How well the self-interference cancellation (SIC) technique performs is a primary issue in realizing an in-band full-duplex (FD) wireless communication system. One factor affecting its performance is channel estimation error on the self-interference channel. We propose a new analog SIC scheme which is robust to channel estimation error. It uses phase rotators in the radio frequency (RF) chain. We also derive closed-form equations for the residual self-interference of the proposed and the conventional schemes. The analytical and numerical results show that the residual self-interference under the proposed SIC scheme is less than that using the conventional scheme, even though channel estimation error is present.
In this paper, we propose an advanced Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) channel estimation method for IEEE 802.11p/Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE) systems. To improve the performance of MMSE method, we apply the Weighted Sum using Update Matrix (WSUM) scheme to the step of calculating the instantaneously estimated channel and then, a time domain selectively averaging method is applied after the WSUM scheme. Based on that, the accuracy of instantaneously estimated channel increases and then, the accuracy of auto covariance matrix also increases. Consequently, we can achieve the performance gain over the conventional MMSE method. Through simulations based on the IEEE 802.11p standard, it is confirmed that the proposed scheme can outperform the existing channel estimation schemes.
CFD simulation with FlowVision® is used to evaluate the capability of cooling channel in hot press forming dies. Two different types of cooling channels, dry drilled and pocket types are considered for comparison. Two different approaches for simulating cooling channel are considered. One is single-phase velocity calculation for coolant only and the other is multiphase thermal and velocity calculation for die, blank and coolant all together. Both approaches show better cooling performance in pocket type cooling channel. Also both approaches show their own effectiveness in designing cooling channel of hot press forming dies.

One drawback of polar codes is that they are not universal, that is, to achieve optimal performance, different polar codes are required for different kinds of channel. This paper proposes a polar code construction scheme for Nakagami-m fading channel. The scheme fully considers the characteristics of Nakagami-m fading channel, and uses the optimized Bhattacharyya parameter bounds. The constructed code is applied to an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system over Nakagami-m fading channel to prove the performance of polar code. Simulation result shows the proposed codes can get excellent bit error rate (BER) performance with successive cancellation list (SCL) decoding. For example, the designed polar code with cyclic redundancy check (CRC) aided SCL (L = 8) decoding achieves 1.1dB of gain over LDPC at average BER about 10-5 under 4-quadrature amplitude modulation (4QAM) while the code length is 1024, rate is 0.5.

Cyclic delay diversity (CDD) is considered as a simple approach to exploit the frequency diversity in OFDM system. In this paper, we apply CDD to the conventional STBC/SFBC/STFBC-OFDM transmit diversity schemes for Rayleigh fading channels. We compare the performances of STBC/SFBC/STFBC with and without CDD schemes. Simulation results show that the combination of block coding with CDD works well when using the ITU-R M. 1225 channel for both Pedestrian A (Ped A) channel with the mobility of 3 km/h, and Vehicular A (Veh A) channel with the mobility of 120km/h. For a BER of $10^{-3}$, compared to the conventional block coding schemes, a gain of 2dB, 4dB, and 5dB is obtained under the Ped A channel environment by STBC-OFDM, SFBC-OFDM and STFBC-OFDM with CDD, respectively Under the Veh A channel. gains by the combined schemes are 6dB, 2dB, and 4dB, respectivcly.

This study proposes a new diversity algorithm to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. In the wireless channel, if fading occurs due to the multipaths, the performance of the system is apparently reduced. One of the methods to reduce fadings like this is the diversity method, and this study aims to improve the performance of the system by proposing a new diversity algorithm. This study applied rake receiver, and normalized the wireless channel from the Nakagami fading channel to the Rayleigh fading channel, which set the fading index as 1, because of the multipaths. It applied QPSK and OQPSK modulation methods and applied the convolutional codes, where the code rate is 1/2 and 1/3 and the constraint length is 9, and the turbo code where the constraint length is 4. Under these conditions, this study compared and analyzed the average error probability of direct spread multiple access system. The diversity algorithm proposed in this paper could be applied to the mobile communication and other wireless multimedia communications that require high quality and high reliability.

Recently, positively asymmetric binary pulse amplitude modulation (2PAM) has been proposed to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance of the weak channel gain user, with a tolerable BER loss of the strong channel gain user, for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). However, the BER loss of the stronger channel gain user is inevitable in such positively asymmetric 2PAM NOMA scheme. Thus, we propose the negatively asymmetric 2PAM NOMA scheme. First, we derive closed-form expressions for the BERs of the negatively asymmetric 2PAM NOMA. Then, simulations demonstrate that for the stronger channel gain user, the BER of the proposed negatively asymmetric 2PAM NOMA improves, compared to that of the conventional positively asymmetric 2PAM NOMA. Moreover, we also show that for the weaker channel gain user, the BER of the proposed negatively asymmetric 2PAM NOMA is comparable to that of the conventional positively asymmetric 2PAM NOMA, over the power allocation range less than about 10 %.
The effects of ring radius and coupling spacing on the free spectral range (FSR), full width at half maximum (FWHM), quality factor, and sensitivity of single-channel and add-drop channel slot ring resonators were systematically investigated using FIMMPROP and PICWAVE numerical software. The single-channel ring resonator exhibited better characteristics, namely, a wider FSR and narrower FWHM compared with the add-drop structure; thus, it was evaluated to be more suitable for biochemical sensors. The FSR, FWHM, quality factor, and sensitivity for a single channel ring resonator with a radius of 59.4 ㎛ and coupling gap of 0.5 ㎛ were 2.4 nm, 0.087 nm, 17677, and 550 [nm/RIU], respectively.

We present the results of far-ultraviolet (FUV) observations of comet C/2001 Q4 (NEAT) obtained with Far-ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph (FIMS) on board the Korean microsatellite STSAT-1, which operated at an altitude of 700 km in a sun-synchronous orbit. FIMS is a dual-channel imaging spectrograph (S channel 900-1150 ${\AA}$, L channel 1350-1750 ${\AA}$, ${\lambda}/{\Box}{\lambda}$ ~ 550) with large image fields of view (S: $4^{\circ}.0{\times}4'.6$, L: $7^{\circ}.5{\times}4'.3$, angular resolution 5'-10') optimized for the observation of diffuse emission of astrophysical radiation. Comet C/2001 Q4 (NEAT) was observed with a scanning survey mode when it was located around the perihelion between 8 and 15 May 2004. Several important emission lines were detected including S I (1425, 1474 ${\AA}$), C I (1561, 1657 ${\AA}$) and several emission lines of CO $A1{\cap}-X1{\sum}+$ system in the L channel. We estimated QCO = ($2.58\;{\pm}\;0.64)\;{\times}\;1028$ s-1 from the production rate of CO 1510 ${\AA}$. We obtained L-channel image which have map size of $5^{\circ}{\times}5^{\circ}$. The image was constructed for the wavelength band of L-channel (1350-1750 ${\AA}$).We also obtained radial profile of S I, C I, CO with line fitting from central coma.

Production rates of the notable molecules, such as C I, S I and CO, were estimated from the photon fluxes of these spectral lines and compared with previous observations. We compare the flux and the production rates in the radius of $3{\times}10^5$ km with $20{\times}10^5$ km from the central coma. We obtained L-channel image which have map size $5^{\circ}{\times}5^{\circ}$ The image was constructed for the wavelength band of L-channel (1350 - 1710 ${\AA}$. We also present the radial profiles of S I, C I, CO obtained from the spectral images of the central coma. The radial profiles of $2{\times}10^6$ km region are compared with the Haser model.
