The Stabilization Loop Design for a Drone-Mounted Camera Gimbal System Using Intelligent-PID Controller (Intelligent-PID 제어기를 사용한 드론용 짐발 시스템의 안정화기 설계)

  • A flying drone generates vibrations in a great variety of frequencies, and it requires a gimbal system stabilization loop design in order to obtain clean and accurate image from the camera attached to the drone under this environment. The gimbal system for drone comprises the structure that supports the camera module and the stabilization loop which follows the precise angle while blocking the vibration from outside. This study developed a dynamic model for one axis for the stabilization loop design of a gimbal system for drones and applied classical PID controller and intelligent PID controller. The Stabilization loop design was developed by using MATLAB/Simulink and compared the performance of each controller through simulation. Especially, the intelligent PID controller can be designed almost without the dynamic model and it demonstrates that the angle can be followed without readjusting the parameters of the controller even when the characteristics of the model changes.

Camera Monitoring of Topographical Changes of Daehang-ri Intertidal Flat Outside Semangeum Sea Dike No.1. (새만금 1호 방조제 외측 대항리 조간대 갯벌 지형 변화에 대한 영상 관측)

  • Camera monitoring of topographical changes of intertidal flat was performed at Daehang-ri mud flat outside Semangeum sea dike No. 1, where creation of mud flat was reported after sea dike construction. Ground survey on the mud flat is often limited only to points or few line surveys because of difficulty of walking and limitation of working hours by flood/ebb. This study uses natures of tide that the water lines moving on the intertidal flat during a flood indicate depth contours between low and high tide. Ground coordinates for the water lines extracted from the consecutive images of intertidal flat are calculated and information of topography is acquired by integrating all the water line data. Analysis of 6 camera monitoring data between September 2005 and September 2009 shows 0.127 m deposition per year on the average and variation of deposition/erosion in space and time.

  • We introduced a stereo camera on the aircraft to detect flight objects and to estimate the 3D position of them. The Saliency map algorithm based on PCT was proposed to detect a small object between clouds, and then we processed a stereo matching algorithm to find out the disparity between the left and right camera. In order to extract accurate disparity, cost aggregation region was used as a variable region to adapt to detection object. In this paper, we use the detection result as the cost aggregation region. In order to extract more precise disparity, sub-pixel interpolation is used to extract float type-disparity at sub-pixel level. We also proposed a method to estimate the spatial position of an object by using camera parameters. It is expected that it can be applied to image - based object detection and collision avoidance system of autonomous aircraft in the future.

  • This paper proposes a method to estimate the flow speed of pedestrians in surveillance videos. In the proposed method, the average moving speed of pedestrians is measured by estimating the size of real-world motion from the observed motion vectors. For this purpose, a pixel-to-meter conversion factor is introduced which is calculated from camera parameters. Also, the height information, which is missing because of camera projection, is predicted statistically from simulation experiments. Compared to the previous works for flow speed estimation, our method can be applied to various camera views because it separates scene parameters explicitly. Experiments are performed on both simulation image sequences and real video. In the experiments on simulation videos, the proposed method estimated the flow speed with average error of about 0.08m/s. The proposed method also showed promising results for the real video.

  • Here we present a simple flame detection method for an infrared (IR) thermal camera based real-time fire surveillance digital signal processor (DSP) system. Infrared thermal cameras are especially advantageous for unattended fire surveillance. All-weather monitoring is possible, regardless of illumination and climate conditions, and the data quantity to be processed is one-third that of color videos. Conventional IR camera-based fire detection methods used mainly pixel-based temporal correlation functions. In the temporal correlation function-based methods, temporal changes in pixel intensity generated by the irregular motion and spreading of the flame pixels are measured using correlation functions. The correlation values of non-flame regions are uniform, but the flame regions have irregular temporal correlation values. To satisfy the requirement of early detection, all fire detection techniques should be practically applied within a very short period of time. The conventional pixel-based correlation function is computationally intensive. In this paper, we propose an IR camera-based simple flame detection algorithm optimized with a compact embedded DSP system to achieve early detection. To reduce the computational load, block-based calculations are used to select the candidate flame region and measure the temporal motion of flames. These functions are used together to obtain the early flame detection algorithm. The proposed simple algorithm was tested to verify the required function and performance in real-time using IR test videos and a real-time DSP system. The findings indicated that the system detected the flames within 5 to 20 seconds, and had a correct flame detection ratio of 100% with an acceptable false detection ratio in video sequence level.

