Major countries have tighten their NOx regulation of diesel passenger cars. In the case of the EU, the regulation has been toughen up to 6.25 times since 2000. Despite the regulation the NOx concentration of the ambient has not been reduced proportionally. As these issues, to reduce NOx emission practically, Korea and the EU introduced the real-world driving emission (RDE) regulation and the test method that will be applied after 2017. In this paper, for the regulation to make a soft landing in Korea, 6 diesel passenger cars which met Euro 6a~6d regulation and were equipped with LNT/SCR were tested at a chassis dynamometer with environmental chamber applying the off-cycles (FTP, US06, SC03, HWFET and CADC) and several ambient conditions (-7 and $14^{\circ}C$) as well as certification modes (NEDC, WLTC@ $23^{\circ}C$). The result of the test showed that the ambient temp. and the engine load as a test mode impacted the NOx emission of the cars while the vehicles with SCR emitted NOx lower than with LNT. Additionally, to propose an effective RDE test method, the above result was compared with the results of the other papers which tested RDE using the same cars.
As emission gas regulation of deisel vehicles is strengthened to Euro-6, It becomes difficult to deal with NOx regulated value mainly by EGR without additional after-treatment system. In addition, RDE(Real Driving Emissions) test will be introduced after september 2017. Therefore, It is essential to develop the after-treatment of diesel vehicles which reduce NOx emissions. It is possible to use DOC, DPF, LNT or DOC, DPF and SCR as a after-treatment system for reducing NOx. However, It is expected that the SCR will be applied widely because LNT alone does not have sufficient NOx purification efficiency. In this study, It tried to analyze the efficiency of reducing NOx emissions during the mode test by attaching a NOx sensor to test vehicle. As a result, It was confirmed that NOx emissions was significantly reduce through the after-treatment system from engine. And the NOx reduction efficiency of SCR was about 4.5 times better than DOC, DPF.
The LPG vehicles are being operated by commercial purposes generally such as taxis. Most of taxis have a long-mileage and a harsh driving pattern. These properties may accelerate aging of the three-way catalysts much faster than the passenger vehicles. Because of this background, it was analyzed the test result of fuel efficiency and emissions on the LPG-fueled light duty vehicle. It was selected for a LPG vehicle of ULEV level to measure the fuel efficiency and emissions of the aged three-way catalysts. And the aged three-way catalysts which was driven about 300,000km and 550,000km replaced on the test vehicle in consecutive order. As a result, The aged three-way catalysts generally had no effect on fuel efficiency result, and harmful exhaust emissions had been shown to increase in most of the test mode, even though it satisfied the regulation value on most test modes.

In Korea, sales of passenger cars using diesel and LPG fuels were continuously increased in recent years. From now on 2030, the registrated vehicles will close in about twenty five million in Korea. From these reason, Investigation on the comparison of exhaust emission characteristics of passenger cars using LPG and Diesel fuel in variation of driving mode and ambient conditions were conducted in this study. Exhaust emission characteristics of test vehicles were measured and analyzed by using chassis dynamometer and emission analyzer. Also, test vehicles were selected on the diesel vehicle with 1.7L engine and LPG vehicle with 2.0L engine. In order to study on emission characteristics according to driving cycles, CVS-75, NEDC, US06, SC03, Cold-FTP and HWFET were applied and the test conditions were set up the cases of A/C on and hot start. From these results, it is revealed that the NOx emission of diesel vehicle was higher than that of LPG vehicle and the case of CO emission shows the opposite patterns. In the HC emission, the emission increasing patterns not showed but the NOx emission of diesel vehicle and CO emission of LPG vehicle were showed the variation patterns according to the various driving modes.
Emissions of diesel vehicles have been regulated by NEDC mode for a long time. However, the NEDC mode has been known the control of emission reduction is not reflected properly on actual road conditions. For these reasons, diesel vehicle emissions are regulated in both NEDC mode and WLTC mode from 2017 to 2020, from 2020 onwards, the emissions of diesel vehicles will measure in WLTC mode only and will not be able to exceed 1.5 times the regulated value. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development trend of diesel vehicle after-treatment system in order to comply with the future regulations on diesel vehicle. As a result, it is essential to reduce the NOx emissions of diesel vehicles for Euro 6, the NOx emissions of the test vehicle equipped with SCR were 30% to 50% loss than the test vehicle equipped with LNT despite the higher curb weight and engine displacement.
Recently, major developed countries have strengthened automobile fuel efficiency regulations and carbon dioxide emission allowance standards to curb climate change caused by global warming worldwide. Accordingly, research and manufacturing on electric vehicles that do not emit pollutants during actual driving on the road are being conducted. Several automobile companies are producing and testing electric vehicles to commercialize them, but it takes a lot of manpower and time to test and evaluate mass-produced electric vehicles with driving mileage of more than 300km on a per-charge. Therefore, in order to reduce this, a simulation model was developed in this study. This study used vehicle information and MCT speed profile of small electric vehicle as basic data. It was developed by applying Simulink, which models the system in a block diagram method using MATLAB software. Based on the vehicle dynamics, the simulation model consisted of major components of electric vehicles such as motor, battery, wheel/tire, brake, and acceleration. Through the development model, the amount of change in battery SOC and the mileage during driving were calculated. For verification, battery SOC data and vehicle speed data were compared and analyzed using CAN communication during the chassis dynamometer test. In addition, the reliability of the simulation model was confirmed through an analysis of the correlation between the result data and the data acquired through CAN communication.

