A study has been made to find out a new method of calculating the survival rate of a fish population from length composition and growth equation. 1. In the steady state of the fish population, let the total mortality rate be z, the age of complete recruitment $\alpha$, and the number of $\chi$ year class $N_\chi$. Then ire obtain $$N\chi=N\alpha\;\exp\;{-z(\chi-\alpha)}$$ Let the oldest age in the catch be h, the average age between the age of complete recruitment and the oldest age in the catch $U\chi$. Then we have $$U\chi=\frac{a-b\;\exp\;(-z(b-a))}{1-\exp\;(-z(b-a))}+\frac{1}{z}....(1)$$ and then let be infinite. Then we obtain $$Z=\frac{1}{U\chi-\alpha....(2)$$ 2. Calculating numerical value of $U\chi$ from age composition table and growth equation and substitute in (1) or (2) for it, we may obtain the value of s and $\varrho^{-z}$. 3. This method is applied t a case of yellow croaker in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea. The results are as follows: Total mortality rate 0.82595 Survival rate 0.43782 95 percent confidence interval 0.43767-0.43797.

In this paper we discuss some properties of the map $f_G$ and of the set $ F(G, \chi)$ in convex metric spaces. A sufficient condition for an element of a convex metric space X to lie in $ F(G, \chi)$ is also given in this pope.

A putative type-I chalcone isomerase (CHI) cDNA clone EuNOD-CHI was previously isolated from the root nodule of Elaeagnus umbellata [Kim et al. (2003)]. To see if it encodes a functional CHI, we ectopically overexpressed it in the Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) transparent testa 5 (tt5) mutant, which is defective in naringenin production and has yellow seeds due to proanthocyanidin deficiency. Ectopic overexpression of EuNOD-CHI resulted in recovery of normal seed coat color. Naringenin produced by CHI from naringenin chalcone was detected in the transgenic lines like in the wild-type, whereas it was absent from the tt5 mutant. We conclude that EuNOD-CHI encodes a functional type-I CHI. In situ hybridization revealed that EuNOD-CHI expression is localized to the infected cells of the fixation zone in root nodules.

Chitinase-Like Proteins (CLPs) are an evolutionarily conserved protein which lose their enzymatic activity for degrading chitin macromolecules. Chitinase-3-like-1 (Chi3l1) is a type of CLP that is highly expressed in epithelial cells, macrophages, etc., and is known to have correlations with type 2 inflammation and cancer. Although the increased level of Chi3l1 in the blood was reported in various disease patients, the function of Chi3l1 in adaptive immunity has been totally unknown. Recently, we found that Chi3l1 is expressed in T cells and has a negative regulatory role in T-cell activation and proliferation. A genetic ablation study of Chi3l1 in T cells showed hyperresponsiveness to TcR stimulation, which increased proliferation and Th1 differentiation. A significant increase of $IFN{\gamma}$ signaling in Chi3l1-deficient T cells synergistically increased Th1 and CTL functions against melanoma cells in vitro and in vivo. In addition, targeted knockdown by Chi3l1 siRNA complexed with the cell-penetrating peptide dNP2, which showed decreased pulmonary melanoma metastasis with increased infiltration of Th1 and CTL in the lung. This study first suggests that Chi3l1 is a novel regulator of Th1/CTL responses and could be a target for treating cancer to increase tumor immunity.

In this paper, we study the dynamics of a two-parameter unfolding system $\chi$' = y, y' = $\beta$y＋$\alpha$f($\chi\alpha\pm\chiy$＋yg($\chi$), where f($\chi$,$\alpha$) is a second order polynomial in $\chi$ and g($\chi$) is strictly nonlinear in $\chi$. We show that the higher order term yg($\chi$) in the system does not change qulitative structure of the Hopf bifurcations near the fixed points for small $\alpha$ and $\beta$ if the nontrivial fixed point approaches to the origin as $\alpha$ approaches zero.

The study examines factors affecting apartment prices in the real estate market of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The study uses primary data based on surveys of customers who have traded successfully, and collects transaction data from real estate trading companies that are the top investors in Ho Chi Minh City real estate market. The collected data include 384 observations in a total of 24 districts, detailing that each district surveyed on a minimum of four projects, each project carried out a survey on a minimum of four apartments. The survey collected 339 valid questionnaires for analysis and model testing. This study employs multivariate regression with the data of 339 observations. The research results reveal that five significant factors affect positively the price of apartments in Ho Chi Minh City - apartment area, toilet and bedroom, apartment floor, reference price, and apartment interior. Besides, there are three significant factors affecting negatively the price of apartments - next price trend, distance to city center, and potential building. From the results, the research proposes solutions in the pricing of apartments in the real estate market in Ho Chi Minh City - better information system, a real estate transaction index, and stricter management of small brokerage activities.

We provide the exact form of a Rao-Robson version of the chi-squared test of multivariate normality suggested by Park(2001). This test is easy to apply in practice since it is easily computed and has a limiting chi-squared distribution under multivariate normality. A self-contained formal argument is provided that it has the limiting chi-squared distribution. A simulation study is provided to study the accuracy, in finite samples, of the limiting distribution. Finally, a simulation study in a nonnormal distribution is conducted in order to compare the power of our test with those of other popular normality tests.

Antifungal activity of ChiCW and synergistic interactions between ChiCW with fungicides were investigated. Conidial germinations of phytopathogenic fungi, Alternaria brassicicola, Botrytis elliptica, and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, were inhibited by ChiCW but A. longipes was not. In addition, ChiCW showed synergistic effect with fungicides Switch (cyprodinil+fludioxonil) and tebuconazole to inhibit fungal conidial germinations. The level of synergism of ChiCW with tebuconazole was higher than that with Switch. The results indicate that ChiCW may exhibit a higher level of synergism with fungicides that have a primary effect upon membranes.