  • The color reproduction of digital still camera does not, in general, match those of the final output device. Because color gamut of these devices is different, it is therefore necessary to take account of a way to match. The way uses the optimized profile to output device an image. This paper proposed a way to create the input profile of digital still camera for standardization soft proofing process. The results of proposed way showed that for input profiles equivalent, good results relatively. In this paper, an experiment was done where the illumination sources used as the standard illumination 5200K and illuminated at a $45^{\circ}$ angle in the best illumination efficiently. The white balance was in mode 'custom' : aperture F11, exposure time 1/60s, ISO50, focal length 80mm. The images were exported and saved as 16bit RGB TIFF(AdobeRGB, sRGB, ProphotoRGB) images. To do the test, the RGB values of the RGB TIFF images are processed through the ICC input profile to arrive at processed $CIEL^*a^*b^*$ values. A profiling tool such as ProfileMaker 5.0 and Monacoprofile 4.8 are used to do this. The processed $CIEL^*a^*b^*$ values are compared to the reference $CIEL^*a^*b^*$ values and these two values are used to calculate a ${\Delta}E{^*}_{ab}$.

  • A spray-type cleaning agent in utilizing dust-remover on PCB was chosen to study the cleanliness test and efficiency. In order to choose alternative environmental-friendly cleaning agents, it is important that the systematic selection procedures should be introduced and applied through the evaluation of their cleaning ability, environmental characteristics, and economical factors, and that the objective and effective evaluation methods of cleanliness should be established for the industry. A novel cleaning evaluation method with scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive X-ray analysis of surface observation evaluation method and an infra-red thermography camera(THERMOVISION A20 model) was studied in this work. The sound card(CT-2770 model) cut by $2{\times}2cm$ size was used as a part, and before and after the spray cleaning, the cleanliness was observed by the image analyzer of SEM and further the removal efficiency of dust was quantitatively evaluated by the component analysis of EDX. For the parts of P4TE model motherboard and IPC-A-36 PCB plate, before and after the spray cleaning, temperature differences were measured and compared at room temperature and 50 oven temperature by an infra-red thermography camera in the contaminants of dust and iron powder.

  • This paper is used in a recent civil engineering field in three-dimensional laser-meter tiles using thermal imaging cameras for the weathered rock slopes precisely measured indirectly, to the degree that began in the will. In the field is difficult to access the degree of weathering of the rock slope to the existing direct way to compensate for the shortcomings of 3D Terrestrial Laser Scanner and weathering characteristics of rocks using thermal imaging cameras to get the information to analyze the degree of rock weathering is. Intensity of 3D TLS and the thermal camera with image analysis to analyze the degree of weathering of bedrock in the field of core drilling targeting indoor laboratory tests were analyzed through the study. Granite, gneiss, sandstone, much of the cancerous samples, each experiment has a 40 per category, each of which 30 were used to analyze the data collected. That degree of rock weathering, the rock, depending on the strength of the Intensity values can change, depending on the level of thermal imaging camera, also weathered the changes in temperature could see. Intensity is the strength of weak rocks, the more value decrease, the temperature of the thermal imaging camera through the swell Intensity and notice that the temperature had an inverse relationship. Intensity value of the low strength of weak rock, but the value came out of the rocks have been proved to be largely dependent on the contrast.   • Recently, we have remarkable developments in intelligent robot systems. The remarkable features of intelligent robot are that it can track user and is able to doface recognition, which is vital for many surveillance-based systems. The advantage of face recognition compared with other biometrics recognition is that coerciveness and contact that usually exist when we acquire characteristics do not exist in face recognition. However, the accuracy of face recognition is lower than other biometric recognition due to the decreasing in dimension from image acquisition step and various changes associated with face pose and background. There are many factors that deteriorate performance of face recognition such as thedistance from camera to the face, changes in lighting, pose change, and change of facial expression. In this paper, we implement a new sliding active camera system to prevent various pose variation that influence face recognition performance andacquired frontal face images using PCA and HMM method to improve the face recognition. This proposed face recognition algorithm can be used for intelligent surveillance system and mobile robot system.

  • This paper propose a facial recognition method based on an ubiquitous computing that is one of next generation intelligence technology fields. The facial images are acquired by a mobile device so-called cellular phone camera. We consider a mobile security using facial feature extraction and recognition process. Facial recognition is performed by the PCA and fuzzy LDA algorithm. Applying the discrete wavelet based on multi-resolution analysis, we compress the image data for mobile system environment. Euclidean metric is applied to measure the similarity among acquired features and then obtain the recognition rate. Finally we use the mobile equipment to show the efficiency of method. From various experiments, we find that our proposed method shows better results, even though the resolution of mobile camera is lower than conventional camera.
