The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between child's self-regulation and stress according to child's sex. The subjects for this study were 380 children of 5-6th grade selected from elementary schools in Busan. Lee, Soon-Kyu's questionnaires(1994) on child's self-regulation and Han, Mi-Hyun's questionnaires(1996) on child's stress were used. Statistical techniques such as Manova, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression, canonical were used. The resets were as follows : (1) According to sex, there were significant differences in child's self-regulation and stress. The girls showed more self-regulation and higher friend-related stress than the boys. The boys showed higher parent-related stress than the girls. (2) Relationships between child's self-regulation and stress showed as follows : The boys who used more impulsive-control perceived lower friend-related stress, lower school-related stress, lower teacher-related stress, and lower surroundings-related stress. And the boys who used more behavioral-control perceived lower school-related stress, lower teacher-related stress, and lower surroundings-related stress. (3) The predicted variable for boy's friend-related stress was impulsive-control. The predicted variables for boy's school-related stress, teacher-related stress and surroundings-related stress were impulsive-control and behavioral-control. (4) Among three dimensions of self-regulation for boy, the effective variables were impulsive-control and behavioral-control. And among six dimensions of stress were surroundings-related stress, school-related stress and friend-related stress. Implications of this study were discussed in terms of child's self-regulation and stress.
The purpose of this study was to clarify how preschooler's adaptive temperament and father's child-rearing involvement may be related to mother's chid-rearing stress. The subjects were 320 mothers whose children were 3, 4 or 5 age preschoolers attending day care centers in Keoungbok. Statistical techniques were Pearson's correlation, hierarchical multiple regression(using SPSS 12.0). The results of this were as follows. 1. Mother's child-rearing stress was negatively related to preschooler's adaptive temperament. 2. Mother's child-rearing stress was negatively related to father's child-rearing involvement. 3. The Multiple Regression analysis showed that preschooler's adaptive temperament and father's child-rearing involvement were significantly predictive to mother's child-rearing stress. And preschooler's adaptive temperament was the stronger predictor of mother's child-rearing stress than father's child-rearing involvement. There was no significant interaction effect of father's child-rearing involvement and preschooler's adaptive temperament on mother's child-rearing stress.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of child rearing behavior and child rearing involvement on elementary school children's stress. The subjects were 201 children selected from 2 elementary schools and their parents. Data was collected using the children's stress index, the child rearing behavior questionnaire, and the child rearing involvement questionnaire, and was statistically analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA (Duncan test), correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The study showed that there were some significant differences in children's stress according to the child's gender, grade, and scholastic achievement. Correlation analysis indicated that the child's stress and the mother's child rearing behavior had significant correlation, especially the warmth acceptance behavior of the mother indicated negative high correlation. Also, the child's stress and father's child rearing behavior had significant correlation, especially the rejection restriction behavior of the father indicated positive high correlation. Correlation analysis indicated that the child's stress and the mother's child rearing involvement had significant correlation, especially the family activities involvement of the mother indicated negative high correlation. As well, the child's stress and the father's child rearing involvement had significant correlation, especially the day to day guidance involvement of the father indicated negative high correlation. It was also found that rejection restriction behavior of the father, permissiveness non-intervention behavior of the father, day to day guidance involvement of the father, family activities involvement of the father, and warmth acceptance behavior of the mother were all significant predictors of the elementary school child's stress.
This study explored effects of social support and stress coping strategies on teachers' job stress in corporate-sponsored child care centers. Participants were 191 child care teachers from 19 corporate-sponsored child care centers. Data was analyzed using Pearson's productive correlation and hierarchical multiple regression tests. Important findings were as follows: First, the overload of task was the dominant factor in causing job stress. Secondly, social support correlated negatively with child care teachers' job stress. Thirdly, child care teachers' problem-focused coping strategy was also found to be related to their job stress. Finally, the effect of social support on child care teachers' job stress was partially mediated by their problem-focused coping strategy.
Maternal interactions during mother-child problem solving tasks were analyzed by marital satisfaction, parenting stress, and child attachment security. Forty 36-to 52-month-old children and their mothers were observed at home. Mothers' ratings of marital satisfaction and parenting stress were collected by questionnaires, and Attachment Q-set assessed child attachment security. Marital satisfaction and child attachment security were negative1y related to parenting stress. Marital satisfaction, parenting stress, and attachment security were related to maternal behaviors. The relations between child's attachment security and maternal behaviors were mediated by parenting stress. Stronger child attachment security was related to lower parenting stress, which in turn contributed to competent maternal behaviors during problem solving.
The purpose of this study was to explore potential correlation between the amount of time children spent in child care centers and their daily stress levels. The subjects of this study were 165 children (aged 2~5) who attended a child care center in Seoul. Children were interviewed individually, and tested using 23 picture cards which describe a range of stressful situations. The results of this study were as follows: the children's age led to significant differences in their stress level. The age at which the children first entered the child care center had no significant impact on their stress level. However, the times spent in child care centers showed a significant correlation with stress. The longer time the child spent in the center, the higher the degree of stress they encountered.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between ego-resilience, job stress, and turnover intention of child care teachers. Methods: The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and structural equation models using SPSS 23 and AMOS 22. The effects of a child care teacher's resilience on turnover intention as a result of job stress was indirectly evaluated by bootstrapping. Results: First, all sub-factors of a child care teacher's resilience were negatively correlated with job stress and turnover intention. Job stress was positively correlated with turnover intention. Second, job stress levels of child care teachers showed a full mediating role in the relationship between resilience and turnover intention. Conclusion/Implications: High job stress levels of child care teachers had a negative effect on the daycare field, with significant effects of job stress on resilience and turnover intention.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the relation between stress and temporomandibular disorder(TMD) of first the child. Methods : 500(the first child -250, non first child -250) high school students living in Jecheon city, form November 4th to 5th 2009, were the subjects of this questionnaire. The questionnaire was made up of three contests: sociodemographic characteristic, symptom & dysfunction of TMD and stress of high school students. The data were analyzed by chi-square test, two sample t-test and Pearson correlation. Results : Only 443(the first child -209, non first child - 234) students were evaluated due to inadequate responses. The obtain results was as follow. 1. Subjective symptom of TMD reported by 443 students were joint sound(63.5%), pain on chewing(55.1%), pain on opening the mouth(55.1%). 2. Analysis of subjective symptom of TMD showed the first child group was statistical significantly higher on joint sounds and TMJ pain than non first child group(<0.05). 3. Analysis of bad habit and dysfunction showed the first child group was statistical significantly higher on clenching of the teeth, difficulties of bite, headache than non first child group(<0.05). 4. Analysis of stress showed the first child group was statistical significantly higher on stress with parents than non first child. especially on marks and disagreement(<0.05). 5. Stress were partly related to subject symptom of TMD(<0.05, <0.01). 6. Analysis of relation stress and bad habit & dysfunction showed stress were partly related to bad habit & dysfunction(<0.05, <0.01). 7. bad habit were partly related to TMD(<0.05, <0.01). Conclusions : The first child stress and symptom of TMD were higher than non-first child, also stress and symptom of TMD was positively associated. therefore management of the first child' stress is necessary and related study is necessary in the future.
