  • In the present study, we investigated effects of extracellular zinc (Zn$\^$2+/) on T-type Ca$\^$2+/ channel isoforms (${\alpha}$lG, ${\alpha}$lH, and ${\alpha}$lI) stably expressed in HEK 293 cells. Ca$\^$2+/ currents were measured using 10 mM Ca$\^$2+/ as a charge carrier under whole cell-ruptured patch configuration. Zn$\^$2+/ blocked the ${\alpha}$lH currents with a 100- and 200-fold higher potency (IC$\sub$50/ = 2.5 ${\mu}$M) when compared with those for blockade of the ${\alpha}$1G and ${\alpha}$1I currents, respectively.(omitted)

  • The architecture of the CDMA mobile system (CMS) is developed based on three function groups - service resource, service control, and service management groups. In this paper, the CMS architecture is discussed from the point of view of implementing these functions. The variable length packets are used for transmission. The synchronization clock signals are derived form the GPS receiver. The open loop and closed loop techniques are used for the power control. The internationally accepted signaling and network protocols are employed. The call control for the primary services in designed to provide efficient mobile telecommunication services. The softer handoff is implemented in one card. The mobile assisted handoff and the network assisted handoff are employed in the soft and hard handoffs. The authentication is based on the secret data which includes random numbers. The management functions, which include the location management, resource management, cell boundary management and OAM management, are implemented to warrant the system efficiency, maximum capacity and high reliability. The architecture ensures that the CMS is flexible and expandable to provide subscribers with economic and efficient system configuration. The dynamic power control, adaptive channel allocation. and dynamic cell boundary management are recommended for future work.

  • A new two dimensional (2-D) analytical model for the Threshold Voltage on dual material surrounding gate (DMSG) MOSFETs is presented in this paper. The parabolic approximation technique is used to solve the 2-D Poisson equation with suitable boundary conditions. The simple and accurate analytical expression for the threshold voltage and sub-threshold swing is derived. It is seen that short channel effects (SCEs) in this structure is suppressed because of the perceivable step in the surface potential which screens the drain potential. We demonstrate that the proposed model exhibits significantly reduced SCEs, thus make it a more reliable device configuration for high speed wireless communication than the conventional single material surrounding gate (SMSG) MOSFETs.

  • Multi-target away signal simulator which can simulate the radiated noises of maneuvering targets in a specified ocean range is an essential equipment for the validation of developed towed array sonar system. This simulator should provide realistic multi-channel signals those are required for beamforming on the signal processing unit of towed away system. This paper describes the overall system configuration and signal synthesis techniques for the target radiated noise. And this paper considers why the time delays between target and individual sensors are caused and how to compensate these time delays to individual sensors output. This multi-purpose target simulator could be used for the training of TASS operators.

  • This paper presents a wavelet-based neural network technology for the detection and classification of the short durations type of power quality disturbances. Transients happen during very short durations to the nano- and microsecond. Thus, a method for detecting and classifying transient signals at the same time and In an automatic combines the properties of the wavelet transform and the advantages of neural networks. Especially, the additional feature extraction to improve the recognition rate is considered. The configuration of the hardware of TMS320C6711 DSP based with 16 channel 20Mhz sampling rate A/D(Analog to Digital) converter and some case studies are described.

  • In this paper, an efficient retransmission scheme using cooperation from neighboring nodes is investigated. In the cooperative retransmission scheme, an erroneous packet is retransmitted to the destination by cooperative nodes where distributed beamforming is used to accommodate multiple cooperating nodes. A Markov model is used to analyze throughput efficiency and average delay of the proposed retransmission scheme. It is shown that the analytical results are well matched with the simulated results and improved throughput and delay performance can be achieved as compared to the traditional retransmission scheme. The performance of the proposed cooperative retransmission is investigated in the multi-hop configuration via computer simulation. The transmit power for retransmission packet is also investigated and it can be significantly reduced by using a small feedback channel.

  • One of important technology that must improve compulsorily on information-oriented society stores, search and transmit cultural contents data of great quantity in heterogeneous environment. SAN appeared by solution to resolve the problem such as integration management of heterogeneous system data, effective practical use of storage, data transmission limit is happened from here. SAN is system that manage and shares data of large quantity efficiently attaching directly to high speed network such as Fiber Channel that storage system has been attached to server individually SAN became more complicated than existent storage environment although offer much advantage such as decrease of storage expense and flexibility of system configuration. This study argues management way could consider in such environment that understand complexity and component of networked storage system.

  • The influence of eccentric(=staggeredness) ratio between stationary upstream circular cylinders on heat transfer characteristics of a heated downstream circular cylinder installed in a channel was investigated experimentally. In order to enhance the heat transfer rate of the heated downstream cylinder surface, we have changed the configuration of upstream cylinder. As a result, we were able to obtain local time-averaged convective heat transfer enhancement of the heated cylinder by the relative replacement of upstream cylinder. This is basically attributed to the mean flow structure change, such as flow separation, vortex shedding, and recirculation of the upstream cylinder including the reattachment and new thermal boundary developed at the downstream cylinder which are the results of the increase of the staggeredness ratio.

  • To develop nuclear measurement system with characteristics including both re-configuration and multi-functions, we proposed a field programmable gate array (FPGA) technique to implement TDC which is more suitable for high energy Physics system. In TDC scheme, the timing resolution is more important than the count rates of channel. In order to manage pico-second resolution TDC, we used the delay components of FPGA, utilized the place and route (P&R) delay difference, and then got two ring oscillators. By setting P&R area constraints, we generated two precise ring oscillators with slightly different frequencies. Finally, we evaluated that the period difference of these two ring oscillators was about 60 pico-seconds, timing resolution of TDC.

  • Giusti-Suzor and Fano introduced translations of the scales of Lu-Fano plots by phase renormalization in order to decouple the intra- and inter-channel couplings in multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT). Their theory was further developed by others to deal with systems involving a larger number of channels. In different directions, MQDT was reformulated into forms with a one-to-one correspondence to those in Fano's configuration mixing theory of resonance for photofragmentation processes involving one closed and many open channels. In this study, the theory was further developed to fully reveal the coupling nature, decoupling of the background and resonance scattering in physical scattering matrices as well as to further extract the dynamic parameters undiscovered by Fano and his colleagues. This theory was applied to the photoabsorption spectrum of $H_2$ observed by Herzberg's group.