The purpose of this study is to identify the possibility of effective tuning works, understand the characteristics of tuning engine, and analyse the basic data of engine tuning inspection corresponding to the safe operation and environment of a driving gasoline car. The effects of tuning on the characteristics of performance and exhaust emissions under a wide range of engine speeds are experimentally investigated by the actual driving car with a four-cycle, four-cylinder DOHC, turbo-intercooler, water-cooled gasoline engine operating at four types of non-tuning, tuning 1, 2 and 3. The tuning parts in the gasoline engine are the intake manifold, intake pipe and air filter. In the experiment, the output, torque and air-fuel ratio of the five-speed automatic transmission vehicles were measured at the chassis dynamometer(Dynojet 224xLC) with one person on board. The exhaust emissions of $NO_X$, THC, CO, $O_2$ and $CO_2$, and excess air ratio(${\lambda}$) at the other chassis dynamometer(DASAN-MD-ASM-97-KR-HD) were also measured by the idle/constant-speed mode(ASM2525 mode) test method. It is found that the actual air-fuel ratios of non-tuning and tuning engines were shown to be lower than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio with increasing engine speed, and the actual air-fuel ratio of non-tuning engine was slightly higher than those of tuning engines when the engine speed is more than 4000 rpm. The output was significantly increased by the tuning whereby the maximum output of tuning engine was more increased to approximately 117.64% than that of non-tuning engine. In addition, CO, THC and $NO_X$ emissions of non-tuning and tuning engines measured by the constant-speed test mode were all satisfied with the inspection standards. CO emission was increased, while THC and $NO_X$ emissions were reduced by tuning.

The test was done on cars travelling at speeds of 20km/h, 60km/h and 100km/h, the performance testing mode for chassis dynamometer. In this test, the secondary waveform were measured, including those using faulty MAP sensors, oxygen sensors and spark plugs. The results from these measurements and their analysis of secondary waveform can be summarized as follows: 1) The secondary waveform measured from the faulty oxygen sensor showed a lot of noise around peak voltage and in the rising and falling sections during spark line which means that the air fuel mixture was non-homogeneous. 2) The secondary waveform from the faulty MAP sensor showed the worst shape compared to other sensors, including variation of spark line, state of air-fuel mixture and velocity of flame front. 3) The spark line time of secondary waveform using a faulty spark plug displayed the shortest and smallest energy spark line, which means that a misfire occurred.

This article is to provide reasonably accurate vehicle emission estimates for the four sampled fuels which are commercially available across the nation. Emission quantities are obtained by testing a vehicle on a chassis dynamometer and capturing a sample of the emissions from the tailpipe in vehicle. The vehicle is driven following a particular pattern of idle, acceleration, cruise, and deceleration. Shown here is the trace of the test cycle known as the CVS-75 Mode which is used to certify the emission performance standards. The mode of CVS-75 consists of a cold start cycle, a hot stabilized cycle, and a hot start cycle. Emissions for the pollutants are measured in vehicle testing. These are carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), and total hydrocarbon (THC). The test results summarized in this report indicate that the differences for the amount of emission are quantitatively minimal.

Several Pt-based oxidation catalysts with different loading were prepared with various metal precursor solutions and characterized with H$_2$ chemisorption and TEM for Pt particle size. V was added to Pt-based catalyst for inhibiting SO$_2$oxidation reaction, as result, Pt-V/Ti-Si catalyst prepared by ERMS(Free Reduced Metal in Solution) method showed high enough activity and better inhibition on SO$_2$oxidation than Pt only catalyst. Optimum Pt particle size for diesel oxidation reaction turned out to be the size of around 20 nm. A prototype catalyst was prepared for light=duty diesel passenger car, and teated for the emission reduction performance with Korean regulation test mode(CVS-75 mode) on chassis dynamometer. The catalyst shows the performance reduction of 75~94% for CO, 53~67% for HC and 10~31% for PM. In the case of heavy-duty diesel catalyst, the domestic formal regulation teat mode D-13 was adopted for both Na engine and Turbo engine. The conversions of CO and THC are high enough(86% and 41%) while the reductions of NOx and PM are relatively low(3~11%).
