-colored kingdom of God.
The purpose of this study is to present a model for Christian peace education requested in the era of globalization. Globalization increases interdependence and unifies the global economy due to the development of innovative communication and transportation systems. The world is currently experiencing a period of unlimited competition without borders. Globalization has promoted growth and development, but has also caused problems. In the face of this absence of peace, this study was conducted to determine whether a Christian understanding of peace and peace education can serve as a way to overcome the challenges facing modern society and to meet people's desire for peace. It examines the concept of globalization and the situation of the absence of peace due to problems in the era of globalization, and examines the concept of peace and peace education from a Christian perspective. After that, the concept of Christian peace required in the era of globalization and the peace capability to be strengthened in peace education will be presented, and how to proceed. The christian peace education model strengthens students' peace capabilities which can be used to build a peaceful future world. The purpose of christian peace education in the face of globalization is to develop a peaceful relationship with oneself, others, the world, and the environment. The goal of christian peace education is to cultivate peaceful human beings by strengthening their peace capabilities, namely peace sensitivity, nonviolent communication, and peace imagination. The purpose of this study is to explore the development of language education of Christian early childhood education by exploring the change of pre-Christian preschool teachers through the development of biblical language education activities. Interviews, surveys, action plans, and reflections of 19 Christian education students who participated in the development of bible-based language education activities for children based on the language of early childhood language, were conducted from September 3 to December 28, 2018. The data were collected through a portfolio. By analyzing the collected data, the key categories were derived and categorized. For the objectification of data analysis and interpretation, two thematic and early childhood education specialists were identified. As a result, the preparatory Christian teacher experience for the development of bible-based langage education activities for young children was categorized into cognitive change, personality change and practical change. First, through the development of bible-based early childhood language education activities, Christian pre-service early childhood teachers have brought cognitive changes as 'processes not outcomes', 'integration not separation', 'living non-curriculum' and 'meaning not effect'. In developing bible-based language education activities for young children, Christian pre-service early childhood teachers experienced a cognitive change in the 'process of language education activities' rather than the developmental achievements and results of early childhood language education. Christian pre-service early childhood teachers recognized the necessity of 'integration of listening-speaking-reading-writing', not the separation of early childhood language education. They recognized the importance of 'informal language education in kindergarten life', as well as teacher-centered formal language education. In addition, they have made a cognitive change that 'child-centered meaningful language education experience' is more important than the effectiveness of early childhood language education. Second, in developing bible-based language education activities for young children, Christian pre-service early childhood teachers showed personality changes as 'confident teachers', 'professional teachers', and 'teachers with reflective thoughts and attitudes'. Finally, in developing bible-based language education activities for young children, Christian pre-service early childhood teachers recognized the power of positive language and practiced it to form habits of using the right language and to link Christian education with early childhood education. Through the development of bible-based language education activities for young children, Christian pre-service early childhood teachers are equipped with the heart attitude and enthusiasm required to become true early childhood teachers for young children in unpredictable educational conditions and rapidly changing educational realities. Teacher efficacy has improved. In the future, it is expected that various teacher education programs linking Christian education and early childhood education will be continuously and systematically implemented.
