혼성방파제의 케이슨에 작용하는 비선형양압력분포에 관한 연구 (Nonlinear Uplift Wave Pressure Distribution Acting on the Caisson of Composite Breakwater)

  • Recently numerical approaches for wave loads acting on the vertical caisson of breakwater, and resulting wave reflection and transmission coefficients have been performed. Although the numerical studies by Sulisz's(1997) and Kim et al.(2000) are suggested representatively, theoretical formulation for nonlinear wave pressure is not developed yet. And experimental results of Sulisz(1997) revealed that nonlinear uplift pressure on the caisson may be produced largely on the case of caisson founded on the high rubble mound. From the results of this study, the nonlinear theory for the uplift wave pressure acting on the caisson by applying boundary integral method of Green theorem is formulated, and also the characteristics of nonlinear uplift pressure and run-up height on the caisson are evaluated numerically, according to the variations of hydraulic properties of the rubble mound.

  • In this paper, vibration-based structural health monitoring methods that are suitable for caisson-type structures are examined by an experimental evaluation. To achieve the objective, four approaches are implemented. First, vibration-based structural health monitoring methods are selected to monitor the structural condition of caisson-type breakwaters. Second, a lab-scaled caisson structure is constructed to verify the selected monitoring methods. Third, the vibration characteristics are numerically analyzed using an FE model due to the change in the rubble mound condition. Finally, experimental vibration tests of the lab-scaled caisson structure are performed to monitor the vibration responses due to changes in rubble mound conditions and the performances of the selected methods are examined from the monitoring results.

5MW급 해상풍력발전시스템용 Suction Caisson 하부구조물 적합성 연구 (A Study on the Suitability of Suction Caisson Foundation for the 5Mw Offshore Wind Turbine)

  • Foundation plays an important role in the offshore wind turbine system. Different from conventional foundations, the suction caisson is proven to be economical and reliable. In this work, three-dimensional finite element method is used to check the suitability of suction caisson foundation. NREL 5MW wind turbine is chosen as a baseline model in our simulation. The maximum overturning moment and vertical load at the mudline are calculated using FAST and Bladed. Meanwhile the soil-structure interaction response from our simulation is also compared with the experiment data from Oxford university. The design parameter such as caisson length, diameter of skirt and spacing of multipod are investigated. Accordingly based on these parameters suggestions are given to use suction caisson foundations more efficiently.

  • The design methodology of the sluice caisson structure is one of important factor that is closely related to the efficiency in tidal power generation. When the sluice caisson is designed to maximize the water discharge capability, it is possible to minimize the number of sluice caissons for attaining the water amount required for achieving the target power generation, which results in reduction of the construction cost for the sluice caisson structure. The discharge capability of sluice caisson is dependent on the geometrical conditions of an apron structure which is placed in both sides of the sluice caisson. In this study, we investigated numerically the variation of water discharge capability of sluice caisson according to the geometrical conditions of apron. Flow fields are simulated with FLOW-3D software using VOF method.

  • Based on the recent laboratory experiments (Kim et al. 2004), comparisons of caisson sliding distance are made between the computations and experiments. The time history model of wave force, which is proposed by Tanimoto et al. (1996), is modified in the standing wave part of horizontal and uplift wave forces because of the overestimation of the time history model. The comparison between experimental and computational sliding distance has showed that the caisson tilting increases the resistant force to the horizontal sliding. Therefore, a titling resistant force, which is caused by caisson tilting, is introduced into computation of sliding distance.

  • In order to reduce wave reflection from a breakwater, a perforated wall caisson is often used. A conventional perforated wall caisson breakwater for which the water depth inside the wave chamber is the same as that on the rubble mound berm has less weight than a vertical solid caisson with the same width and moreover the weight is concentrated on the rear side of the caisson.   • Deformation of caisson occurred during the backfilling behind the caisson and some caisson moved toward seaside. A series of site investigation were conducted to figure out various circumstances at site and also used to analyze the cause of deformation. The soil condition of backfilling is also investigated because dredged material was used as a backfill material. The friction angle of backfill is supposed to be lower than the estimated one which was used in design stage. To determine the cause of friction shortage, back analysis for sliding safety were carried out with considering the soil condition of backfilling. A remedial plan, re-rising and relocating a caisson with backfilling good earth after treatment of caisson rubble mound to achieve the safety for sliding was proposed as a best solution based on the back analysis results. Reform concrete structure including service gallery and crane rail was also considered with the remedial work to improve the cape line of caisson.

Simplified planar model for damage estimation of interlocked caisson system

  • In this paper, a simplified planar model is developed for damage estimation of interlocked caisson systems. Firstly, a conceptual dynamic model of the interlocked caisson system is designed on the basis of the characteristics of existing harbor caisson structures. A mass-spring-dashpot model allowing only the sway motion is formulated. To represent the condition of interlocking mechanisms, each caisson unit is connected to adjacent ones via springs and dashpots. Secondly, the accuracy of the planar model's vibration analysis is numerically evaluated on a 3-D FE model of the interlocked caisson system. Finally, the simplified planar model is employed for damage estimation in the interlocked caisson system. For localizing damaged caissons, a damage detection method based on modal strain energy is formulated for the caisson system.

대형 뉴메틱케이슨 강성기초의 접지압분포 (Distribution of Ground Contact Pressure under Rigid Foundation of Large Pneumatic Caisson)

  • 다양한 지층에 설치된 대형 뉴메틱케이슨의 강성기초에 작용하는 접지압분포를 파악하기 위하여 영종대교하부기초로 채택된 뉴메틱케이슨 시공시 실시한 현장계측자료를 분석하였다. 뉴메틱케이슨의 침설시 케이슨의 하부 접지면에 케이슨의 침설에 저항하여 저항력이 작용할 것이다. 이 저항력을 뉴메틱케이슨 기초저면 모서리에 설치한 반압계로 측정할 수 있었다. 그리고 이 저항력측정기록을 이용하여 접지압을 산정하였다. 측정기록의 분석결과 기반암구간에서 뉴메틱케이슨기초에 작용하는 접지압분포는 아래로 볼록한 형상의 접지압분포를 보이는 반면에 해성퇴적층과 풍화암층에서의 접지압분포는 위로 볼록한 형상을 보인다. 그리고 이들 접지압분포는 대체적으로 모든 지층에서 대칭분포를 나타내고 있다. 대형 뉴메틱케이슨기초에 작용한 최대접지압에 의하여 제시된 접지압분포는 Kgler(1936)와 Fang(1991)이 강성기초를 대상으로 제시한 접지압분포특성과 잘 일치하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • A three-dimensional numerical modeling using the finite element method for the suction caisson are described to decide suitability as foundation of offshore wind turbine in this paper. In the simulation, soil-structure interaction is defined by comparing experiment data. The reaction of monopod suction caisson is presented by moment loading which was calculated by FAST. Tendency of suction caisson appeared by difference of length and diameter of skirt under coupled loading. Length and diameter of skirt are suggested and evaluated as a offshore wind turbine.
